A large mat was set across in the middle of the room. This lesson was going to be useful today. What they should of learned last year and two years ago, should be kept in their heads. Because, today they were going to learn how to shield themselves from hexes. Was everyone going to be doing this today? Depends on the attitude and enthusiasm of the class. The third and fourth years were going to learn what the two main hexes were, but next year they should know how to defend. He did managed to walk to the board and began to write.

With O.W.L examinations approaching, Anna had really started hitting the books while trying to complete the mountain of homework teachers have been dishing out. So with that, the gryff was really tired. Perhaps she really should try going to sleep tonight. In the meantime, she was trudging on the way to Charms. One of the fifth year's favorite classes and one of the least of her exams to worry about she entered the classroom to an unfamiliar sight.
All the desks had been moved to the walls and a large matt replaced the large space they would have been. Well, she had been the first one to class. Standing there like an idiot Anna turned to face the board to read the small note. "If something bad happens?" she repeated. What in the world does he mean by if? We've already have several bad things happen to us. she thought gruffly while waiting for the rest of the fifth years to show up.

When Felicity walked into the room, she was tempted to turn and walk right back out after seeing the note on the board. Sitting on the floor wasn't a problem, learning something that would be needed in the future if bad things happened, not a problem. So, wherein did the problem lie? It laid within the ideas that surrounded her mind of what it could be they would be learning. Things, bad things, had already happened, did something more need to happen? She almost lost Celina's friendship, she'd lost Drew as a boyfriend, and everything bad that happened in January. What did they really need to learn? They needed real super heroes to come out of the comic pages and save them, that's what they needed.
"Hi Anna," Felicity greeted her fellow Gryffindor, and while it sounded like she didn't like the girl, it wasn't the case at all. No, Felicity didn't know her too well, but she liked her just fine, the idea of the class was bothering her, and it hadn't even technically started yet.

Connor quirked his head to the side a bit as he walked into charms. The large mat was a bit puzzling, but he shook his head slightly and read the writing on it that had just been placed there by Professor Snow seconds before. Welcome to class, fifth years! All the desks are aligned and adjacent to the wall. You will be sitting down today. You will learn something today that you will DEFINITELY need in the future if something bad happens. He made his way over to one of the walls and leaned against it, glancing around at the other two students that had already entered the classroom. Connor took the time now to look through his bag for a book he had to return to the library but had mysteriously dissapeared on him.

Anna stired at the sound of her own name and turned around to find Felicity coming in. "Hey Felicity." she smiled in return. However her fellow lioness seemed not to be too thrilled over being in charms today. "Guessing today's class isn't to exciting for you huh." Anna continued looking back at the board. Yea, great message the professor was trying to put out there. Make students want to leave when the entered. But still, it couldn't hurt to learn something as long as it wasn't some kind of past reveiw or something. Thanks to OWLs, the gryff had enough of reveiws.

"No, not really," the blonde answered truthfully. Anna was not only in her same year, but her House as well, it was likely she saw Felicity's horrible wandwork more than many. As the fifth year saw it, there was no reason to try and tell a lie; even if she did, it was also likely to be seen through. She just wasn't a good liar, no matter what. Even with some little white lies she could barely get through them.
Walking closer to the fellow lioness, the blonde dropped her voice slightly. Ever since the events of January she really hadn't been keen on having wands pointed at her, nor pointing wands at others.
"Do...do you know what charm we're to be using?" she asked. There were millions of them, or at least hundreds, and Felicity didn't have enough time in the day to memorize all of them, or barely even look at her syllabus. Maybe the professor hadn't seen her and she could just sneak out? Doubtful.

"Unbelieveable," he said in a sigh. "Not only do they miss class, but they miss out on something good. I thank you, you three. I award you three +10 points for your houses for class participation," he said. He walked over to the middle of the mat. He sighed and opened his mouth.
"Today, your going to learn a charm that you will need to defend yourselves incase something bad every happens," he said. He pulled out his wand. "You step into this motion," he said as he stepped into the motion. "Disarm, and wave your wand and PROTEGO!" he yelled as a shield like charm came out of his wand. He then stopped it.
"This charm is not easy," he said. "This charm is not hard to learn, but you got to use your emotions towards it. Pretend your about to cry and just yell out 'Protego'. Now, what I want you three to do is do exactly how I did it, but not say the charm yet. Get to learn the routine, then when your ready. Tell me," he said.
"Because, we are going to do a friendly Dueling today," he said.
((Class has begun, if you want to post in, then you must be late.))

The jaw of the blonde dropped. Ten points just for being in a class there were only three people at? If she was getting that many points just for being there, then what kind of a lesson was this really going to be? Ten points just for attending a class...where in the world was Celina? Felicity needed to know, her best friend wouldn't miss a class for any good old reason, maybe she was hiding?
Defending oneself was a good thing to know how to do. Felicity knew that since the incident in January. Though, she hadn't had a wand then so even knowing the spell wouldn't have helped her any. Wait...disarm and wave your wand? That didn't make any sense, unless he meant to disarm the other person that's what protego did, but the what came out of the wand didn't look like it could disarm an opponent, it looked kind of a like a battleshielf, somewhat.
Ignoring the previous display, Felicity felt her stomach tighten a little bit and she listened to him. Wait...it wasn't easy but it wasn't hard? Did that mean it was an average spell to learn? Average spells to others were difficult fot the blonde. And pretending to cry? What if she did just cry, would that work? Felicity felt like doing that right at the moment.
"WHAT?!" Felicity shouted, eyes wide, all colour gone from her face. They were dueling? Panic mode was now on. "Professor...I need to leave."
The lioness couldn't stay there and duel, she'd hurt someone, someone would hurt her, no. It wasn't going to happen and she started backing up toward the door. Hopefully it wouldn't be locked.

Anna's eyes widened a bit when the professor announced the subject of dueling, not out of horror however. The girl was pretty good at casting spells and read spell books in her spare time when not worrying about OWLs and other things she had yet to accomplish. She kind of had hopes for becoming an auror but that was still a big if. Especially since you had to get top grades in order to go into that sort of professon. Unfortunatly not everyone in the room took the news the same way.
"WHAT?!" Anna heard her fellow lioness shout and backing toward the door. A worried look spread on the gryffies face. Looking back toward the professor the sixteen year old wondered what he was going to do. If Felicity didn't want to do this than Anna wasn't going to stop her but Snow just might...

He saw that Felicity was heading for the door. Knowing something had to happen to her. The rumors going around the school. He couldn't blame her. He then nodded. "Miss Hjort, see me in my office after class," he said to her. He wasn't going to deduct points for leaving the class. But maybe this dueling was going to be right for Felicity. So, he was going to let her go off. He then noticed the two left.
"Anna, Conner. Seems to me, you two are the only ones going to learn this today. You don't have to do this, if you don't want. But are you willing to learn today, you two?" he asked.
In his mind, he shook his head. He knew she was going through trouble times right now.

Now she was in trouble?! All Felicity wanted was a little bit of rest, no drama, and definitely no wands, and she was in trouble? Was it not normal to be frightened to death at having a wand pointed in your direction? To have someone else controlling your fate because anything good or evil could be issued from a wand?
Unable to say anything, Felicity nodded her head, making the blonde locks bounce up and down. Trouble for not wanting to go through a class that could endanger lives? Not only hers, but other lives as well?
What was the world coming to? All right, so it was a bit dramatic, but really? Could she help it if she now knew what could happen when someone was on the other end of a wand?
"I'll...I'll be in the cor...corridor, sir." Yes, she'd wait out in the corridor for him, and hopefully not hear any screams and shouts of terror and pain. Those memories still haunted her every so often, but at least she wasn't sleeping in the bathroom anymore.

'Disarm, and wave your wand and PROTEGO!' Connor nodded as he listened to Professor Snow tell them the theory and how to perform the shielding spell. He rolled up the sleeves on his shirt as he stood up from where he had been sitting and leaned against a desk, his wand in his hand. Just then ad Felicity yelled 'What!?' he looked over to her curiously. A mild freak out, he wasn't too sure why she was so against a little duel. It wasn't like anyone was going to get hurt, this was a classroom of course. He quirked his head curiously at the girl but turned back to Snow as he addressed him and Anna.
" Yes, sir. " Connor responded to the Professor's question of if he was willing to learn the spell.

Anna's head kept turning from Snow to Felicity as the whole thing went. The professor did not take away house points but it did seem her fellow lion was in trouble. She felt sorry for Felicity and wanted to do something but what? Forcing her to duel was out of the question, there was no way Anna could do that and the professor was right in seeing that also. But now Snow's attention focused on his two remaining students as he turned to ask if they were willing to learn the lesson.
Nodding her head, Anna pulled out her wand and said, "Yes professor." Time to see how things were going to turn out.

SLAM!
The door burst open, revealing a hunched over, sweaty Newt, heaving as he desperately fought to regain his breath. He looked very much worse for rare as his robes were buttoned improperly and his school shirt untucked. Today was definitely not a good day for the young Hufflepuff. He woke up late, spent a good amount of time searching for his books and quill, and he even somehow got lost in the dungeons, which was out of the way from his destination.
"What's happening?" Newt asked, eyes seeing Felicity near the door who looked like she wanted to be somewhere else entirely. His eyes lingered on her for a few more seconds before he looked back towards the Professor, "Pardon my lateness Professor."
