"THORNBRUSH!" The voice echoed as the door to the Minister's secretarial office seemed to come apart at the hinges with an ear-splitting CRACK. It was unbelievable, simply and purely unbelievable that now, of all times NOW the Minister would not only bypass his authority but put political hogwash over the safety of his country. But it wasn't just the country's safety he'd violated he'd violated the safety of it's people, his people and the children of those people who seemed to constantly be swooped up in the melee of it all.
"Sir you can't just go in--sir, sir! ... Sir!" The secretary tried to stop him but he would hear nothing of it. At this point Corrion wouldn't care if the man was standing on his desk in his birthday suit waving his arms like a bloody chicken. It just didn't matter, he'd been undermined and effectively robbed of what was probably the best asset he had on his force. He needed veterans not trainees, experience and not cockiness. He needed, well right now he needed anger management.
"How dare you go around me you narcissistic fool!" The auror raged his palms slammed down onto the mahogany sheened desk "Your country's in turmoil and you give more a damn about a pure-blood boy's bloody nose than you do the safety of your people!? I can't fight Shaw because of regulation, I can't find him because I lack experience and manpower and you go and take what little bit of both I have from me..." A long pause ensued as the man removed his hands and turned.
"And for what? For politics? For your bloody tea parties and money? People follow leaders not butchers. And to be plainly honest sir I'm not sure which one you are." Oh Corrion was seething, his eyes almost aflame, heart racing. If he'd been twenty year's older he'd be running the risk of a stroke, but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered anymore apparently. If the man entrusted with the safety of the English wizarding community didn't give a damn why should he? after all, the Minister was the example, the voice for all of them regardless of the Department's action. His rule was law and decisions final.
Corrion knew the man wouldn't recant his decision, but Merlin blowing his door away and justifiably screaming at him in his own quarters sure made him feel better.

The Minister of Magic, had been sitting in his office drinking his tea when he heard commotion break out in the outer sanctions of his office. Great drama was not something the Minister wished to deal with at the current time. All drama ever brought was turmoil, and he didn't enjoy turmoil to the least.
As Corrion burst into his office he sighed. Yes he knew the man quite well, and he knew he wasn't recieving the best of the best, but they were needed in London. There was a time when Hogsmeade didn't even have an office. He continued sipping his tea as the bald headed man in front of him went off. He slammed his palms into the Ministers desks, called him names, really nothing the Minister enjoyed too much. He really had no reason to varify his means to Corrion, but he would give the man that much solice.
"Well Mr. Corrion, for one I would suggest that you watch your tone with me, I am not one of your aurors, I am the Minister of Magic. And as for that little display you are making me feel more and more like I should be taking aurors out of Hogsmeade and sticking them at my door for protection." He put down his glass looking at the man with a keen eye. "Now I will have you know I am not going to be pushed around by you. But let me ask you this, if I were to go today and start attacking random civilians on the street, would you want me removed from this office? Especially if I am here to protect and serve the people?"

The best of the best needed in London? Needed in London for what, to have their jobs disposed of for accusations that weren't even properly investigated? Well that certainly seemed fair. "Sir. Quite frankly I don't care who you are. One of my men was accused. I have a right given to me by regulation that allows me to have the matter investigated prior to action being taken. You not only over rode my authority sir but you over rode the regulations that you force us to abide, the same regulations that keep Shaw and his posse of interlopers on the streets. Pure-blood or not, the incident should have been handled by the proper protocols." A pause. "We could learn a thing or two from muggle sir, the at least know to treat their celebrities with no special circumstances."
If it was him, if it was him oh he knew it was a Catch-22 question but he quite frankly didn't care. To agree would contradict his position, to refuse would land him in worse standings. He chose the latter, after all, he'd already probably broken a door and earned himself a three day regulation grade suspension. It couldn't get much worse because like it or not Thornbrush couldn't ditch him. Well, he could, but then he'd be left with nothing more than children looking for a man who could kill each one oft hem if they were all in a room and not get caught. "If it were you, sir, you would be ruining your own image and no one else's You hold no department or brotherhood, you have your desk, this office and that is all. And quite frankly sir I believe the public would better respect an investigation over an immediate dismissal. Did you even bother to take Brady's account?! Or did you only listen to this--what did your report say...anonmyous informant?" The auror was positively outraged by the man's impudence. He wouldn't remove the aurors from Hogwart,s to do so would spell disaster, not to mention call for his removal from office by the public--not that apparently it would be much a loss.
"Are you satisfied with yourself?" Corrion questioned, pausing long enough to note the man's disinterest. He seemed, quite bored, did he think he was here for show? That he'd lost some godforsaken bet at the Station? The man was unbelievable, simply unbelievable. "Can you live with he fact that you might well have sacked an innocent man, a man who's dedicated years to defending his countrymen and their children while a menace still lives among our quaint little society? Pure-bloods may hold wealth, and they may hold lands, but that is all they hold. If you wish to corrupt yourself be my guest but do NOT take the people done with you. What if Shaw goes beyond his boundaries? What if he kills? What then? Then will you fear, then will you realize how critical these times are?"

"Mr. Corrion, I will warn you one more time. If you don't watch your tone with me, I will hand you a well deserved suspension. Following that suspension, we will see how your place at Hogsmeade stands," he coughed a raspy cough as he watched the man, eyes narrowing. "I overrode regulations, because I had to. You know as well as I do, if the people are mad at the Ministry, the Ministry is in jeopardy. I don't know how you feel about anarchy, but I surely do not support it." He stood up weakly, the old man begining to look like a bright red tomato as he got mad.
The man weakly waved his cane at Corrion from across the desk (not aiming to hit or anything, if you get what I'm trying to describe), as he glared angrily at him. "I am going to tell you now, and you are going to listen. It was one imformant who came to speak with me personally because he was outraged, that is not to mention, the numerous howlers, and angry owls I recieved. I don't know if you've heard, but he was not innocent in any likely hood. He attacked a boy on the street, not because he had done something wrong, but because he wouldn't show him more respect. If I was to let him go, it would say 'Hey someone bumps into you on the street, go ahead and hex them,' and personally thats not a slogan I want the Ministry to fly." He sat down again roughly, scratching his beard, just waiting for Corrions tongue to fly. He would have to be an idiot to question him anymore.
If Corrion really believed this had to do with just purebloods he was out of his mind. Yes Shaw was dangerous, yes he was taking away from his force, but it was more than that. The man had to be having stress related problems. "Even if I had kept Brady, I would have had to taken him off the streets, he wasn't safe. Maybe it was stress from work, or home, maybe he's just losing it, whatever it was led him to do wrong. So go ahead and keep it coming Mr. Corrion, because I would hate to lose another top auror, but I will do what I have to do."

"Tone be damned and you can take your suspension and anarchy with it!" the auror shot back, eyes ablaze with contempt. "You didn't have to over ride regulation, you chose to be pressured to. And as to anarchy, no sir I don't support it, but I don't see you doing a bloody thing to stop it's ushering either. The longer Shaw and his compatriots sit at large, the closer anarchy is to reality. The sooner we get him off our streets, whatever the means, the Ministry will become the public defender as opposed to the public sucker-punched. If you want that image, if you want the public to trust the Ministry again, I need the means to provide it." Corrion debated. The man may be old and feeble, but this was no crossing of fists, this was a crossing of words.
"Even if you'd kept Brady...you bloody fool. An aurors work is not merely being a scene-walker and a beat cop. Brady has an analytical mind, he can do just as much behind a damn desk as five of those puppies I have to call aurors could do in a week. Shaw is a strategic genius, I can't see his moves, and I can't block them. But the more manpower I have the more pressure I can induce and he will mess up because of that." A pause. "If you can't give me Brady as a badge give him to me as something a civilian observer, an attache, surely you have the power to at the least grant me that?"
Yes, Corrion was desperate to keep his ranks, and even more so he already knew the answer to his pleas. As long as he knew the Minister could hear his words, the soliloquy did not fall upon deafened ears. The public was afraid to talk, and Shaw was an elusive bigot, he'd successfully fought for one square of ground and then been forced back to zero. Some bloody jump-off. This war wasn't just with Shaw, just as there were two faces to that man,t here were two faces to his cause. And Corrion was certain, though proof would be impossible to obtain, that one face or another had already been within these chambers.

His face was completely red as he looked at Corrion, he did want to play games. And the more he sat here the more he felt like he disposed the wrong auror. He needed a way to get him out of his office. There had to be something he could possibly do. Standing again, he moved to the door. He was feeling more and more like he couldn't sit still. Opening it he called out, "Evaline, I need to be in contact with the auror departments in all the other major countries. Right now it seems if Mr. Corrion does not leave my office, we will be in need of a new auror to run the Hogsmeade department." He knew what he would do, let Corrion know he would not be acknowledging him anymore. "Corrion, leave now, or your fired, and I will find a replacement."
He looked around the room, looking at the slightly shabbiness of the room. "Just know Corrion, that if you really think I purposly throw away the few securities this country has then you are idiotic. I have put more money into your department than any other by far. I promise you there are many others that could be using that department." He walked back to his desk sitting down for the final time. He would have the man removed if he didn't leave on his own. And if that was the case, the mans career was done. "I was in fact about to throw more money into the auror in training program, that way they are better trained, but right now I am thinking it would go to better use in the department of Ministry."
"So I suggest you take the smart pass, and leave this office now in peace, before I have you removed."

Idiotic? Oh no he wasn't idiotic, in fact he was the most rational he'd felt in over forty-eight hours while sober. Every coup had political backing, and considering what Shaw was fighting for there was no doubt what sector of lifestyle his political backing had came from. The question wasn't of where, but rather who, he couldn't rightly just arrest random pure-bloods and charge them with conspiracy and treason. Nor, could he arrest the Minister of Magic it would only land him a worse fate than Brady had received. He was damned to a life of servitude to a government corrupted. A true Englishman at heart where country came over conviction--no matter how poorly it was run.
"I'll leave you Minister. But only because lives depend on my job, they don't depend on yours. And as to your precious funding, money doesn't buy lives sir." The auror replied coldly before walking out the same blown apart doorway he'd entered. He paused long enough at the secretary's desk to have her tell the 'elderly git behind him' to dock the door from his paycheck--after he left. It was obvious his superiors were no help, and it was also clear he'd have a hard time now getting any more manpower through the normal channels. Perhaps he could wrangle up some foreign assistance through the Department of International Magical Cooperation--he'd been waiting on Shaw's Norwegian record for some time now anyway even though it was no doubt perfectly spotless. It was doubtful and most likely bleak there too, but he had to at least try. Shaw was bigger than him, a bully of the mind and he was quite tired of being pummeled at the man's impolite choosings.
