Late arrivals were better than none, plus, all those missing were veterans of the year prior, they really didn't miss much. "Have Hiro fill you in, though you really didn't miss much at all," Corey replied to Drew before aknowledging Keagan's question rightfully. "Just because the aurors are there, doesn't mean the school is impregnable, hell that was proven last term alone. We can't be solo heros docking points and telling off, there's safety in numbers but we all can't obviously patrol the same floor at the same time and be effective. Hence, pairs. We'll worry about who's patroling with whom once we get to the school and everyone get's their respective houses squared away and in a semi less chaotic state."
This Head Boy thing really wasn't as hard as he'd first thought it seemed, though, if he remembered right, Kellen hadn't said much anyway, but this really wasn't hard. In fact, it was kinda enjoyable, in a self-esteem boosting kinda way. Of course, then again, there was an entire year yet to go through, which probably meant Hell and hand grenades was mere days away. Oh well. It was his final year, it was expected to go with a bang.

Drew sat up at the mention of the security measures, having a fair idea what Corey meant by "last term." The fact that Deva hadn't needed to sneak onto castle grounds, but had basically walked in without being questioned said a lot about the "protective measures" that had been set up. There would be very little time for goofing off now a days.

"But that's kind of my point," Keagan spoke up again, a part of her wondering where she got the nerve. "Shouldn't we be wondering why the school doesn't seem safer when we have all of those ministry officials all over the place?"
True, the suspicious attacks made the whole world less safe, but Hogwarts had always had a reputation as the safest place, or one of them. If the security there had been increased, Keagan thought it only made sense that it would become safer, at least in relation to the higher level of danger. Her logic might still be off, though, as she certainly wasn't known for being the smartest girl in school.

He closed his eyes and thought of something then it went away. He got up from his seat. Started to stretch. He then sighed and listened to the conservation and sat back down. Overhearing something about the rumors of Aurors still flying around. He sighed again. Why the bloody hell were they still hear? Was it about that new professor or something he heard his uncle talking about during their trip.
He forgot what exactly was wrong with this new professor. Probably the new Charms or Astronomy teacher. Tristan didn't know. But all his focusing was on this Auror talking.

"We can wonder all we want why they're still here, why the school isn't as safe as all of us would like it to be, like we believed it to be, but that doesn't change the fact that it isn't. And we can't make the school safer ourselves, but we can at least do everything in our own power to keep ourselves...safe." Corey wasn't even sure if that made sense, the thought had sounded right in his head, but now it seemed confusing. It wasn't their job to make the school safe, it was their job to make sure the students were as safe as within their capabilities.
And sadly, those capabilities weren't much at all. While the point Keagan was making was highly valid, it just didn't seem to him there was much they could find out, they were, for the most part just kids after all.

"Ourselves meaning our respective houses..." Drew clarified lest any one in the compartment forgot their duties to their positions. He hadn't done a very good job keeping himself safe at the end of the previous year, but he had been caught off guard. He wouldn't make that mistake again.
"A lot of the new kids, especially the Muggle borns, might not know what they're getting into," he said, speaking more seriously than he probably ever had before. "And we have more than a few kids in our houses who are stupid enough to think they can take on the Deva. They can't. Those are the kids we really need to be watching out for. they're the ones who are in the most danger right now." With that, he fell quiet, feeling like he had said more than enough.

Keag had half a mind to grab Tristan and force him to sit and listen, but thought better of it when her temper was quickly calmed by the proceeding discussion.
Though Keagan had much more she would like to say - something she thought very uncharacteristic of herself - she decided it would be best to keep her mouth shut about the aurors for the time being. Perhaps she would get a chance to talk about it further with Corey later, just because she knew he would understand where she was coming from, at least. At the moment, though, it seemed pressing the matter would simply be wasting the time of most of the other student officials present.
She did have other suggestions, though. "Aside from the big events," she began, trying to skirt the elephant in the corner, what everybody knew about but wouldn't talk about, "There were a lot of things that happened that pushed the boundaries last year quite a bit, as well. I think we should watch out for those things better this term. Or maybe just keep tabs on everybody better, because there really are too many people out and about when and where they shouldn't be."

It was hard for Hiro to just sit and listen to the meeting about all the safety precautions. The 'event' that everyone was talking about was the kidnapping of his best friend. Hiro could only imagine the horrors that he had to suffer through. The fact that everyone was talking about it like it didn't happen to someone in the very compartment.

"Well thats what were saying" Krissy said in response to Keagan, Corey had known what to say so she had been letting him do the talking for a little bit because she hadn't known exactely what to say. "We can't really rely upon the auror's making things all that much safer so we need to take extra precautions ourselves to keep everyone in line and all of us and them safe" Krissy ignored Tristan and his yawning, afterall she used to be a bit like that.
"We need to keep everyone where they should be, as well as we possibly can. And just try to make sure overall that were all safer" Krissy looked at Corey to check wether he wanted to add anything else. She herself was now stumped for what to say once more.

Corey had only been half listening since Drew's follow-up remark. He hadn't been leaning toward the Deva front, although he doubted a front page article ont he Prophet could be wrong, he really just didn't want to force that fear upon people. Fear was a powerful card, and it seemed the only people that realized it were those who utilized it to their advantage.
"-- ... ...Aye we can't bank on the aurors being everywhere..basically once term starts, be alittle more watchful of everything. And, one point I'd like to make perfectly clear, and I'll probably make it clear again: we can't hold biases against our friends, if anyone is out when they shouldn't be, yeah, first time give em a warning, beyond that, they should know the rules by now. Now more than ever, we just can't let anything slide. I hate to directly bring it up, but, the Prophet's proved to us that the line between friend and foe has been erased in places." It hurt to be said, for some, more than others but, perhaps this was an issue that needed to be confronted now, lest a mutiny or wild goose chase occur later. It was habit, to let one's friends off even slightly on the rule breaking. Hell, they were all guilty of it, but it just couldn't be overlooked anymore, anyone out after they shouldn't was, in the times,a possible threat.
"That also means, when your round times are over...don't dawdle in getting back to your common rooms. Just get there. Anything else?"
