Charon was horribly bored. He didn't feel like looking for something to read in the library, but had finished the few books he was reading for fun. He couldn't drum on anything because he had broken his drumsticks and was waiting for his parents to send a new pair. And he was getting tired of sleeping. So he was wandering corridors aimlessly, in hopes of getting lost.
He realized suddenly that his objective had been accomplished. He had no idea where he was. Therefore, he decided to fix this problem the best way he knew: wander some more.

Rael walked down the sixth floor corridor, she wanted to avoid the divination and astronomy professors at all costs, but was bored. She could find nothing to do, other than walk around. She had been to the dungeons, she had been to the library, the common room, everywhere imaginable, and still had found herself to be bored.
She looked up and seen someone walking down the corridor in front of her. She almost called out to him, but then realized it wasn't a fellow Gryffindor like she had thought. It was a Ravenclaw, she had no problems with any of them, so she quietly walked up behind him to see what he was up to.

Charon peered down a corridor leading off the one he was in. It didn't look familiar, but certain parts of the school was always changing. He muttered, "Well, I could go down that way and see if I get un-lost, or I can turn around and go back the other way and see if that helps..." He thought for a moment, then flipped a coin. "Tails. I go back," he said to himself.
When he turned he saw someone standing behind him, too close in his opinion. "Holy crap!" he yelled as he pulled out his wand. He quickly calmed down, however, when he realized it was just another student behind him, and one who didn't seem to wish him any ill will. At least, nothing beyond a mild heart attack from shock. He put his wand away, reflecting that it wouldn't have been aby good since he knew no hexes or curses.
"Pardon me," he said to the girl as he walked past her and started back they way he had come.

Rael had heard the boy muttering, and so had moved closer to hear what he was saying. She seen him pull out a coin and toss it into the air, "Tails. I go back," she heard.
She jumped at his outburst, she had not expected him to have such a reaction. When she seen he had his wand drawn, she merely smirked, amused at the thought of him using it against her.
He started to go back the way she had just come from. "Hello to you, too," she said as he walked past her. "My name's Rael." She fell into step beside him. "Who are you?"

Lost in thought, Charon didn't notice the girl until she spoke. He startled slightly and tried to recall what she had just asked him. "Charon. But I kinda prefer to be called Rone."
He came to another intersection of corridors, and still nothing looked familiar. He sat against the wall and tried to figure out which way he had come from, occasionally using little hand gestures as he talked to himself. As he thought, his face took on an increasingly puzzled expression until he had completely confused itself.
He stood up and turned to Rael. "I've been trying to get myself lost," he told her, "and it seems to have worked a little too well. D'you happen to know which way to go?"

"It's nice to meet you, Rone." She continued to walk beside him down the corridor, until he stopped and sat down against one of the walls. She contemplated leaving him where he was as he muttered and made hand gestures to himself. She thought he looked a little crazy, but her curious nature kept her feet planted where they were. She wanted to know what he was doing, and where he was going, as he looked a little on the lost side.
Suddenly, he stood up and looked at her. What he said made her want to laugh, as she knew enough to know they were on the sixth floor, but other than that, she really had no idea where she was either. And how was she supposed to help someone confessing they were lost, by telling them which way to go?
"I might, if you tell me whether you are trying to lose yourself more, or find where you are." An amused smile was spread across her face as she waited for his reply.

Charon was taken aback by her answer. He had expected a simple yes or no, but this...this was the root of the problem. He chuckled softly before saying, "If I wanted to lose myself worse I don't think I'd be asking for directions. Of course, finding where I am does me no good if I don't know where that is in relation. Which I don't."
He knew his reply wasn't a clear answer either way, but then again, hers hadn't been either. He started to wonder if he had bitten off more than he could chew, both with the wandering and with whom he had to wander with. At this thought he started chuckling a little louder, and his chuckle became a full-blown laugh when yet another thought occurred to him
"Knoing my luck, the only way I'd be able to find my way out of here is by getting more lost. And since I have nothing to do and nowhere to be, I think that's my best bet of getting un-lost," he mused.

She simply stared at him, with the amused smile still attached to her face, while he spoke. What he said was logical, but the way he had asked for directions made her wonder. Her smile faltered when he began laughing, as she was unsure of his reasoning behind it.
When he spoke again, her smile returned, but it was a much more intrigued smile, than amused. She was intrigued with his logic of finding his way, and she let a laugh escape her lips after he had finished.
"I can tell you we're on the sixth floor. I'm not sure if that'll help since you don't know where it is in relation, but I thought it was worth a try." Her eyes were sparkling with amusement, but the smile remained the same.

"Well, at least I know we're not in the dungeons. That's a relief," Charon joked. He started walking again, always watching for a hallway that looked somewhat familiar. As he looked he saw that most of the rooms were empty, and looked like they hadn't been used in years.
"What's on the 6th floor anyways?" he asked. "It has to be the emptiest area of the castle I've seen yet. I've been wandering around here for about 45 minutes and you're the first person I've seen."

"The dungeon's aren't that bad," Rael said as she fell into step beside Charon, again. She noticed his eyes constantly searching around the hall as they walked. "The divination and astronomy professor's offices are on this floor," she simply said in reply to his question. "I'm not normally on this floor if I can help it. I have a strong dislike for both subjects." She smiled as she remembered the encounter she had had with the divination professor not long ago.
"So, is there a special reason you were looking to get lost, or just doing because there was nothing else left to do?" she asked. She looked everywhere but at the boy, she didn't want him to feel she was forcing an answer from the him.

"I was bored senseless and I don't know the school very well. So I figured that if I went and wandered for a while I could kill time as well as learn my way around the castle. After a while, wandering got kinda boring so I decided to see if I could get myself lost and then find my way back. obviously that didn't turn out so well," Charon said. Was that a portrait that he recognized down that hallway? No, just an interesting stain on the wall.
"What about you? If you try to stay out of this floor so much what are you doing here? And why do you strongly dislikes those subjects?" he asked. He glanced quickly in her direction, but looked away just as quickly. He'd never liked it when he got caught staring at a girl, especially when it was the girl that had caught him.

"I'm here because it's the quietest place in the castle at the moment, and I don't really like crowded places very much." She noted his quick glance at her, and his even quicker glance away. "And I dislike divination, because I don't believe anyone could really know what the future holds," she stated. She smiled again at the memory of her encounter with the divination professor earlier. "Astronomy, well, astronomy and I just don't get along. It's a subject that maps out the entire universe, and I can't even understand most simple maps on earth, anyway."
"Actually, I prefer potions, herbology, and care of magical creatures, much less nonsense in my opinion." She studied the boy a moment, then looked back down the corridor. Rael had decided he was either in fifth or sixth, but wasn't sure. "So, what classes do you prefer?"

Charon replied, "I favor Defense Against the Dark Arts. Though I wish we'd go into some of the milder Dark Arts in the class. If we don't actually study the Arts themselves how are supposed to know how to combat them effectively?"
He looked down another hallway only to see more unfamiliarity and continued, "I'm also fairly good at Muggle Studies, but that's because I had to spend a couple years living in the muggle world, not because I like the class. I guess Astronomy would really be the only other class I like. I just think there's a cold beauty to the stars nothing else can compare with. Unfortunately I lived in the city for my time in the muggle world, so I never got to see the starts very clearly."
As they walked and talked Charon's stomach started letting him know that it was close tio supper time. Quite audibly, in fact. "It seems like we're not getting anywhere. Maybe we should just stop and sit here until my stomach starts growling loudly enough that someone hears it and can find us by the sound," he suggested wearily.

She nodded as Charon said Defense Against the Dark Arts, that was a good subject, just not one of her own preferences. "We're only prepared for them, so that if the small chance occurs we do have to combat, we will know what to do. The main hope is we never have to fight a dark wizard," she said in response.
He continued his list, and added, of course, astronomy. It wasn't that she thought it to be a horrible subject, she just didn't see the point of turning something, so simple and beautiful, into a study. It completely ruined the magic it held and she said as much. "The sky is a wonderful thing, both during the day and at night. There is a magic it holds, secrets it keeps locked and hidden, never to be told." She laughed slightly at her words, they sounded as though she were an expert on the never ending tales of the sky.
As they walked further down the corridor, Rael became more and more lost. She nearly jumped when she heard a grumbling sound. She realized it was Charon's stomach, and blushed a little at being able to hear it so clearly. It didn't seem to bother him though, he merely made a joke about it. "That may work, fear" she said with the last traces of Irish accent left to her voice. "However, it may take awhile before anyone comes to our rescue." She walked over to a wall, leaned against it, and slowly slid down to a seated position.

Charon sat across the hall from her and said, "Well, you've been good company so far. I don't think another half hour or so in your presence is likely to kill me. And it's nice to take a rest from the horribly ineffective walking thing."
"And you may be right about the sky. Why else would it have captivated muggles and wizardkind so long if it didn't seem to be hiding something?" he asked. As his stomach growled again he added, "Right now I'd be content with the sky just hiding a couple pumpkin pasties."
