There were not many places Megara Candlebright felt truly out of her element, but the Ministry of Magic was definitely one of those few. She'd never been there before, even during the legal proceedings with both her initial disappearance from Hogwarts, nor the adoption process with her uncle. She was not particularly awed by the atrium itself, but by what the building and its population represented. She'd spent the last two years avoiding the Ministry and its personnel; now she was coming there willingly.
Meg had been of age for over a year, but had never gone in for her Apparation exam. She was oddly nervous about it; though she'd received some training from her co-workers and friends, she'd never been fully taught the whole process. Still, the ability to apparate was essential, especially with her new responsibilities and associations.
Unfortunately, there seemed to be some kind of delay with the testing, and she'd have to wait another half hour before she'd be allowed to take the test. It seemed pointless to leave just to return not long after, especially since the check-in procedures at the Ministry seemed to take quite a while. So she was back up in the Atrium area, looking around while doing her best to remain inconspicuous.

It took another day to realize that Jules from Transportation wasn't going to send in that damn report. It seemed likely; the miserable man was in line with those who hated to deal with Mars, who, for the lack of a better word, was disagreeable in most cases. Yet it was not a problem for the Auror, for he never liked the paper-pushers anyhow, seeing as they still found time to be pretentious among their schedules of not kicking butts but surely taking names.
Mars had to get a running start before Jules decided to do something stupid like take an early lunch break. He had to give him a piece of his mind for slowing down his own boring paperwork, and yet while had rushed about, he still had no idea what to say. He figured he'd find some words along the way, but even by the Atrium he couldn't find the right words.
On his way to get to the elevators, he was ready to bully the crowds out of his way to get his place in the elevators. That barely worked seeing as the broad from Gaming had called his attention. "Hello, Memphis," She called him out and gave him a wink. At that he slowed down and waved to her, completing the tale that men could not multi task, for as he waved at the woman, he had bumped into another rather roughly, and so he had to stop.
"Bah, blime-- Merlin, you alright there, darling?" He felt compelled now to stop and see the elevator fill to maximum capacity.

Meg's body immediately stiffened as someone bumped into her from behind. She'd been caught. Someone recognized her--but recognized her from where? What if it were an Auror? But what if it were? She hadn't really done anything yet; not really. And if it were an Auror, he'd hardly care about her truancy problems. Besides, she was of-age now.
Without thinking, she raised her wand and turned around quickly--only to replace it just as quickly as the man who'd bumped into her began apologizing. So it had just been an honest mistake, then. She regained her composure, but decided to play the innocent waif card a bit in case the man was thrown off by her wand. "Merlin, you gave me a fright. I'm fine, though, really. Are you?"
