Sixth floor. Only two more to go. But Arianna didn't want to finish her trek up to Ravenclaw just yet. She had left Krissy on the first floor, assuring the other girl that she was fine, then continued up to the one place she didn't want to be right now. And the odd thing was, she wasn't sure why.
Pausing near a window, Arianna set her bag, and the little kitten in her arms, on the floor and leaned her head against the glass, her warm breath creating a fog as she gazed out over the white landscape below. Her hand reached lazily into her pocket and pulled out a small package wrapped in pretty blue paper. A birthday gift from Che, quietly slipped into her pocket as they said their good-byes in London before she and Krissy headed back to school. Arianna supposed it could count as a Christmas present, too, though they didn't celebrate the holiday in Qui-lin. Whatever it was, Arianna was almost afraid to open it.
"I know what you want from me," she set the gift on the windowsill and spoke quietly to it as though the boy himself were standing there. Her head shook slightly and a small tear escaped only to be quickly wiped away. She hardly noticed that Juniper was now playing with the laces of her shoes. "But I can't give it to you."

Lily was walking back to Ravenclaw herself. She saw Ari facing the window, talking to someone who wasn't there. Had Ari hit her head? Ari had tried to help her before, not that she would listen, but you know when you consider someone a friend you try to help them. And Lily most certainly hoped Ari considered her a friend. "Are you alright Ari?" She said quietly, so as not to startle her.

Quickly wiping at her face to rid it of any trace of tears, Arianna turned to Lily and slowly nodded her head.
"Yeah," she replied quietly. In reality, she didn't know if she was okay or not. Or whether she had made the right choice. All Arianna knew was that she felt happier at home than she ever did here. But something always kept her coming back.

Ari answered her. She said she was alright, but it was the kind of yeah Lily would use. The kind when she didn't want it pushed. She bit her lip. Question it or go on helping Ari pretend nothing was wrong. "You sure?" She asked quietly.

Arianna sniffed. Her shoulders lifted in a half shrug. She didn't know, really. Everything had been fine just days before and now that she was back at school....part of her didn't want to be here anymore.
Shuffling on her feet, Arianna accidentally kicked Juniper aside. Not hard. More like a push. It didn't keep the cat from mewing, though. Hearing little Juniper cry, Arianna bent over and picked the cat up, holding him close to her chest.

Lily was quiet, trying to think of what to say. She bit her lip again. She tasted blood but she ignored it. "I'm here if-if you need to talk." She shuffled her feet around. For some weird reason she was afraid that maybe Ari was going to yell at her.

Arianna didn't speak for a long moment. Instead, she glanced at the wrapped box still sitting on the window sill, than turned her gaze on the cat. She didn't know what to say.
"I'm okay," she finally replied, more to herself than to Lily. Arianna tried hard to make herself believe it, but it wasn't quite working. Maybe she just needed a bit more time.

Lily was quiet. She leaned on the window sill, looking out. After a while she spoke quietly, unsure of wether she spoke for herself or she spoke for Ari. "You never convince yourself," she said. "No matter how hard you try."

Arianna hated those words. It was a lie. She once been able to convince herself of anything. Heck, she'd even made herself believe some people didn't even exist. Of course, the memories had come back at her full force. So hard she hadn't been able to handle them. Since then, it had become more difficult, but she could do it.
"I'll be okay," Arianna repeated, a bit quieter. She eased herself to the floor, her back leaning against the cold stone wall.

Lily made no move from where she stood looking out the window. It was almost as if Lily and Ari were having two seperate conversations each with themselves. "What does it mean to be okay anyways?" Lily was both aware and unaware that Ari was still there.
((I really hope that makes sense lol))

"I don't know," Arianna admitted quietly. She was quite content to just sit where she was, holding Juniper close to her heart and the cat seemed perfectly fine staying there. He must have known that Arianna needed some sort of comfort, for he didn't try to force his way out of her arms and chase after whatever he could find. ((yeah, kinda ))

"I'm becoming to think it's one of those evil words," Lily said, her fingers running over a bump in the stone ledge. "Like normal. Who's normal anyways?" Now Lily was just sort of lost within herself, thinking silently.

Well, now Arianna was just confused. Not that it she wasn't already confused. So many things had happened in the month before break and during break that Arianna didn't know what was what or, even worse, who were her real friends. As far as she was concerned, Arianna had only Krissy and Che right now. Lily was a friend of course, but not close like the other two were. But even Che caused some trouble for her. He wanted to be more than friends, but Arianna wasn't willing to be that at the moment despite her own feelings for him.
Shaking her head slightly, Arianna stretched her legs out into the middle of the corridor and stared down at the stones in front of her. She tried to think of something, anything, to say, but no words came to mind.

Lily was quiet as well. When Ari hadn't said anything back her brain just totally forgot for a moment that Ari was there. When she remembered she blinked but still said nothing. "It . . . Uh . . . " Lily was trying to say something but she wasn't sure what it was. "It's snowing again?" She offered. Lily hated silence when other people where around.

"Is it?" Arianna asked. Shaking herself from her daze, the girl pushed herself off the floor and turned back to the window. She had to wipe the fog off first to see if any flakes were falling. Even then it was a little hard to see out. Arianna had forgotten to wipe the fresh tears from her eyes.
