Tristan heard the part of pairing up with someone. He hated to ask someone so he just stood still until someone asked him. He hated the fact that asking someone and they might reject. Yeah, it's happened to Tristan many times, and he surely wasn't going to do that. He looked around and didn't see anybody getting up yet. Maybe they we're looking to choose. Clearly for him he didn't have anyone in mind now.

Drew looked around and saw everyone else seemed to be trying to figure out the partner situation as well. He decided to just ask someone before Raynor did something rash like assigning partners.
"Hiro, you and me?" he asked, knowing he could get a good duel going with his housemate.

Charlie quite simply went up to Jade and nudged her. "You in or out?" she asked, not bothering with the fact that was in or in. No choice. But she was fine with getting Jade as a partner. If it wasn't Drew or Hiro, it should be a fellow Slytheirn, she reasoned.

"This'll be good." Hiro agreed. Drew and he had always had great classroom practices. Of course if one believed they only practiced in the classroom one would also think it was a good idea to give them the prefect badges.

Alexis got up to begin her search for a partner. Well, already by the looks of it, partners were running out fast. "Who will I partner with..." she thought quickly scanning the room for anyone. Seeing Tristan she went up to him and asked, "Hey, want to be my partner?" She didn't mind pairing up with a gryffie, besides it might be really fun dueling him.

Giving the class more than enough time to chose partners, the Professor finally cleared her throat, drawing their attention back to her. Class was almost over and they needed at least a good ten minutes of practice to get at least a minimal foundation.
"Partnered up? Excellent. Each pair is to practice throwing curses back and forth at each other and trying to block them and/or repel them with Hex Deflection. Even just managing to stop the spells actions is a good start." Her lips thinned. "No devastating hexes or curses here now, I don't feel like having to rush any of you off to the hospital. Stick to simple ones; making each other dance, the tickling charm. Nothing too painful or disfiguring."
The one and only warning they would get, and one she felt was unnecessary. But if Charlie and Drew decided to clash heads, well, you never knew.
Raynor clapped her hands together. "Well, hop to it."
(( If you have not picked a partner IC, take it to PMs. I'm going to keep this topic open to give you all a chance to RP this out for a while. ))

"So you ready to do this?" Drew asked Hiro, standing up and finding a decent place in the classroom to practice that was far enough from anyone else and free of any obstructions.
"So, you want to go first?" he offered, feeling pretty confident that he could do the deflecting part without any problems.
