Drew paced the classroom, mumbling to himself and pushing at tables that were already against the wall (he didn't know how to get rid of them) and kicking at pillows that were on the floor (those, he knew where they were).
What the heck had he been thinking? Why the heck had he agreed to this. Oh right. It had been the momentary blindness from the dazzling lure of power. He had fretted over it all the night before as his sister had reassured him. You're going to be fine. You know this stuff better than I do. High praise and it said a lot coming from Allegra.
She was right. He knew this particular lesson like the back of his hand (having sat through it twice), and had even made sure he could perform the spell with his spare wand. All was good. Good to go. Now to just wait for the fourth years.

Pat walked into the DADA classroom, and one glance told him that something odd was going on. At the front of the class was not Professor Raynor, but Drew. Pat wondered what was going on. He hadn't seriously expected raynor to be teaching so soon after the birth of her child, but he was confused as to why it seemed that Drew would be their substitute teacher; were there no adults for the job. Of course, there might be none, after Professor Thorne's murder. In any case, Pat took a seat at the front of the class, off to the side, and turned towards the Raven. "What's up, Drew? Teachin' us today, I'm guessin'?"

"Yeah, kind of," Drew answered the Huffle prefect. He finally took up a perch on one of the tables against the wall and let out his nervous energy by tapping out a drum beat on his knees. "So how many kids in this class, do you know?" He asked, wondering how long he had to wait. The only one he thought he really knew was Alhana's sister, but he couldn't be sure of that.

Pat leaned back his chair, thinking for a moment. "I'd say you can expect a few people," he said. "Not sure exactly how many. I can almost ensure two more at the very least though," he added on; Jack and Talia had been fairly prompt to every other lesson, and this one would most likely be no different. Pat thought a second more, and a question came to mind. He supposed that Drew would be one of the better people to ask; he knew Raynor fairly well at least. He leaned back forward, looking at Drew. "Hey," he started off, "d'you know how Raynor and her kid have been?"

Jack walked up to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and entered wondering who had decided to take the class, because he had heard that the women that had gone into labor at the feast was the teacher and surely she wouldn't be teaching this soon after giving birth to a child. Entering he noticed that he wasn't the first one here. There was two other students, but he couldn't figure out why Drew was there when he was older than them. He walked down the asle saying hi to Drew and Pat and taking a seat by Pat.

With her bangs in front of her eyes, Melody walked quietly into the Defense Against the Dark Arts room. As always, she showed no recognition to the teacher at the front of the room as she walked by the front and headed towards the side of the room. Upon seeing Drew, she gave a quick note of surprise before her face returned to its normal blank state. Drew? Why was he here? Didn't really matter however because one Raynor would kick him out soon enough, and two, hey, if there was another cute guy in the class, she wasn't about to complain. (( ))

{I don't think my first post was clear. The desks are all pushed against the side. If you guys are sitting at a table, you're against the wall and if you're in the middle of the room, you're on the floor. Sorry. } "She's doing okay. Her and the baby. The nurse is making her take it easy for a while so she's only down to one class." Drew answered, smirking at the new arrivals. Okay, so he knew quite a few of the fourth years. He wasn't sure if that was good or bad, but it was something. At least he wouldn't have to refer to them as 'Hey You'.

Talia walked in, and looked around the room, seeing a good handful or students, but no Professor. She then looked at Drew, she had forgotten he was a fifth year, and wondered what he was doing here. She sat on the floor, wondering what they were going to do. She waved at Pat and Jack, not at all surprised to see them both once again. She grinned, and wondered how many others there would be.

Jack waved back to Talia when she had waved at him after finding a seat in the middle of the classroom on the floor. He was sitting in one of the desks that were pressed up against the wall. He was also glad to hear that the Professor, who had just had a baby, was doing just fine even though he didn't really know her. It had been a bit of a shock to him when she had went into labor during the Sorting Feast.

Pat nodded once at Drew, showing he understood. Pat'd been a little worried about Raynor and her kid, but they seemed to be doing perfectly fine. Pat waved as Jack and Talia arrived in their times; he knew they'd be here. He also waved slightly at the Raven girl that walked in; he didn't really know her, but knew her name was Melody. He stood up now, bored with sitting. He turned toward Drew again. "So," he said to him, smiling, "are you teaching every class, or just ours, Drew?"

"This one and the second years," Drew answered, the shrug of his shoulders basically apologizing that they were stuck with him. "Raynor wanted to keep the firsties and the nurse threw a fit, but fianlly gave in. Some of the other profs are taking the older ones."

Lauren walked into the classroom, half-expecting to see the professsor and half not. She walked in, and was only half surprised to see Drew. Was Drew, a fifth year, really going to teach their class. Common sense would only lead one to believe another professor would take over the class, not a fifth year. But, who knows.
She noticed the desks against the wall and the pillows half out of the way and half not. Like they were being placed somewhere and the person doing the moving, most likely Drew, was interupted. But maybe not. There were already a few people in the class.

{I'll tell you what I told the second years. No, Raynor has not gone off of her rocker. In college, it is very common to have an older student take over a lower level class for a professor.} "So, you guys are supposed to be starting on Patronus, right?" Drew asked as he bounced his knees nervously, getting antsy to start. This was his favorite lesson of his favorite class and wanted to see if he could actually show the fourth years well enough so that they could perform the spell. "So what do you guys already know?"

Pat focused his glance a bit. It looked as though Drew was getting the show on the road and getting class started. Pat leaned against one of the desks a bit, thinking about Patronuses. He raised his hand partway into the air and spoke up. "A Patronus is a strong defensive charm, right?" He knew he hadn't been overly through with his answer, even though his cousins had told him about Patronuses once; that was all he could think of off the top of his head though. He also mused about if Drew could give out points for this, but saved that question for later.

Jack turned his attention to Drew as he asked a question about Patronuses, thinking that class was probably starting now. He knew a little about the subject because he had heard that they would be covering them and had asked his older brother over the summer about them. He saw Pat who was sitting next to him half way raise his hand and then give a short answer to Drew's question. He decided to wait for Drew to respond to Pat before giving his answer to the question and he still wasn't sure if you had to raise your hand to be called on or if it was just a free for all.
