The owl had followed her all the way down here from the owlrey. Fyona had attached a letter to the owl's leg intended for her parent's eyes. Instead the bird had taken after her and followed her all the way down to the sixth floor. Or at least almost all the way to sixth floor. She was standing only a few steps above the sixth floor landing. She had one creamy hand on the banister of the staircase, and the other was balled into a fist and was being shaken roughly at the bird flying behind her. Fyona was turned on the stairs facing the seventh floor, rather than looking down at the sixth floor landing. She was shouting at Iradi to go somewhere, preferably to deliver the letters, but not to follow her through the castle. Iradi always did this too. With frustration Fyona kept shaking her fist at her bird and Iradi hooted back as if in protest of having to head out into the cold that awaited her outside the castle walls.
The auburn haired girl had returned from her house, after spending almost all of winter break there. On her last day home she had been taken to the Festival of Yule and the excitement of that night had lasted until morning when she awoke in her bed in the girl's dormitory. After quickly getting dressed, eating, wandering aimlessly, and deciding to write a letter, Fyona had felt like today was her day. Until Iradi started to act like a complete nutter like usual. Why can't I have a normal bird that likes to deliver my letters when I give them to her, or who doesn't need a bribe to take to the skies? Despite the bird's refusal to even move from her perch at times Fyona loved her. She also knew that somewhere inside her bird heart Iradi liked her too.
Fyona, still shaking her fists, continued to rant at the bird until Iradi hooted once more and flew towards her owner. Fyona moved back in surprised, but then remembered that she was standing on steps. One of her feet slipped as Iradi flew back up the stairs and out of sight. In her surprise Fyona had let go of the banister, but this sent her tottering even more on the steps than she already was. She tried to reach out for the banister again, but missed as she felt herself falling backwards towards the sixth floor.

The holidays had been most enjoyable for the third year puff. He had spent some of it at the school, but the majority he had spent with his mom and dad at home. They had managed to get a week or two off, at the same time, which was a miracle. Normally if one had to work the other was off and vise versa, but it seemed that his dad had thrown a bit of his weight around and gotten what he wanted. This meant that the holidays were even better than they normally were because they got to go on a couple short trips together.
Now, however, he was back at the school and preparing for his lessons again. Something much less fun than what he had done over the break, but necessary all the same. Wandering down to the Hufflepuff common room from the seventh floor he had managed to start descending the steps of the stair case in-between the sixth and seventh at the exact same time as he heard some one screaming at their owl. He had barely turned the corner and caught a glimpse of her when she started to fall backwards or someway. All he knew was that it looked like she was going to fall down the stairs and hit the sixth floor corridor. Rushing in her direction he wondered if he would get there in time.

Wide grey-green eyes took in the figure of a boy rushing towards her as she fell down just one of the many steps to come. She flew past the one directly behind the step she had been standing on, and she fell sideways on a step below that one. As she hit the stone step she landed directly on her arm and a jet of pain shot up in that arm as she continued to fall. In that moment her mind completely forgot about the blond haired blue eyed boy that had been running towards her. In that moment he seemed to be in another dimension. Finally she rolled down the other steps to land hard on the sixth floor landing. A stream of curses flew to mind, but what came out of her mouth was a whimper as she sat up. At first she was little dazed and confused. Then a little panic set in as she thought maybe she had hurt herself really bad since everywhere seemed to hurt. Then she calmed down as she thought of her bird. Damn bird! Stupid stupid bird! Of course Iradi was not stupid, and she had perhaps intended just for this to happen. Fyona's penance for shaking her fist and yelling. Her butt hurt and her arm hurt. When she rolled down the steps her neck had twisted so now it felt she had slept on it wrong or something.
Her left knee may have been bleeding, but that could have been the red dots that were pulsing everywhere. Yes, pulsing. There were other colored dots too but Fyona couldn't think of a name for them. They were just....other colors. There had not been many steps to fall down and that might have saved her a broken neck. That might have save her a lot of things actually. She had read somewhere that people died from falling down steps. Slowly she stood up, but her back and arm howled in protest. So she stayed where she was, another whimper escaping between her lips.

Austin was horrified by the fact that he couldn't reach her in time. Falling down that many stairs had to be painful and he could only imagine how she was feeling as he reached the top of the stairs and looked down. It looked like she was in pretty bad shape, but at least it didn't look like she had fallen and broken her neck or anything. Jumping down the stairs two at a time he rushed to see if she was indeed alright or if there was anything that he could possibly do for her.
"Are you alright?" he asked as he reached the girls side, hoping that the answer would be yes, that was if she was even good enough to give him an actual answer.

As she sat on the ground trying to collect herself two hazy and green spotted figures descended the steps and Fyona just watched with a slightly dazed expression still on her face. Only when they got close enough to her could she tell that they were students. Twin students, but the green spots where just more of the same colored spots that loomed everywhere in her vision. "Marr 'ootaw right?" It sounded distant and she couldn't even make out what he was saying. Still that dazed expression was on her face, though internal panic was building up still. Her body still ached and that was the first thing that her mind wanted her to focus on. Not the blonde thing speaking to her. It wanted her to check and see if her knee really was bleeding, or if she had sprained her wrist, arm, ankle, anything. Her back ached and felt like a two-hundred pound man had been walking on her back.
It wasn't until the two students became one that she completely comprehended what he had said. "Yeah....Ummm, I think I'm alright," she said this but thought another thing. She knew that her knee hurt a lot and that if she tried to stand up again that her chances of ending back up on the floor were high. So she continued to sit where she was. Her eyes strayed to the part of her powder blue skirt which covered her right knee. Not wanting to know what she'd find there.

"You look a little banged up to me," Austin said bending down so that he was at the same height as her, and better able to talk to the girl. "But I'm glad to hear that it's nothing to serious." Had it been really serious she wouldn't have told him that she thought she was alright, so at least their was that going for her. What was with him. It seemed like everytime he had met a new person lately they were in peril and then had fallen and hurt themselves. Jeesh he hoped it was a coincidence and not the common factor of him. "Do you just want to sit there for a minute, or do you want to see if you can stand up?" Austin asked after a couple of seconds pause. He would gladly help her stand up if she thought she wanted to, and even needed his help. ((Sorry it took me awhile ))

((No problem))
She looked a little banged up......Well she supposed that was so, though right then and there her mind was not in the condition to make assessments for itself. She was too busy thinking about her arm and her knee and not much else. Not event the boy right before her. "Do you just want to sit there for a minute, or do you want to see if you can stand up?" [/u] Her eyes went to the boy and she seemed to be thinking over what he said. "Ummmmmm. Yeah." She nodded her head and then continued to sit there until the spots finally went away. Her vision cleared and she placed both her palms on the floor and tried to heft herself clumsily off the floor. There was some protest from her hurt arm and for a moment there she felt that she was going to go back down to the floor. Halfway through her action she gave her companion a smile hurt little smile. "I think I'm gonna need some help." She didn't want to try and get up by flexing her right knee; there would be more pain in store if she did.

"Alright, take your time," Austin said still crouched down as he waited to see if she would indeed be needing his help or not. It took her a few moments but then she seemed like she was going to give it a go with out his help. That was fine with him, he would just wait to make sure she could do it on her own, and it was a good thing he waited because a couple of seconds later and his help was in need. "Okay, let me help you," he said with a smile as he got to his feet and tried to help her to hers the best he could.

With his help she was finally able to stand on her two feet, but that was pretty much it. She was just kind of standing there with her knee feeling like jelly. She was actually surprised and she guessed that it must have showed on her face, but nonetheless it was what she felt. She had thought her knee would have been hurting much like her arm was hurting, so it was the lack of pain which made her eyes go wide. Her knee had gone numb with not much pain radiating from the area around it. She wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing, but either way she couldn't walk. Her knee felt like jelly and all she was doing was just standing there. Like there was this space between her thigh and her calf which was just a numb jelly like space. The sensation was weird and kept her standing where she was; with one hand gently clinging on to hand of the boy had come to save her. Even though he did less saving than she would have liked. Still he tried to help didn't he? "Thanks...," she trailed off, not able to say much more than that.
Normally she was talkative and more willing to initiate a conversation, but right now she was trying to not think about her aching arm and her back. Or anything else that might be hurting. The spots had cleared, and the double vision had gone away, she was thinking clearer now too. Only that was about it. What she needed was a nap.

"No problem, that's what I am here for," Austin said with a smile, still continuing to support her as best he could. He wasn't quite sure was was wrong with her, but she did look a little banged up. "So what's hurt? Do you think we need to get you to the hospital wing or something?" She didn't look like she needed that much help, but he couldn't be sure. It wasn't him feeling the pain of falling down all of those stairs so it was up to her. If she wanted to go then he would certainly help her get there and make sure she made it alright and got the help that she needed. "Cause I could help you there if you wanted." he added with a smile.

"Iono," was her first initial answer to his question. She really didn't want to go to the hospital wing. She was just a little banged up was all. No broken bones and no serious scars that she could see. Just a knee full of jelly and an arm that would be of useless to her for the time being. Not to mention a back that felt like it belonged to a stooped 80-year old than a twelve year old girl. "My knee is hurt I think. I don't...I can't really feel it," she said through clenched teeth as she moved her injured arm to point to the knee she was talking about. A stupid move which sent fresh pain shooting up her arm and made her fully aware of just how injured it was. It wasn't broken. If it was she would be screaming and hollering by now. Once when she was playing with her dolls on the sidewalk a neighborhood kid, Owen, came up to her on his shiny new bike. He wanted to show her one of the new tricks he learned and he sped off down the street. Unfortunately for him he didn't know the trick quite as well as he thought and he ended up on the ground with a broken arm. He was crying and everything.
So when Fyona imagined broken bones, that’s how she imagined one would act. It never occurred to her that she could have sprained anything.
"My arm and back hurts too," she added.
