Taking a note out of the History Professor's book (something that Tamis would deny to her last breath of life-giving air if inquired upon) the Deputy had combined her first, second, and third year classes into one. Parents seemed more and more timid about relinquishing their younger children beyond their own control as times became more -- less conservative. If you could call events such as the Dark Mark appearing on Big Ben as 'less conservative'. Professor Raynor pitied the children in truth, they would be late in their magical education now.
The classroom was lined with columns and rows of desks, a not too unfamiliar sight for the first years, a fickle situation for any and all second years, and a sight of probable complete confusion to the third years, whom by now were used to the floor of the Defense classroom being blanketed in a large, thick, purple mat.
On top of the desk resided three large tanks, but what they held remained a mystery; as a matter of fact, the location of the Professor remained such as well, as she was currently absent from the room.

The door was clearly ajar, and after poking her head in she saw the desks were present, again, and the Professor was absent. Absent? That was new, as from what she had gathered from the last lesson the professor was a person who was, on time, to say the least.
Sighing, the girl fully entered the room and claimed a seat in the front, not that she cared which seat it was, she could have been int he back corner and near invisible and she'd still take in everything. Not to say she'd understand it, but she'd take it in.
Noticing the tanks she tilted her head and watched one of them closely.

Cautiosly he walked in, it was nearly empty, only being occupied by one other student, who he personally had never seen before. Then again he didn't know many people at Hogwarts, he sighed slightly as he came further into the room. It always seemed rather odd not to have the teacher present when students were arriving, most Professors were very protective of the things in their room and would there for not trust a student to be alone with any of it. He wasn't too sure where to sit exactly considering the arrangement of the chairs...and second how would the class work combining three years? Dias trusted decisions made by the adults, mostly because they had much more experience than him and secondly because he'd rather deal with anything than being stuck at home with his family.
Then he heard something odd and turned around to see someone flying into the room and running striaght into him, knocking him easily to the ground. Laying on his back he was looking up with a confused look and now a headache forming in his head from his head hitting the ground. He looked up to see who it was.

"Oomph!" Abby collided with the student and landed on top of him on the ground, rolling off immediately as a bright blush colored her cheeks. The Hufflepuff wasn't the type to run or rush, but a relentless fear of being late for her first class caused her to think unclearly. Quickly trying to gather up her books and papers that had flown every which way, Abigail mumbled her apologies, eyes remaining upon the pencil she was picking up. Words such as, "sorry", "accident", and "late" could be distinguished from her quiet mutterings as she collected a stack of papers and shoved them into her bag.

Anna walked into the classroom with her new books in her hands. "Ok," she thought "I'm pretty sure that this is the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom." Then she saw to people on the ground and went to help them. "Are you alright?" she asked the two of them.

"Its alright, if I don't fall in one shape or form a day, it wouldn't feel right," Dias rubbed his head as he sat up but not getting to his feet. Definately need to pay more attention... Trying to compose himself a little more he attempted to stand up but lost his balance and fell back on his butt again. Maybe I hit my head harder than I thought. He decided to just make the best of it and using a nearby chair pulled himself back to his feet, looking at the two girls.
"Sorry if I was in the way," he apologized quickly. I have a feeling I'll be appologizing a lot...

Stopping right outside the classroom door to check her hair in the mirror, Lum clicked close the mirror and tucked it into her bag. Her tall black boots clicked on the hallway floor only to be muffled as they hit the carpet in the classroom. It certainly looks interesting... Relieved to see Dias there already she instantly became wary of the other students in the room. Deciding to keep her distance she sat down on Dias' right where most of the seats were still unoccupied.
"How can the professor teach three years at once?" Lum asked conversationally. She played with the fringe on her blue and black scarf with her thin fingers. Though she felt a little nervous she would never let it pass through the cool exterior she displayed.

"Haven't a clue," Dias shrugged as he moved closer to Lum to see what she was doing. Seeing she was just playing with her scarf he put his stuff next to the desk and gave a short yawn and still rubbing the spot on his head that he had hit on the floor. I wonder why they even had all three years at once...must not be worth doing them seperately. I wonder if there will be chicken for dinner...
His stomach growled telling him why his train of thought had changed so quickly. He sighed slightly as he brought a hand to his stomach, Skip breakfast just so you can spend some time looking around...yeah great idea.

Anna looked around at the three and smiled. "Well, I'm glad your ok. Just be a little more careful next time." she said turning to the boy. Then she heard the boy's stomach growl. Anna gave a small giggle and said "Did you eat any breakfast?" Then she pulled out her bag and got some food out. "Here, I managed to get some food from breakfast this morning. You can have it if you like. By the way, my name is Anna Becket. Gryffindor, third year. What are your names?"

She looked the girl up and down and decided she was too cheery for this early in the morning. Continuing to twirl the fringe between her scarf she waited for someone to talk first. Certainly she would have already met the other student here. Perhaps the different years didn't socialize together much here.
"I'm Lum. Dias and I are transfers."

Christina walked into the DADA classroom, noticing that Professor Raynor was not in the room yet. The previoius lesson had the Professor already waiting in the room, along with a pink carpet on the ground. However, that day held desks lined up in the room. She was confused to no end of the fact of this new arrangement. What got her even more confused was the fact that Raynor was doing something like the History of Magic Professor, placing all 3 years into the same class.
Christina sighed lightly, wondering why Raynor was doing that. She shrugged lightly, and walked over to a desk, placing her belongings on the desk. She looked around at the first years, second years, and one third year that were all present in the room. "Hi," she said to them, then continued, "I'm Christina," she said, introducing herself to all present in the room.

"Hey, Chistina" replied Anna. Then she turned to Lum. "So, you two are transfers? So am I. I just came here not to long ago. But I still get lost all the time. Then she continued looking around the room wondering when the prof. would walk into the classroom.

This situation felt a little odd, feeling a little flustered from the small attention Dias was getting. Though most of the time he doesn't think about the attention, when he did he usually locked up. Kind of like what was happening now, though Lum usually easily dispersed any attention on them with little effort. His thoughts drifted from it quickly though as he wondered exactly how many would be in this class and just exactly how have three different years would effect the class. He kept his eyes down at the desk hoping they he wouldn't have to talk back, seeing as he was already nervous about being here as it was and unconciously moved closer to Lum for comfort. It must have been stange seeing a hufflepuff so close to a slytherin.
Why did we have to transfer... Dias thought, thinking about having to adjust to so many new people, and the fact there was so many more students...

Anna looked at the boy for a second. She noticed that he really didn't say to much since she got here. "Maybe he is a little shy." she thought. "Well," she said to them "Maybe I should go unpack my things before the Prof. comes in." Then she staked off to an empty seat in the middle row. She hated to sit in the front.

You would think they have never seen a boy before.. Losing her interest in the others she returned her attention to the tanks in front of her. She could only imagine what awful things the professor would make them do. Not that she minded the subject. Her last professor had been more afraid of DADA so they were taught very little of it. Realizing this would be her first actual DADA lesson she perked up a little and pulled out an extra quill for the lesson.
