Taking a shower that morning had been difficult, between the increasingly bad cold... the gagging at every little smell, and the incessant itching all over Alexander's back in places he couldn't see. Well, couldn't see without a mirror any ways... As he stepped his body out of the shower that morning, Alexander had held himself up against the stall, and took a minute to breath. He felt as if he were going to pass out between the spells of lightheadedness, and his gag reflex was almost too much to bare. It was then, as his head was hung, he reached over to scratch again, his side itching slightly. A patch of red was forming there, and as he saw it, Alexander eyes opened wide as he tried to convince himself that it was nothing but red from being scratched. Hurriedly, however, he made his way over to the bathroom mirror, to check out the patch.
What he saw was even worse than a tiny red patch. Yes, he had started to have a fever, and there were times where he had thought he saw something when he did not, but all of those things were minor to Alexander and he thought that he was just over working himself as the sickness was spreading throughout his body. What he didn't know, was what the disease really was, and as he looked in the mirror, he finally saw more than just itchy bumps on his side. He turned, examining his back, where red scabby bumps had formed, around them, a darkish green tinge was forming as well. The boy almost started crying right there on the spot as he started to rub and scratch where they were. What was going on? Why was his skin GREEN[/I]. Ignoring the nausea for a moment, the lightheadedness for another, and finally his burning throat that seemed to never end, Alexander could hardly keep himself from screaming out.
It was why he raced himself, after dressing of course, to the hospital wing; finally giving in to the fact that he was more sick than he had thought to begin with. "Nurse! Nurse!" he said, his voice cracking slightly as he tried not to lose it then and there. There had to be something she could do... something she could give him to make the green bumps go away. Alexander didn't know what was going on, but there were reasons why his skin was so sensitive to the virus.
Due to his OCD and all of the creams and such that he used for it, his skin was more assessable for the virus to manifest and grow, and therefore the pox became the most prevalent symptom that the boy had. He was sick, that was for sure, and his symptoms came milder in all other forms, but they had come as well, and only in almost half the time. They would have increasingly become worse, but Alexander did not know that, nor did he know what was going on or that the green would more likely be permanent on his body. Everything else would fade...
...but the green he would find would ultimately stay.
