Alex looked up at Andrew, then he stood up and walked over to the jar. Alex then grabbed a pinch and blew it, spreading it. Instead of dust though, blue butterflies came flyig out of his hand. "Illusion powder, used by egyptian magicians to entertain the pharaoh and his guests. Very creative and fun stuff, my 3rd years to 5th years know this." he said, then he closed the jar and let the illusion butterflies fly about.
Alex then walked over to the crate and took an odd looking horn, then he took the book and looked it up. Alex nearly dropped the horn and then he moved fast to catch it, No slip ups, this is a sensitive artifact he thought. Alex read the entry on the Griffin caller and gulped, then he put the book down and then slowly moved to the shelf. I don't need another blow up he thought, Alex then searched and empty part of the shelf and then placed the Griffin caller carefully in place. "No one touch these, these are artifacts that I'll be having sent back to my colleagues" he imformed them, not looking at them.

"HEY!" Drew cried out angrily, jumping back and covering his airways as the man blew the stuff into the room. "I asked you what was in it, not to give me a friggin' demonstration!" The Ravenclaw was pissed to say the least. There were certain magical substances that he was deathly allergic to. Drew just hoped none of them were in that stupid powder that was now floating in the air and inevitably would end up in his lungs.
Of course, they'd all find out in about ten minutes once the tiniest bit of the substance had a moment to settle into his air passages. Was this man so nuts that he didn't even think of the ramifications of his actions?

Alex looked at Andrew "This powder is not a trigger for allergic reaction, it turns to air and makes illusions. I'm a historian and I know these kind of things, most of my colleagues happen to have dust allergies too and we've used this powder plenty of times mr. thornton" he said calmly. Alex wasn't about to loose his temper just because of this, he was already ignoring that fact and trying to do what he did back then, hide his emotions.
This kid is too sensitive he thought as he walked away from the shelf and back to the crate, Alex then picked up the boxes and the collar and placed them back on the crate, then he closed the crate and placed the book on top of it. "Is there anything else you want to know mr. thornton?" he asked, looking calmly at the teenager.

"I want to know what's in it!" Drew cried out, fighting to keep the panic from his voice. If Griffiths thought he was being too sensitive about something like this, he had yet to meet Alexander. This was not some dumb dust allergy Drew had.
And despite what the man said, giving his "assurance" that he was a "historian" and therefore knew this stuff, Drew was not convinced. Was the guy a potions master as well? Drew was smart enough to know that if this stuff turned to air, it could not make illusions of any sort. Some trace of it had to be in the atmosphere for this images to appear. If it all turned to air, nothing would be visible.
And how had Griffiths known he was concerned about an allergy? Drew hadn't said it, but had only put his arm up to his face. That was a clear sign that he didn't want to breath the stuff, but did that specify an allergy? Drew wasn't sure. It could have just been concerns over general toxins.

"If you must know, then you wont like it at all when you know what kind of things make this illusion" he said, he took the tin of powder he had and waved his wand over it and muttered a few incantations that cancels out the appearance of powder. alex withrew his wand after a few moments to reveal small diced rock like substances that now was almost overlapping the tin can. "happy now Mr. Thornton? You and Felicity are the first students to know the secret of this powder" he said, then he took five of the diced substances and threw it in the air, it then molded into 5 blue butterflies.
Alex then returned the powder look of the illusion substance and then returned it to his table, "Any more question mr. Thornton?" he asked. He had seen his colleagues and they act the same as Andrew when they are trying to block dust, so they wont breathe it in. They usually make the allergic colleagues use the bubble head charm or just stay behind, Alex then picked up the crate and carried it beside his desk. Alex then looked from Andrew to Felicity, waiting for someone to speak up.

Of course, if Drew had been given any warning, he would have done something about protecting himself, first by explaining the situation and asking if the man would refrain from using the powder, and then moving to other options if Griffiths still insisted. It had been the lack of warning that had upset Drew above anything. But this man seemed more interested in performing the flashy sort of magic that Muggle illusionists used than actually give any information.
Griffiths was obviously not taking his concerns seriously, trying to appease him like a child instead of answering his question. On the good side, The tightness he was feeling in his chest was probably due more to psychosomatic reasons than actual lung closure. "No, I'm not happy. You didn't tell me what's in the powder. Why would you think I wouldn't like knowing? I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to know."

((You guys, you really need to try to not go so far and leave me in the dust like this…it makes playing catch up kind of hard, and while I know my being here may be spotty for a bit, can we please not go so far beyond where I really have no chance to insert Felicity’s reactions and have them make sense for you to react along with them?))
Read Jax’s notes, she could do that. But again, why did the fourth years know about the powder and not anyone else? Or was she the only one that had managed to miss that lesson and therefore she was the only one lost on what the powder was? However, as for reading the notes, her hands were still clutched on the parchment, but her eyes were going back and forth between the madman and Drew. She was glad he was there, but why wasn’t he telling her she had to go? Or she was wanted by someone higher up than Griffiths was?
But catching Drew’s question, the only answer she could give was a shrug. She wasn’t hurt that she was aware of, nor was she really in any danger if the thing was only an illusion. Frightened, yes, she was frightened. That was a good way of putting how she was, but it didn’t confirm whether she was all right or not. And though her attention was on Drew, she caught something about their Muggle Studies professor. What about van Aller? Had he talked to the Slytherin Head of House about her? She surely hoped not. The only thing the woman would be sure to say would be something to the effect of how she was disrespectful, and Felicity really didn’t think she was for the most part. But she’d wanted a question answered and felt she deserved the answer. However, her attention was drawn back the Ravenclaw when he asked what was in the powder. Well, she could’ve answered, but she hadn’t read the notes yet.
But, Griffiths didn’t even answer Drew’s question. He just told him what it was, which was more than he’d done for the blonde. And he even made cute little butterflies rather than a man-eating creature that was ready to kill! She would’ve preferred seeing the butterflies over anything else, even if the point of his bringing a Manticore in was to show her the use of the music box he’d found.
Drew’s reaction alarmed Felicity a little, not really sure why he sounded so angry. Frightened she could understand, but he wasn’t facing an angry creature either. And while she knew he was allergic to asphodel and kiwi, she didn’t think of allergies when he covered his nose and mouth. Did he think it was dangerous?
The catch in Drew’s voice made Felicity concerned. She really thought the possibilities of what the stuff created would be more dangerous than the ingredients used in it, unless they were poisonous and were going to slowly kill them all. But, she was sure, even with as mad as the man was, he wouldn’t do something like that, wouldn’t it be far too messy and dangerous?
Pulling her knees up to her chest, Felicity still didn’t feel like she could move from the wall. She was too worried about Drew to bother trying to read off from Jax’s paper what was in the powder, but she really wished she could, just to answer his question for him. It didn’t sound like the professor was too keen on doing so, and she didn’t think it was right to not answer Drew. Why was he so worried about it though?
And again, Drew’s question hadn’t been answer. Sure, the madman showed them another trick, but they were rocks…that didn’t tell them what the powder was made of. It did, but not really. They could see what it was, but unless Drew knew what the rocks were, he still didn’t know what the powder was made from. And despite being the first students to know what it was, Felicity wasn’t very proud of the fact at all.
“Drew…?” the blonde trailed off, uncertain. Would he be mad if she tried to get him to calm down a little? And if he thought the powder was highly dangerous, then he wouldn’t be standing there still, would he? Felicity really hoped not. If it was dangerous, or he thought it could be, shouldn’t they be going to find someone? Even Raynor? Her office wasn’t very far away.
If only she felt she could read the notes without not understanding them…

"I just gave you the answers boy, rocks. Simple, yet magical rocks. The difference between a stereotype and a normal student is it will be obvious that the dust were really rocks" he said, raising an eyebrow at Andrew. People become dim witted by the second he thought, looking at Andrew. "These rocks are the one's making the illusions, they make the major component next it pouring of magical potion. The potions known components are most of the ingredients of the polyjuice potion and a few herbs from Egypt" he explained.
Alex then walked over to a crate and pulled out a staff, he put it on his desk and then he took the cup and pendant that were wrapped in cloths to make sure that no one touches them. "Any more concerns Andrew?" he asked, sitting down behind his desk and writing a letter to one of his colleagues. I need to calm this boy down and tell him all I know about an illusion substance because of his anxiety and I need to sort things with my colleagues, what's next? a teacher comes in? he thought.
((Sorry about that))

(Invited thread crash)
Sonofa...
If Alfonz wasn't having a bad enough day preparing the pitch for the first swing of quidditch games to come, without the help of his deadbeat boss, now he had to go back to the office of the new professor that he had so blatantly hated. How could Celina have forgotten her textbook in that classroom? Alfonz had told her she still had to go to class, but leaving stuff in there?! Now that was nothing he suggested of her to do. Hand's shoved in his pockets, Alfonz grumbled to himself annoyed as all hell that Celina couldn't have just gone and asked for herself for her text book back.
It's not like she didn't have friends...someone who could go with her. Alfonz didn't like that idea too much either, but Celna was the one whom kept on telling him that they were so great. Frustrated like, he sighed and narrowed his cold hard stare as he neared the room. Surprisingly, the door was open, just beyond the door Alfonz saw the back of a tall brown haired kid, a blond crouched against a wall, and Griffiths by his desk somewhat arguing with the guy.
Any more concerns, Andrew?
Well, Alfonz knew he recognized the blond sitting against the wall, but now the taller guy was undeniably known as well. See, Celina definitely could have done this by her self.
"He should have more, seeing that it seems you're doing the same damn thing I warned you about doing, Griffiths," Alfonz growled. If anyone asked, he wasn't there defending Celina's friend....he was just there to grab his sister's fricken textbook.

Alex looked at Alfonz as he just entered his office "What the hell gives you a right to walk in my office and threaten me jedynak?" he asked, ignoring Andrew and Felicity. He looked at the guy and frowned, "I don't remember telling you to come here as you please" he added. What the hell could have braught this guy here than make him irritated and annoyed, he couldn't possibly make Celina an excuse. There wasn't anything here of Celina's, if there was he would have just sent it to her himself.
Alex stood next to his table with raised eyebrows and a frown, while waiting for Alfonz to answer his question. Annoying him was something Alfonz Jedynak could easily do by just looking at him.

{Sorry. I didn't think we had gone that far}
Well, the guy was an idiot of course. There were zillions of different kinds of rocks made up of a plethera of minerals, many of them looking like the other, and while Drew's allergies were all plant based, "magical rocks" was hardly an answer. Many rocks and minerals had magical properties.
The Ravenclaw didn't even comment on the man's attempt to cut him down. While it was clearly meant to be some sort of an insult, it didn't even make sense, so what was the point? The man was an idiot and idiots were obviously too stupid to realize that powders could be made from just about anything. Idiots were also too stupid to give any real answers so there was no use trying to get them from the man. Drew was an excellent student and figured if he really wanted to know, he could find the answer to what these "magical Egyptian rocks" were somewhere.
Drew had already tuned the man out as he started babbling about Polyjuice. He was very familiar with the ingredients of that potion and knew that minerals were not a component. The closest thing might be the bicorn horn powder, but that was animal based... imagine. A powder made of something not rocks... Instead of concerning himself with the rantings of a madman, he turned his attention to the Gryffindor. "I'm sorry. It just caught me off guard," he told her softly, knowing he hadn't helped the situation any by yelling at the guy. Here he was, concerned about her safety and he had probably made things worse.
Any more concerns, Andrew? It barely registered with Drew that the man was speaking to him and while the use of his name had made that bit clear, it was the next voice that really caught Drew's attention.
He should have more, seeing that it seems you're doing the same damn thing I warned you about doing, Griffiths.
The arrival surprised Drew as did the backing. Drew doubted it was personal, and figured this was probably one of the few times he would be in agreement with Alfonz Jedynak... and Van Aller. Griffiths had said something earlier about Van Aller giving him a hard time. Maybe the woman wasn't so bad after all.

Finally the professor explained it to them, without Felicity actually having to read Jax's paper. But weren't a number of stones able to be used for their magical powers? Selenite was a stone for clearing the mind and making one more aware; kyanite helped to clear communication ways and was calming; azurite released stress and helped creativity; and those were only what her mum had taught her about the muggle belief of stones magical properties. She knew they could be powdered and used in potions and other such things, and she was sure they were likely used in divinations classes.
And although he said they were used near a potion being brewed, some of the same ingredients from the Polyjuice, he only added a few herbal Egyptian plants. But which ones? There were millions of herbs, so which went in the potion? And what potion were they brewed near?
Felicity was only glad the man wasn't asking her if she had anymore questions, because she didn't have any. She wasn't sure if he was demanding more questions or if he was being sarcastic and telling them not to ask any more. But the man's question wasn't answered by Drew, it was answered by a man with a much deeper voice and a stockier figure. Felicity's eyes looked past Drew and at Celina's brother. What was he doing there? Maybe he was there for her? Did someone actually send Drew down for her and since he was taking so long they sent Alfonz? But the only person Felicity could think of sending the two males was Celina, and from what she had told Felicity of her brother, he wasn't likely to do Celina's bidding to get her friend out of detention.
Nodding at Drew, her eyes traveled back to him as she beckoned him closer to her. She wanted to get up but didn't trust her legs not to wobble and make her fall back down. On top of that, she liked having Drew near when she was frightened, and liked being near him when she could tell he wasn't happy and was getting close to being very angry.

Alfonz stood in the entrance as Griffiths decided to yell out at him and ask him all sorts of pointless questions. “Trust me, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have to,” he growled. Alfonz glanced at Felicity and his eyes softened for just brief moments before slowly looking back at Griffiths and burned up from the inside. Celina hadn’t told him everything from that one class; he just knew it. If this was how the professor treated his students in his office, Alfonz could just imagine what he had done to Celina in the empty classroom.
“Door was open. I have as much right to walk in, as these two have the right to walk out. Are you seriously causing more problems?” Alfonz was annoyed already by the fact he had to be there, let alone that it seemed as if he was still trying his luck. “There a problem here, Thornton?” Alfonz asked, not taking his eyes off of the History of Magic Professor.
Alfonz just wanted to make problems, and he knew it. But at the same time, no one was arguing against him or telling him to leave…well, other than Griffiths whom he hardly thought of as a superior. “Watch yourself, Griffiths,” Alfonz words were filled with venom as he spoke. “Celina left her Ancient Runes textbook in your classroom. Did you find one or not?”

"No textbooks in my classroom, I checked before my 1st years and 2nd years came" he said, looking really annoyed now. "Thornton can go, but Felicity is not doen with her detention" he said, looking at Jedynak still. "If you have nothing moe to say Jedynak, then leave. Thornton, unless you want to know how long detention lasts you can go too" he said, turning to Andrew for a moment before looking at Jedynak again.
"I'm giving detention Jedynak, what about you? prowling around the school?" he retorted, rather coldly now. If Jedynak was gonna cause trouble it better not be here and with the presence of two students, in an office full of possibly dangerous artifacts and irreplaceable one's. "I'm a history teacher, not a runes teacher. And if Celina did drop something in my classroom, I wouldn't bother to let you walk here, I would have sent it to her myself" he said, still looking at Alfonz.

Drew went over to Felicity and put a hand out to draw her close. It bothered him that she seemed so distressed and it concerned him that his yelling had probably added to it. "I'm not leaving here without you," he told her quietly. Nope, he was staying there whether she liked it or not.
He turned briefly to Alfonz when the Quidditch player spoke directly to him. "No sir, nothing out of the ordinary here," Drew answered in a bold and clear voice, adding a slight smirk and giving Alfonz the title of respect just to keep it from Griffiths. "Just the usual working alone with girls behind closed doors and then scaring the snot out of them."
"I'd also like to know why a girl gets a month's worth of detention when she asks a simple question and then walks out of the classroom because the man in charge threatens her... but a guy who does the same exact thing is politely asked to scram." Drew spoke with conviction, glaring at the man who ran the History classes. "Because I'm not going anywhere without her."
