The desks in todays classroom were in a V shape with the top of the V facing towards the front of the room. This meant that everyone sitting at the desks would notice the giant map that was plastered over the blackboard today. The map was old looking and not many places were listed upon it. However somewhere near the bottum of the map there was a kelpie.
All over the walls of the classroom were pictures and paintings of wizards that appeared to be from all different places. They were all hung up on hooks and seemed to be the same kind of colour as the map.
Marvin at at the front of the classroom upon his desk. He never seemed to use the chair behind his desk. On his head sat a large feathery head dress such as you would probably see muggle version's on indians wear. He waited for his 6th years class to arrive.

"Aw sweet, we going to play a game today, Professor?" he asked the man. Even though Tristan didn't as much like History of Magic but this teacher was by far the funniest professor he has had in a while. But he really wanted to know what the reason was for the desks. He didn't even move to go to one and just stayed put until he heard the professor's response. That is if he does respond back.

Marvin had watched Tristan walk into the classroom and he just smiled at him when he asked a question. He knew the kid was curious but telling him would just ruin all the fun. Afterall what was the point of a lesson if you knew what was to come? If you knew everything there wouldn't be any point of a lessons and surprises seemed to make things mroe interesting.
"You will see Mr Howard you will see" Marvin said to Tristan in his own misterious way. Just the same as he did in any lesson when a student asked what would be happening in his lesson. "Now take a seat if you please or walk around and have a look at the pictures which ever you choose" Marvin gave Tristan a warm smile before continueing "However I would avoid the third chair from the front of the right, if I were you. That one seems to have quite a wobble to it" Marvin gave Tristan a wink before turning his attention back to the door of the classroom to see if anyone else had decided to arrive yet.

Charlotte came in not too long, unsure if she wanted to come at all, or to any of the classes listed as her NEWTs. It would have been no use to her as she had no interest in pursuing Charlie's studies, but alas, she would just sit in some of these classes to avoid boredom and oversuspicion. It was bad enough that people were looking at her oddly.
As she entered, she made no greeting nor any sound as she sat in the middle by herself. At least this meant she didn't have to participate.

Alexis entered history of magic amazed that she passed this O.W.L. History was never one of her best subjects but oh well. Yet again, the huffle could tell that her head of house had something interesting planned for today's class but depending wether the actual subject was the same would determine if she stayed awake. She didn't go to sleep until two in the morning so yea, Alexis was tired.

This was one of Hiro's best courses, not because he found it overly interesting (though the current professor always had something up his sleeve) but because it was a very book oriented class. Books were something that he could pull off, just had to find or translate them to braille unlike transfiguration where you have to picture the object that you want the target to change into. The professor didn't sound like he had a knight's helmet on so it didn't seem likely that Charlie would be handed a sword this time around.

Drew wasn't a fan of history, finding it a bit dull learning dates and whatnot. Sure, there were some interesting moments, but he would rather read about them than sit in a class and listen to a boring lecture or write a stupid report.
But he had made the grade to continue so he figured he had better show up. It killed an hour, right?

There was no extra effort put in to get to this class on time. Many a complaint had Brandon heard of History of Magic in the past, but some people were saying that the newest professor was the best. Brandon was going to make that judgment for himself. When he entered the room, Brandon looked at the way the desks were set up, and had no desire to be anywhere near the front. A large map on the blackboard put the idea in his head that this class was going to be as boring as everyone had said it was, so the Slytherin dragged himself to the back. He wasn't going to sit anywhere else.
Once he'd taken up a seat, Brandon dropped his bag on the ground next to him, not caring that some of the contents had spilled out. His head went down to the desk and the Slytherin's eyes closed, preparing for another nap.

The fact that Seanna wasn't here last term for many of her classes was probably the reason why Seanna didn't know very many of the new Professors. Walking into the History Of Magic classroom, Seanna noticed a very strange man standing at the front of the classroom with a feathery head on his head, what was more, Seanna was yet to discover that this man was also her Hoh, whom she hadn't met yet.
Seanna's eyes traveled over the room and spotted a new person sitting at the back, or well maybe, a person that Seanna hadn't met yet and so with her intentions of getting to know her fellow sixth years better, Seanna ambled up to the back of the classroom and sat herself down next to what she observed to be a Slytherin. Poking the boy in the shoulder with her finger, Seanna gave him a cheery grin and a greeting of, "Hi, I'm Seanna."

Marvin decided he had allowed enough time for his 6th years to arrive and if there was anyone else then they would be late. But he doubted there would be many. He seemed to loose quite a few students in the transition of owls to newts. But still it was time to begin the lesson and now seemed like just as good of time as any. "Its good to see you have all decided to continue on with History of Magic in your Newts" Marvin said with a smile around at the classroom. He wasn't about to give them a lecture on how important their newts were because he was sure they had already suffered through that lecture in most of their other classes already, and if they hadn't they soon would.
"As you should all well know, all around the world there are, and have been, different kinds of witches and wizards. Today we will be looking at the different sorts of witches and wizards from the past and where they are from. Most of them you will have studied in previous years so this is more of an overview to remind you of them" Marvin gave them a smile before continueing on.
"All around the room you will see different paintings of witches and wizards from the past, from around the world, I would like some volunteer's to choose a picture and then come up the front and tell me what part of the world that witch or wizard is from and anything that they know about them" They students had 7 different choices South American Wizards, European Wizards, Lapp shamans from Northern Europe, Arabian Sages, Indian Fakirs, Chinese Masters and the ancient Egyption wizards. Marvin knew he had had Hiro in his sixth year class so under most of the pictures was a little braille tag with the name of the type of wizard that it was, but also a few of the pictures (the ones generally without tags) were touch and feel pictures which poked out rather than being flat, they were made of materials and other things so you could feel them and sort of guess what they were. However he also knew Hiro would have mention of all of the witches and wizards in his book.

"Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim, 1486-1535, German mystic, writer, astrologer, and alchemist. He may also be considered an early feminist," Drew started, seeing as no one else seemed willing to answer. History was one of his least favorite subjects, but most of the pictures he recognized easily. He had been collecting Chocolate Frog cards since he was a little kid.
"Rumour has it that he had consorted with demons and after he died, he released a black dog which had been his familiar. This black dog is known to most of us as the Grim." He could probably say a bit more, but why?
