After a nonresponsive patient had come in with mysterious symptoms after shopping in Knockturn Alley, a small team of Healers was sent to the location the sickness had begun to figure out what potion, poison, spell or environmental factor had caused the seizures and purple hives. Kellen was lucky enough to be asked along on this trip, which was an unusual one--ideally it wouldn't take long, and the Healers could get back to their usual duty. Still, he'd never been in Knockturn Alley before and found it a fascinating if unsavory place. To his dismay, he immediately took note of the series of Dark Marks some Eleven had emblazoned on the wall outside the shop.
It didn't take long for Healer Swan to discover the unusual fungus to which their patient was likely having an allergic reaction, but before the group could get back to St. Mungo's to confirm their suspicions, a loud and curse-filled fight broke out among a group of dubious looking wizards and witches nearby. Kellen was not unaware of the purist mentality that was often held by people in the area and so the accusations and "Mudblood" insults didn't suprise him so much as anger and frighten him.
In the ensuing panic, however, he became seperated from the other three Healers as he couldn't fight against the flow of traffic running away from the sight. Protocol dictated he was to apparate back to St. Mungo's, but there had been plenty of stray curses thrown around and Kellen didn't want to risk leaving one of his team behind should one of them have been hit. He tried to make his way back to the scene but was interrupted by someone first.

Knockturn Alley wasn’t one in which his mother was known for traveling, but as she was one of the healers from St. Mungo’s that was asked to go and check out the small epidemic that was found to break out, she had to go. Owling Alfonz to go with her wasn’t something she did often, especially since he was now employed at Hogwarts. It was not easy for the young man to get away, but nonetheless, he managed to ask for passage from a guarding auror. The only catch was that he had to be back before a certain time. No one would miss Alfonz, however.
That was, he hoped they would not. Discussing the affairs of his family was not one he did lightly. Even with Raynor, Alfonz had held his tongue on many occasions. With as much as she knew, there were things she did not know as well, and things that she’d never know.
Why his mother, Elizabeth Jedynak, hadn’t asked his father to accompany her, Alfonz would never know. Maybe he was too busy with working at the Ministry to do so, or maybe Elizabeth had just feared his response or reaction about why she would have to be one of the healers going into such a dreary and dark place. And so there he was…but not entirely.
Arriving at St. Mungo’s late, Alfonz missed the departure of the healers and was asked to wait at the Hospital for their return. Two out of the healers that went returned…Alfonz’s mother, not being one of them.
“Well, where is she?!” he sternly said to the healers and the people that were in charge, all of them backing away slightly as he neared into their personal space. Alfonz was just a fraction of a second away from forcefully showing all of them what he meant with his tone until one squeaked out a story about them all being attacked.
Without saying another word, Alfonz Jedynak left the building and apperated as fast as he could to Knockturn Alley. He knew that his mother should have opted out of going down into the alley, but of course he also knew that her heart was too big for it’s own good. As he apperated into the alley, he did so right into the path of an on comer.
Alfonz growled a bit, not actually meaning to be rude, but at the same time not thrilled with the events that had just taken place. “Pardon…” he said gruffly looking at the man whom he had blocked the way of, remember the last time he had not excused himself. Brady had made a scene of him that day, and in Knockturn, Alfonz couldn’t figure any scene would be good of any kind. “There was a scene downhere…know anything about it?” he rushed as he asked the man, not really knowing if the guy would know anything about the events.
Alfonz had to find his mother, before some scum did. And most of all, he had to be not seen in the alley. If anything got back to Raynor, Alfonz didn’t know whether or not he’d be able to save his ass from being canned this time.

Kellen didn't really have time for idle questions, but the man seemed in earnest and didn't look as sketchy as many of the others he'd been passing in the last few minutes.
Still, his senses were on edge and he was automatically suspicious of anyone he was coming across in Knockturn Alley. "Not much, unfortunately. There was a group, five or six people, who just started yelling and cursing each other," he said distractedly, unwilling to offer much more as he kept trying to push ahead. "Look, I don't mean to be brisk but I've got to get back and make sure no one's hurt," he added, briefly showing the man the St. Mungo's logo stitched into his robes. He wasn't trying to show off or seem important; it just seemed like the right thing to do at the moment.

At least now Alfonz knew there was something about his mother that was lucky. Running into someone whom actually was apart of the hospital…definitely wasn’t because of his luck. However, his demeanor nor his sterness faded any. Just because the guy was from the hospital, didn’t mean he’d actually help him find his mother. It just meant that he was another employee.
“You won’t find all of them in tact…” Alfonz said starting to walk away from the man, not really seeing a need for the talking either. He too was in a rush. Not only because he had to get back to Hogwarts but because his mother was in the alley somewhere and there was obviously something wrong. Otherwise, why would she not have come back? Alfonz tried to convince himself that she was stuck trying to save someone’s life…that would figure.
“I was just at St. Mungo’s. Not all of the healers returned.”

You won't find all of them in tact... the man said. His words startled and concerned Kellen; they'd sounded almost like a threat or at the very least quite ominous. He stopped cold and turned to the man and tried to keep his voice even--and just in case, readied his wand. His suspicious, almost paranoid side wasn't comforted by this new news. He didn't bother to ask what the man had just been doing at St. Mungo's. "What's that supposed to mean, not all of us in tact? There were four of us sent. How many were back?"

"Two..." Alfonz turned sharply around as he could already start to feel the tension begin to rise between the two of them. There was no need for such folly actions, and yet there must have been something about him that put others on their guard. Good....they should be. But at that moment, Alfonz really didn't see that there was time for any of that crap. He tried to breath to calm himself. If there was any other woman in the world than Alfonz cared more about than Celina, it was probably the Jedynak's mother, and this man was temporarily cramping his style of finding her to protect her.
However, Alfonz also knew that if his mother was just fine and he did cause more of a scene with this man than the one that was already seemingly forming, his mother wouldn't be pleased at all. Damn her and her 'nice-to-everyone' ways. What was that any way? There were some people who mattered, and others who did not. Alfonz tried to calm himself. If the man was from Mungo's than he knew the team he was sent out with.
"Jedynak...that's the one that didn't return. Elizabeth Jedynak," Alfonz kept his temper just as short as his words and yet, a little voice in the back of Alfonz's mind was blaming himself. He had been late and therefore, had not been able to accompany the expedition with his mother. Not that he had wanted to, but still, he had had an obligation by agreeing to go. Alfonz almost wondered if she told any of her team that he was to be joining them. She probably had, but Alfonz didn't know. He had to find her...
"And it's not supposed to mean anything..." Alfonz said. "...for if it did, I wouldn't have wasted any breath saying it out loud."

As Kellen looked at the man, there seemed something familiar about him. Well, not familiar so much as...he couldn't quite put his finger on it, but perhaps it was some kind of similarity...or perhaps he'd seen the man's picture in a paper somewhere. The familiarity seemed especially strong when he mentioned Healer Jedynak, though Kellen didn't want to make assumptions.
Still, he began to let his guard down. The man didn't seem a direct threat. "Fine. Well, if she's anywhere, she'll be just around this corner here. That's where the fight started." He got through the last of the clearing crowd and broke into a sprint. earnestly hoped they wouldn't find her in bad shape or worse--perhaps she, like himself, had just stayed behind to make sure the others got out all right. Or perhaps she was helping another new patient: he didn't know Healer Jedynak well, but from what he did know it seemed like something she would stay behind to do.

Alfonz followed the sprinting man, hoping that they wouldn't find his mother in shambles. If she was, Merlin knew that that wouldn't be the only situation she'd have to face that night that would maybe threaten her life. Alfonz gulped hard, and was glad that there would be no one to see or hear it. His worry danced in his dark orbs as he already started to plan in his head what he'd have to tell Celina.
Celina wouldn't do well at all if something happened to their mother. Especially, if she heard that Alfonz was supposed to be there to help. Elizabeth had to be alright...she just had to be.
As he finally rounded the corner, not anything was seen of his mother and he stopped his running. Looking around, he inhaled and exhaled through his noes, concentrating on the environment around him. Starring members of whatever garbage bin they had crawled out from were everywhere, but no one that Alfonz could clearly recognize as his mother. "Hmm..." he mutter to himself as he started to walk a bit further, looking in every crevice he could. "Was it a set up of sorts? Or just a misunderstanding?" Alfonz asked, almost wondering why the healers would be attacked, or if it was really just as random as the young man, and the healers back at St. Mungo's had made it out to be.

Seriously, how difficult could it be to find Healer Jedynak? All the Healers at St. Mungo's wore bright green robes--even with the coat she'd worn, the green should've been easy enough to spot, right? Kellen recognized one of the wizards from the fight--he hadn't been able to make out many of them before he was seperated, but this face he remembered. Unfortunately for the wizard, it belonged to a man who, while Kellen was sure he wasn't dead, didn't look to be in very good shape, either.
He was not yet trained for this. Emergency response was usually left to more experienced Healers, and certainly not for trainees in the field. He was breaking protocol by even still being there, but he wasn't about to leave now. He wasn't even supposed to be there, really; Healer Swan had insisted on a team of four not because they needed the healers but because there was "safety in numbers". That hadn't turned out so well for them, had it. Kellen had merely been walking by when they decided the new bloke would get some good experience out of the situation.
"I don't honestly know what caused it," Kellen answered the man, almost as an afterthought. "We were about ready to go back to St. Mungo's when suddenly we heard a bunch of shouting and hexing. The crowd panicked and when I tried to see what was going on I got pushed around with the running group and sepera--hey!" he interrupted himself when he noticed a familiar figure. "Healer Jedynak!"

Alfonz listened intently to the guy’s story about what had happened. Nothing out of the ordinary. The green robes probably stirred up the commotion, most of the people down in Knockturn coming down to the alley to escape from the regular inhabitants of Diagon and the rest of the wizarding world. He sighed, again looking around and not seeing anyone. If their robes were so damn noticeable, where was his mother.
It was then that he noticed a robe laying on the ground. The mud mixed it up a bit, along with big portions of it missing but it couldn’t be….no….Alfonz wouldn’t think of it. Quickly, he made his way toward the robes and knelt down on one knee. The embroidery was what he wasn’t hoping it would be.
The logo, along with his mother’s name, were stitched into the breast of it. For some reason, she liked it that way. Elizabeth would tell her family that with her name stitched into it, no one would ever forget her name.
Healer Jedynak!
Alfonz’s head snapped up and saw what the other fellow saw. What he saw, Alfonz cringed and hoped that it wasn’t truly his mother. Unfortunately, however, even her luck could only be stung along so far. “It’s her…” he said, starting to walk toward the woman he believed to be his mother.
Unknowing of whom she was, the woman was looking up the side of a brick wall looking at the sky. It was pretty, but she really did wish she knew where she was. Yelling was heard behind her, but she tuned it out, not knowing whom the yelling’s were calling for. It couldn’t have been for her, for if they were, wouldn’t she know it? The brunette sighed, a smile lingering on her face. She wasn’t afraid; not yet she wasn’t afraid anyways, not until something touched her shoulder.
Alfonz by that time had walked up to the woman. “Mother?” he lightly said reaching for her shoulder. The woman screamed and flared her arms, backing into the wall. “Er….go away…I’m not doing anything to you!” she yelled at Alfonz and he backed up. “Sonofa…” he cursed to himself as he bent over to where the woman’s face was.
Her head was scratched up a bit, and whatever she was hit with didn’t look too bad, but at the same time, losing one’s memory wasn’t that great either. Though, if that was the worst thing that had happened, Alfonz was internally grateful. There were ways to help that…Alfonz could only hope the hex was a temporary one.

Kellen was several steps behind the older man, but caught up with him soon enough to hear him say "Mother?" He wasn't surprised by the revelation, and it did make the entire situation make more sense--why else would he have come straight there from St. Mungo's?
Unfortunately, she didn't seem to recognize him--or anyone else, for that matter. She had a rather dazed look in her eyes, and Kellen quickly assessed the scratches and any other injury he could see. She didn't seem to be in bad shape, considering.
He dodged any flailing arms as he tried to get her attention. He pushed in beside the older man and put on his best bedside manner impression. "Healer Jedynak," he said steadily, before he realized it wouldn't get a response from her. "Ma'am. Listen to me, Ma'am. I'm a Healer from St. Mungo's. You've just been hurt in this fight," he said, keeping a calmer voice than what he felt inside. "I think you'll be all right, but I want you to go to the hospital to get checked out. This man is going to apparate you there, all right?" He shot a significant look to the man, whose name he could only assume was also Jedynak. "And you and he are going to tell some other healers there to send back help. Tell them Healer McCrea needs help getting other injured people back to St. Mungo's, too. All right?"

As the healer pushed his way nearer to Elizabeth Jedynak, Alfonz did his best to allow him access. It wasn’t as if he had really any other choice in the matter. He wasn’t the healer, this man was, and that was that. However, it didn’t seem as if his mother was about to comply just that easily as he did.
“Fight? I assure you…please go away!….I just fell asleep and I’m walking home. No, I’m not going to go anywhere with any man…” Elizabeth looked up at Alfonz and shook her head. This guy was a bit over her head and husky and looked as if he could take her out with one foul punch. Nope, she was definitely not going any where with him. She tried her best to push the…did he say healer?…away from her to move out from the place she had positioned herself between the men and the brick wall.
As the healer turned his head, Elizabeth tried to make a run for it. Alfonz stepped in her way slightly, and held her close as she ran into him. “Ah! Let go!” she yelled as Alfonz tried to listen to the man’s instructions about who needed what help and where. “Hold on…” he told McCrea.
Bending over, his hands placed firmly on the woman’s arms he looked into his mother’s eyes and shook his head. “Ma’am….I’ll let you go if you can tell me who you are.” She thought about it and shook her head. “Well,” she said a bit taken aback. “isn’t it obvious?!” Another pause passed as she looked back at the other man and this one that held her.
“I’m the Queen of England.”

Once again, Kellen was left running to catch up; his first concern was getting Healer Jedynak back to safety, and then he would worry about any other injuries there seemed to be on the scene. Luckily, friends of the injuried already seemed to be apparating them away--hopefully to the hospital, but he couldn't be sure of that. He breathed a further sigh of relief when more green robes began to apparate in out of seemingly nowhere; his focus could be entirely with Healer Jedynak, er, the Queen now.
"Of course, your highness. You're looking quite good for your age, Liz," he added under his breath. In a way, they were lucky--if someone had been shooting off confusion spells that set in delusions of grandeur, better Healer Jedynak get hit with it than someone of more questionable character. Otherwise, they might have another You-Know-Who on their hands.
"Madam, as your personal physician I must suggest we go on to the hospital now. There are important matters of state that need attending to there, and they require your immediate attention."
"MCCREA!" came a scolding voice from behind, and Kellen momentarily cringed before turning around to face Healer Gaunt, his immediate supervisor. He'd broken protocol, and that wouldn't go so well for him. Still, he had to remain in the moment.
"Mister Prime Minister!" Kellen greeted, hoping Gaunt would pick up on the situation. "You've arrived just in time. Her majesty was just leaving to attend to important state matters at the hospital. You know, that budget passing thing that's happening this afternoon?"

Alfonz let go of his mother as confusion only furrowed his brow and frustration crossed his face. This was ridiculous, but at the same time, it seemed as if McCrea was deciding to play along. Alfonz kept quiet and bowed as respectfully as he could toward the 'queen'. "I'm sorry, your Majesty." Nodding, Elizabeth, the Queen of England, turned just in time to see the other man catch up to where her and this peasant had stopped her. "You'd best know better to touch someone of such high status, young man," she said to Alfonz, and in doing so he gritted his teeth a bit. His mother was obviously delusional.
"As for you..." she started, turning to talk to the healer whom wouldn't let her be. "...flattery will get you no where, and I said I..."
Madam, as your personal physician I must suggest we go on to the hospital now. There are important matters of state that need attending to there, and they require you immediate attention.
"What matters? What does this young man....personal physician you say?" He did look familiar to the Queen, and as she looked him over, she scratched her chin. Indeed, there was something about him that looked very familiar, unfortunately, she couldn't place her finger exactly on it. However, the logo on his robes would signify medical of some sort so maybe he was. Though, as she was thinking, more people started to pop up and one of them yelled out a name that too, sounded familiar. "McCrea?" she echoed looking back toward Alfonz. "So, then...who are you?"
There was no time for Alfonz to answer before Healer Gaunt was storming his way up to where the three of them were standing. Alfonz nodded his head respectfully toward the man he recognized just a bit from the hospital and then looked back at his mother a bit more worried than he would have liked. "Prime Minister?" Another echo from the Queen as she looked back toward Alfonz, suspiciously raising an eyebrow, and then toward the Prime Minister himself. He too, looked familiar. And then her healer said she was leaving and the Queen crossed her arms, she had agreed to no such thing.
"I was not." Her head and nose now stuck up in the air, more snobbish than Alfonz had ever known anyone to look, especially his mother. He couldn't help but snicker and shake his head. "But...your majesty...As your Advisor, I think it's neccessary. Many children would suffer without your help at the hospital for this budget passing," Alfonz tried to play along, but was never really good at acting. Queen Elizabeth looked back at him, however, and saw the act as genuine. "Children? Advisor?" she was confused and turned back to McCrea.
"I demand to know what in Merlin's beard is going on!" she said, covering her mouth at her own surprising rage. "Or...rather I mean, please someone....inform me of what is happening here...." she paused. "...please..."

Kellen took a deep breath. This wasn't quite going the way he planned. Luckily for him, Gaunt stepped in and took over for the moment; he hadn't been sure the typically serious man was even going to play along.
"Your majesty," he began, sounding as statesman-like as possible, "There has been some kind of altercation in the area. Medical and law-enforcement personel are on the scene and we no longer believe this area is safe for you to be in. Come along with me and we'll move on to a more secure location where we can talk more seriously about these, eh, budgetary and statesly concerns."
The man pulled off what Kellen could not--a true sense of authority, not to mention a better cover story. He hoped she'd listen to him and allow him to apparate her back to the hospital.
