Arianna wasn't quite sure how to decorate for a New Year's party. She'd never really been to one that consisted of more than a handful of people and certainly had never actually hosted one. She was very stumped about the decorating and after a long bit of thinking decided lots of colour was in order. With her wand's assistance, the young woman threw up streamers in all the colours of the rainbow. Confetti of silver, gold, and pearl floated down from the ceiling, seeming to melt as it hit the hardwood floor below. There were even balloons. Tons of them in all the different colours, each with glowing messages that alternated between "HAPPY NEW YEAR!", "Let's Party!", and various other celebratory messages. It looked as though every party she could have decorated for over the years had been smashed into one and Arianna couldn't have liked it better.
Once she was done with the decorating, Arianna checked over the food one last time. Everything from cauldron cakes and chocolate frogs to pizza and buffalo wings, sausages, puddings...everything one could imagine, all piled on the marble table. American food, Chinese food, Mexican, Italian. Cake left over from Arianna's birthday the day before. All was there. There was even sushi and caviar on ice sitting on the counter for those who dared, along with drinks ranging from butter beer and pumpkin juice, to water and good old coca-cola. All there bases should be covered. There was definitely enough food for an army.
"Any guesses on who will get here first?" Arianna asked, wandering over to Nic. Though the party was all about being casual, she'd dressed up a smidgen, wearing a pair of jeans, a nice pale green halter, and a pair of black heals with buckle to match her shirt. Her hair was pulled up in a high ponytail, curls cascading down past her shoulders and showing of a pair of silver hoop earrings. An outfit fit for clubbing. Which was just how she wanted her party to feel.

Nic had headphones on his head, but the left one was off his ear while the right one thumped music into his head. He had a small raised platform totally outdone. He had his music hooked up so the he could do a little scratching and being muggleborn he had some of the greatest muggle hits. He recently went out and spent just about all his xmas money on some good wizarding hits, but anything he didn't have he could conjure on this totally bitin musicmaker. Basically it was like downloading music but you got the whole album. It mad muggle Napster look like child's play.
Nic glanced up at Ari and smiled at her as he floated two cookies, and a cup of juice over to him right behind Ari. "I dunno, but the party should be bumpin in a bit. It's still mad early and I'll get some music thumpin so they know'll where da hot spot is at." Nic leaned over and wrapped one arm around Ari's middle and kissed her on the lips. " Happy new yer, ma."
Since Ari was dressed up Nic was dressed down. He was wearing a big black and green baggy t's shirt, his shorts were on his waist, but the cuffs went all the way down to mid shins and he had on the latest Black Tims on his feet. He looked mad tight in an urban way.

"And to you, too," Arianna smiled up and Nic, her grin stretched from ear to ear. Heck, even if no one showed up, they could have a party of their own. Arianna certainly wouldn't have minded. Heck, she'd even had a hard time trying to decide whether she'd wanted the night alone with Niccy, or gather some friends for a big event. But after having Christmas and her birthday pretty much just the two of them, she'd thought it wouldn't be such a bad idea to throw the party.
"And I think you look very hot in these clothes," she commented, daring to slip her hand into his back pocket and leaned in to get a listen of the music playing in Nic's ear. It was a good decision to let him be in charge of the music. He knew, much better than she did, what would get the crowd going. "I might have to keep an eye on all the girls in the room...."

Count on Beni to be around for a festive occaison. She had seen herself be suffciently deprived of any sort of mass celebration, if only to get through the first six months as a good flat-renter with a boyfriend who was constantly close to danger, espcially with the last few months. Now everything that appeared on the Daily Prophet concerning the the Department of Magical Law Enforcement caused her heart to skip a beat, check Ben's vital signs, and go on with the day in caution. Still, that routine was getting old, and she was getting used to having to see him leave for his training.
This time, though, she held on to him, for it was time for the night to pop up with good things. The invitation to Arianna's party was pleasant and sweet, a great supplement to the notice that it was a year into Ben and Beni's relationship. Of course, they could celebrate just a bit, but at least they could find a reason to look good and whisper to each other about the great moments of the last twelve months.
It was down to the wire and down to the door. Beni was pleased to look up at Ben and find him still by her. Just what she wanted in this world. "New Year's Eve!" she exclaimed as she knocked for their presence. "Who would have thought we made it this quick to ditch this year?" She grinned up at him.

Benjamin London hadn't really felt like Benjamin London these past few weeks. Each day in training brought some new, horrible surprise about and he didn't know if he was going to make it. He'd screwed up with Raynor and been sent off, he'd found Thanatos in his office, and training each day was taking it's toll on his body, mind and now, spirit. He tried to put on a smiling face for Beni each day, but it killed him that he just couldn't be so excited about life as he had once been. But maybe tonight was what he needed; a fresh year for a new start, kicking it off with Beni by his side. Ben couldn't really ask for more. Tagging along behind his girlfriend, they reached the door of their destination.
"This year has certainly been a ride, thats for sure," Ben replied, looking down at the girl from his towering height with an actual, genuine smile on his face, "I'm glad I've been able to get through it with you." He leaned down and kissed her lips softly, lingering for only a moment, until he locked his fingers with hers and waited for the door to be opened.

How she wanted to melt at his kiss. But the whole melting thing would have been rather ill timed if the door opened, so she kept herself solidified and confident, her reaction to the kiss relieved and excited that he was with her. "It's going to get so much better." Yes, despite the trials and tribulations of it all, she was actually optimistic of the year ahead. Things seemed to have unfolded themselves and all had potential to carry them into a good and happy life. Beni was already stepping up to be a promising hairstylist, and she was making more and more connections and friendships through her demeanor. It would only take some time before she could really launch her career.

Beni wasn't the only one attempting not to melt at that moment. As soon as she had heard the knock on the door, Arianna had to get in one last kiss before rushing off to greet her guests. She didn't know if there would be time for sneaking some in before the clock struck midnight and made sure this one was a good one. It had to be to last through the night.
Still grinning, Arianna hurried to the door and flung it open, leaving Nic to take care of whatever last minute preparation he might have to do.
"BENI!" she squealed the girl's name. Arms flew, pulling the older girl into a hug before urging the two to come inside, taking coats and gloves and hats and tossing them toward the nearby coat rack, which moved to catch each item before it fell on the floor. "And Ben? How are you two? I'm sooo excited you could come!"

"Ari girl!" Beni exclaimed before the intial greeting was all over. The two hadn't had enough time to do many fun things other than getting punched, dying hair, and randomly dancing. But she knew now that the girl must have been of age already to do some damage once she was out of Hogwarts, so this was no epilogue.
"Sweet and dandy," she replied again to her question. Sure, there were stresses involved and maybe even some tension, but they both had their health. Isn't that what mattered? Although, speaking of health, Beni was worried for Ben's...

"Hey Ari," Ben greeted the girl, flashing her a grin as she took his coat and things, tossing them onto the hook for him. He was about to answer her question when Beni piped up for the both of them. With a chuckle, he nodded in Beni's direction. "What she said," he answered. The auror to-be's arm wrapped itself around Beni's middle, pulling her in close to him as they went into the studio. He looked around, admiring the place and decided to share his thoughts with the girl.
"Great studio," he told her with a grin.

No way. Charlie wasn't going to be stuck around Chris's lame friends, much less for a holiday that could be more fun than it was just about an hour ago. By then, she was stuck in the house, sitting on a couch while the lot of them mingled, and steadily got drunker. Charlie on the other hand, paid no mind to them and went to disappear in the spare room, telling Chris to not bother her at all 'cause she wanted some sleep. In reality, the minute she was in the room, she was out of the apartment. Quickly she had collapsed herself on her broom, and just did it without thought of the repercussions. The goal on this broom was this: meet up with Hiro, and find some fun at Ari's party.
He had invited her as the plus one, and she was just a tad bit reluctant. But he was going to go, she figured it wasn't going to be hell. And if she knew Hiro, he would have to be on the lookout for getting into Muggle London. If she could help him there, then that would be okay, too.
She didn't use the broom for long, if only to get down from the few flights of stairs. And the brisk air of London served for a good walking space as she went along to find Marlow Studios. Apparently it wasn't too far from her temporary residence, and she was glad to have it close by.
In the night with her broom rustling behind her, she found the place after half an hour, almost perfect estimation of how long it would take to get there by foot. But she wasn't going to just barge in. By the door, she touched nothing except for her back to the wall. Now just commenced the wait for Hiro.

Hiro hadn't been planning to leave Hogwarts this break, even though it was an incredibly boring break. A surprise came along when he was invited to a new year's party. Not the invitation itself but who was hosting it. While Nic and himself were at least talking now, Ari was another story. Though he had been planning to try and rebuild the bridge that was broken after break it seemed that Ari wanted that to be done sooner. After a few days Hiro started sending out owls to help finalize his decision.
Leaving Hogwarts had never been a problem, the tunnel to Honeydukes was the best choice since the owner and his friend, Finn MacCool, had agreed to get him to pass by floo to London. That's where the trick came in, London was a big city and though his wand could point north he didn't know enough about muggles to get by with just that. The directions were pretty simple on the invitation.
The invitation also didn't have a dress code. His original plan was to dress up, better safe than sorry. However after he had his dress shoes on with his dark blue socks he decided to change to sneakers, easier to move around in them. His light colored pants would've gone well with his golf shirt had it not been covered up by a hooded sweatshirt due to the cold. His usual blindfold and cane were with him like normal. All and all he was a sight to see trying to figure out why there would be a gate that blocked, as far as he knew, muggles' main mode of transportation, the subway.

Charlie tucked her hands into her parka, and gathered her insides for warmth. Maybe she was too early. Or even too late? He could have easily gone in already, warm and mingling with Arianna and Nic. What a jealous thought. Mostly for the warmth, though.
In terms of Ari and Nic, well... it was complicated. She avoided them as much as possible, and it was working well until now. They knew of her tainted reputation, and she knew of the debacle between the two and Hiro. So far it wasn't as easy as saying who was right or wrong... just more of forgetting that she was the reason for all of the bruises and cuts and that she never said anything sufficient for it.
Charlie sighed, and the tension seemed to float in a white cloud. More where that came from.

Nic made to grab Ari one last time, but she was light water escaping his grasp. Nic sighed and watched her sashay to open the door. Nic checked his music once more before putting on a simple beat with the Crazy Wizards lyrics on. It was something to get the party started. Nic nodded at Beni and Ben before floating over a few more goodies and getting back to the music. He was going to pop in a few mix cd, set the stereo to go to each track on each cd, and mingle with his girlfriend.

"Thank you," Arianna grinned and invited the two arrivals to take a look around. Even she had to admit it was a nice place and that she was lucky enough to have it. Not everyone had their own studio apartment before they were out of school, let alone one like this. it was unfortunate, however, just how she had inherited the place. Which was why she would be dedicating the lower levels to the ones who had made pretty much every aspect of her life at Hogwarts and in London, possible.
"You can consider yourselves invited when I open the gallery, too," she spoke as she led Ben and Beni further into the apartment. The area that might be considered the living room had been converted into a large dancing area, with tables and chairs set against the nearest wall. "And since you two are the first to come, what do you want to do? There's food...Nic's got the music going...."
Arianna really wasn't quite certain what to do first. Mingling with the guests and making sure they were having a good time was a sign of a good hostess, so she wanted to know what they wanted to do. This was, after all, her first party. She wanted it to be a success, of course, but also wondered if she'd still be able to sneak some alone time with Nic without the party going haywire.

"Third stop...man it's cold, two blocks forward and one block left." Hiro repeated the directions that one of the few friendly muggles had given him while trying to pass through the gate. They actually paid to use something like that; overcrowded and smelly that's all that subways are, not convenient at all.
"I should have worn a hat." He said pulling his hood up to cover his orange hair. Though he now knew where he had to go he was still taking his time. The hosts of the party weren't on the best of terms with him and although Charlie agreed to come as his guest he was still hoping that there would be a large enough crowd to hide in when he got there. Drew had said that he hoped to bring Felicity but that didn't seem like a possibility so other than Charlie he really wasn't sure who he'd be talking to.
He now stood a block from where the party was supposed to be held. He seemed almost stuck at the corner, the weight of the stones in his gut causing him to stay where he was. I'll have to face her sometime. He told himself before breaking his moment of parallelization and taking another step forward. Just to the end of the block now.
