With rested wings and bored feathers, the small bird atop the shelf let loose a surprisingly loud hoot and descended from it's heavenly abode to the wooden structure that was the woman's desk. It was cliche, as teachers always had their lessons interrupted at the most inopportune time, however sometimes interruptions were the only ways for points to be made.
The tiny bird bore no envelope, in fact it bore not even a full sheet of parchment. No, instead it brought with it a folded scrap approximately a 3 inch square, folded over halfway and sealed with wax. A custom long since considered a dead form of international history. However upon closer inspection of the parchment one would find it was addressed to she who taught, oddly reciprocated to that of a Hogwarts letter, addressed right down to the exact point of which door on the left the room was from the east stairway. And yet, it was not the punctualness of the address that would scare, nor the wax skull that sealed the parchment closed. No, the true haunting came from within the fold.
And so the bird gave another hoot, hardly as loud as before, and remained still as a statue, leg outstretched in offering.

"Correct, five points to Ravenclaw," The Professor awarded, about to open her mouth and continue but caught sight of ... Blaze was it? ... all but sound asleep. Merlin, she thought she had managed to skirt that problem when Sora Blake graduated (constantly fell asleep in her class, and always managed to score high marks, it had been quite annoying).
Pulling out her wand, she animated the desk, which in turn sprung to life and tried to dump its host on the floor. Not hard enough to sustain injury, something the Deputy would never do, but defiantly enough to startle him. Without much more adieu, she continued as if the event had not happened.
"A curse for pain, control, and death. One to fit the needs of just about any dark wizard -- or simply someone wishing to do harm. It is very true that simply attempting to use these curses on another Human Being could get you a sentence in Azkaban -- realistically for life depending on what you did." The Professor tapped her chin inquisitively, eyebrows furrowing in a pensive manner. "But why are they illegal? There are many spells out there that can cause pain, I know of a few that can deteriorate your organs one by one, starting with the less important to prolong the pain.. which is therefore also a curse for death as well. But it is not considered 'unforgivable'. A stunner, if aimed right, could kill, but is not illegal. Why then are the --"
She dropped the rouse suddenly. One might believe it had been due the sudden appearance of Alhana Starbreeze, whom was not suppose to be there. On a normal day, it might have been. But at that precise moment, the room echoed with a loud screech and a bird about the size of her fist descended from somewhere above.
Who in their right mind was having their mail delivered to them during her class? Apparently, she was.
It was addressed to her, down to the exact location. Reaching on tenderly she took the small piece of parchment from the owl's leg. It was in the shape of a... skull? A million and one questions fumbled her brain, all trying to push their way to the forefront of her concerns at once. Who? Why? What? Danger? A warning of danger? But no matter how many times these words thought with each other, they all concurred on one common conclusion; Shaw.
Completely forgetting the class, she stared long at the wax seal that encompassed the note's back. To open it, or not to open it? Was there some sort of nasty hex triggered at such a motion? If it was Shaw, she doubted it, but if it was not... her throat contracted. One way to find out.
Then delicately, she pushed a finger under a fold and broke the seal. No explosion, no poof of mysterious smoke. It was a simple scrap of parchment, as if one had found it in the trash, and on it were five scrawled words in an elegant but deliberate hand. Five simple words that nonetheless turned a non-expressive woman's face snow white and chills racing down her back. She simply stood there, heart pounding, stone-faced, eyes glued to those words.

Charlotte had listened carefully to each word the woman said, though it gave no influence in her bored, know-it-all stature. She made no notes, nor did she even have materials out. Maybe a quill could come out if it prodded her. For that time being, however, this woman had been preaching to the choir.
And without fail, Charlotte examined Raynor the whole time, trying to catch every tense muscle that would come out of the woman when she seemed to have noticed a letter meant especially for her. It was an odd sight for her, seeing this teaching that never broke her professionality until this letter. It may have put two and two together for Charlotte, but not yet. Instead, a little innocent question could prod what this teacher was thinking.
"What's in the letter?" She asked, making no formalities or euphemisms. Charlotte had no care for the professor's well-being.

Drew had been about to answer again, so focused on the lesson (and determined not to let it get to him) that he pretty much forgot that this was not a diaolgue between he and her. Of course he knew why these Curses were deemed unforgivable even though there were other ways of controling and killing.
But he stopped as she did when the bird screeched. The mail delivery in and of itself was unusual, but not so much as to causs concern. What struck Drew the most was Raynor's face as she took the small piece of paper. He tensed up, knowing it wasn't good. The look on her face told him everything.
"What is it?" he asked instinctively, doubting she would actually answer. He was, after all, just a student in her class, but something in her expression gave him the need to know.

Listening to Raynor talking about what they were going to learn today. He was going to like today's lesson. After looking down, he decided to take some notes on this. Hopefully no one would think of him being a murderer or something. Because he wasn't and never will be. Hopefully. Then all of sudden a screech of an owl. His head jot up to see what was the sound. He watched her expressions the whole time. What was going on? Tristan was pretty much freaked out himself.

Shocked gray eyes remained locked on those five simplistic words; diction of such a mediocre nature that it was impressively sadistic. The sections of her brain that were still functioning began to process the information it had just been given. It was searching its database for answer. Any explanation at all for this. It was Shaw's handwriting. It was his letter. His voice mockingly filled her ears as the words sunk in, tormenting her, teasing her. This was just a game to him. One large, grotesque game. A riddle that he had tossed to her like a master would a bone for a dog once he had stripped it clean of meat. But what did this bone mean? It could be anything, 'one' was such a relative term. What could he possibly mean by -- and then it hit her. No. Good Merlin, not that. It was impossible. Hogwarts was too well guarded. A student could not have been taken off the grounds. Not this time. How many had been missing from class? Plenty. It was the first day of classes, First years got lost, and the elder ones were not yet over summer-itis. He could not have possibly meant a student. A head count was needed. Everyone needed to go to the Great Hall for a head count. They could see if anyone was missing and rule that out as an option. After all, it could be anything, even Shaw simply torturing her for his own pleasures. But they had to be sure. Gathering everyone up -- no, it was the middle of class, it would take to long. If it was a student, Merlin alone knew what could be done to them... The bird, of course, the bird. Her gaze finally shifted taking in the little creature, it was as small as her fist. Small, too small for a long distance. Usually a size of bird reserved for local post, and there was only one place local to Hogwarts. She needed to be sure, she could take Shaw if needed. The school would never need to know. They would be terrified -- and, the students were talking to her. Startled, she recalled the class, letting her gaze take them in quickly. She had to move fast. "I... class is dismissed. A two roll essay on the Unforgivables," She managed to make out, and then discarding the parchment, she ran, yes, full out ran from the room. Halfway down the hall, her heeled slippers became a hindrance and she simply threw them off and continued on. And the parchment, you wonder? It laid in the middle of the floor, the handwriting in a compressed deliberate hand that held a elegance in a masculine way. It simply read: You were missing one today.

The note that had started it all lay on the floor and Drew summoned it without even thinking twice. He recognized the handwriting of course. Shaw's scribblings had topped his papers for two years now.
His mind raced, thinking along the same patterns that Raynor had, wondering why she hadn't called a lockdown this time. He must be close by... Drew thought and following that came the natural conclusion, at least for him.
"I'm out of here," he told anyone who cared, and he shoved the note in his pocket as he gathered his things and ran out of the room.

He then got up. "So, it's true. Maybe he was right! Maybe....." he said outloud. The only reason he brought it up was because the way Raynor ran out of the class and the way Drew ran out of the class. Must of been something bad. Too bad he didn't get to read the note. He then sat back in his seat. He put his head in his hands. He didn't even care about leaving the class now. He rather stay here than walk outside now. It was bad enough now what he was thinking.

Seanna listened as Professor Raynor explained some more about the Unforgivable Curse's, but that owl had caught her eye and she watched Professor Raynor's expression turn into one that looked like fear. What was more, after reading the piece of parchment Professor Raynor had declared class was dismissed and she had ran out of the room.
Catching a brief glimpse of the piece of the paper before Drew summoned it over to him, Seanna had caught the words briefly, she didn't know who the letter was from but those three words about one was missing, Seanna could gather who it was from and thought scared her and instantly she was worried about the younger years in Huffle.
More over, she was worried about Drew too, but for now she had no clue what to do and she sat there for awhile before she quietly said to the rest off the class, "What should we do?" Seanna didn't know if the other's in the classroom saw what was on that piece of paper or not, but she gathered that since she had a caught of glimpse of it, someone else could have too.

"Something's obviously got her all tickled," Charlotte said with a bit of a smile. Anything to wipe what she always thought was smugness off of the professor's face. And the way Drew went off after her. "Probably something that will bring in another lockdown," she smirked and noted the last two lockdowns of the last two years as told by Charlie's brother.
"Won't this be good..." She said to herself, grabbing her things and headed out without a trace of a good bye. It wouldn't matter where she would head off-- it didn't even matter to her.

Hiro knew that there was an emergancy when the owl had entered. No one would interput Raynor during a lesson unless it was important. Her reaction of ending the class only meant an emergancy of the most dire nature. Drew's reaction after a note was stuffed into his pocket seeled the deal, things were going to get nasty really quick.
"Damn it Drew!" Hiro yelled as he ran out of the classroom after his friend. He was all impulses, not only did he trying and fight alone last time but this time as well.

Nic watched everything. He was ready to answer a question before Drew, because his house needed the points. Plus he liked this class, it was one of the best, but like everyone else he was watchin the owl and the Profs. reaction to it. Nic jumped up after Hiro, but didn't go out the door. Hiro could help Drew.
"Prof. Raynor, what do ya want us ta do? Want us to get our houses back to the commonroom? What?" Nic looked over at Seanna, Charlie, and Tristan and motioned them over. "Yall is our prefects in your houses and..." Nic just realized that the two Ravenclaw prefects had just left the class. "Dammit. Aiight we need to do somethin Prof. just left. Should we all do a lockdown? No," Nic answered his own question. "We don't have the authority. Somethin's up. Should we just let class dismiss and let everyone think what dey want?" Nic looked at the prefect's hoping they had an answer. This is what they were here for, right? To take charge in a situation like this.

Biting her lip, Seanna didn't know what they should do. Technically, they couldn't do anything, because technically, they didn't know what was going on and technically, they couldn't do anything until they knew something was wrong. "I don't know what we should do, but we can't do anything anyway, so it would probably be best if we all went back to the common rooms" Seanna shrugged, it wasn't the best idea she had, but it was the only idea she had and once she was back to her own common room, she was going to do her own head count of all the Huffle's.
