The Head of the Department of Magical Education stormed off the lift when it reached the second floor, her robes bellowing about her ankles, face livid to the point that her chocolate complexion was brick red. She had just found out. With all of her resources, and she had just found out. Oh, he was going to have a piece of her mind. Newly appointed to a Head position and he immediately thought he could do whatever he wanted! Oh no, Malanda was going to see to this!
The woman stormed down the halls, most that found themselves in her way jumping to rectify the situation, others inclined themselves to do the same after a rather harsh beating from her tongue to do so. After they were successfully out of her way, the woman discarded them from her list of priorities.
At last, she came to the meeting of the Auror Headquarters and the Department Head's offices. There she stomped to a stop, a single piece of paper clutched in her left hand, now wrinkled beyond recognition in her clenched fist.
"Thorne! Get out here right now! I have a bone to pick with you."

Cody had just sat down to a desk full to the gills with forms. That must have been what killed off his predecesor. Paperwork. For being the most active department in the Ministry of Magic, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement surely had to be the one with the most paper work. In a way, Cody wished that he could still be out in the world living the life of an Auror. He lived for the hunt. But his bones would not take it.
He had started to try to sort through the papers when he heard his name being yelled by the all-to-familier voice of Malanda Walmasey, the Head of the Department of Education and member of the Wizengamot, much to his dismay, on the latter. She would have some ripple in her panty-hose and need him to solve it. She always did.
He quietly got up from his desk and moved towards the door. He quietly checked the pocket of his robes to make sure that his wand was present; it was. He then opened the door to the office and looked out to see Walmasy fuming with his few interns peeking out behind their cubicles at the angered woman. "Ah, Miranda! It's nice to see you. Please, won't you come in?" He smiled and motioned for her to enter the office.

Twitch. Twitch. There it was again. Miranda. Mer-and-a.... Ma-lan-da... Miranda... Malanda. The man could not get the completely different pronunciation right. No, that was impossible. He was an extraordinarily old git, but he was not a daft one, the woman would give him that much credit. He did that just to boil her blood, and it worked. "Oh ho! Your office, eh? For you can quite conveniently remove any hope for witnesses when you dispose of me, Thorne? Malanda Walmsley is not so easily rid of, so not likely," she replied, stressing her first name. A red hot glare sparked in the direction of the curious interns. They at least shrank away when those blazing eyes landed on them. Though Malanda had a suspicion they were still peaking when she was not looking. She wouldn't bother. She liked to make a scene. The fist around the paper jerked up. She waggled it under the mans nose. "What is the meaning of this? I found this on my desk this morning. It has your despicable scent all over it." [[ Ah! Point noted. ]]

Cody smiled as the woman started on some ramble about removing witnesses when he did her in or some sort of foolish action. As if. He was the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. He was not likely to kill her in the open. For that matter, he was not likely to kill her at all. "As you wish." The old Auror simply said and nodded his head to the woman.
He then turned to enter back into his office. When she mentioned the notice on her desk, he stopped and turned about. His nose started to mock sniff. "I wouldn't say it's that despicable, really. Perhaps a little stinky, but nothing bad. Yes it is mine."
He winked and looked back to the younger woman. "Glad that's all cleared up, Miranda. If you need anything else, I'll be in my office." He could play like that too. Perhaps he was mistaken, but he could have sworn that he saw a few of the interns and other Aurors snickering as the peeked from behind their cubicles. With one final nod to the woman, he entered his office and closed the door. He knew she would follow.
