The song ended and the time was called and Drew looked at Felicity, ready to follow her lead. Would they have another dance or should they try to slip out now? Ten minutes seemed a bit early to make their escape, but Felicity knew best what would happen.
It felt a little dishonest, sneaking out like they were planning, and Drew would have rather just been able to kiss her out in the open, but that didn't seem very likely. He'd settle for the slight bit of trickery but if they got caught in the act, he wasn't going to lie. Lying alwasa got you in a bigger mess.

Pretty? What kind of a boy did she think he was? Nothing was pretty...well, that wasn't always true either. But his aunt and her boyfriend? Ew! Wrinkling his freckled nose, he shook his head defiantly, making sure this girl knew he didn't think they were pretty. But what could she have been thinking about? It had to have been something really painful if she looked like that.
Turning back to her, since she sounded as though Felicity would be all right, he watched her for a minute. She didn't seem to be like Felicity's other friends, they were always pinching his cheeks and calling him cute. This one hadn't even touched him. This was a good thing.
"Freddy," he answered simply. "Lissy's my aunt." That's usually what people asked next, how he was related to someone. "What were you thinkin' about?" The boy and his innocent one-tracked mind.
The song was over, and as much as she wanted to dance to the next one with him, even though it was an even slower paced song, she knew she couldn't. Celina said it was all right for one song, one dance, not two. And she'd asked her for only one with him.
Carefully sliding her hand into his, she tugged him away from where people were getting ready for their next dance, towards the food table. Food was good for a nervous stomach, at least for Felicity's it was.
It was much too early to leave just yet, she figured they should wait a while longer, that way her dad would already be in place with her mum and he wouldn't be willing to leave his post in case he missed the turn of the years.
"Do you want to go talk with Celina and Freddy for a few minutes?" she asked, daring to wrap her arms around his middle after popping a bit of cheese into it.

"Yeah, we could," Drew answered, thinking it sounded like a good idea. He would have prefered to keep dancing, but Felicity obviously didn't want to or had other plans or something. Talking to Celina and Freddy seemed like a safe option. The little boy seemed to be the one relative of Felicity's who liked Drew the most... a thought that wasn't all that comforting considering the kid still kept insisting that Drew was a giant.

Of course she wanted to continue dancing, but it was more she only asked for one dance away from Celina. It really wasn't fair to leave the girl by herself for any longer, if for any time at all. However, if Celina were not there, she might've danced with Drew all night, but without the Ravengirl there, it would've been extremely hard to figure out her plan. With the girl there, it just made Felicity's mind feel calmer about it, merely because she was able to talk it out before presenting it to Drew.
Letting her arms fall from around him, she began walking towards the pair. His answer hadn't been very enthusiastic, but really, she couldn't just up and leave her friend for that much longer. And Freddy didn't mind Drew, or at least he'd told her he didn't, so she really didn't think the two of them would mind if they jumped in to the conversation.
The Gryffindor figured they could make their 'escape' around three minutes to, leaving enough room for her to run upstairs and see if she could find another sweater and having Drew meet her in the kitchen. That would be plenty of time to sneak outdoors and bring in the year.

"Thinking? Oh, nothing really," Celina gave Freddy a bleak smile as she tried to think about what she was thinking about. She wasn't thinking about much, except for Felicity, Drew, Feliticy's plan for midnight, and so on and so forth. None of which she could tell the boy, but another thoguht did catch the raven girl's mind. Freddy was Felicity's nephew? It was a hard concept to grasp that Felicity at the young age she was already had a nephew. "She's your aunt?" Celina asked the boy as the corner of her eye caught Drew and Felicity' movement.

Eyeing the girl suspiciously, he wondered if she was telling the truth. From observance of his other family members, mainly the females, he'd learned when girl's said stuff like that, they didn't always mean it. But the thought didn't last very long as Celina presented a new question to him and he nodded with a huge smile.
"Uh huh," Freddy gave a cheesy grin. "That's my aunt Lissy," he added, pointing in the direction of the two moving towards them. Leaning in closer to the girl, he whispered to her, "she's my favite, but don' tell no one else I said that."
It wasn't nice to have a favourite, even at his age he knew that, but he couldn't help it. Felicity was always taking him somewhere with her and playing with him.
Smiling, Felicity walked right over to Freddy and lifted him into her arms, pulling him into her to give him a bear hug and dance a little in place with him. "Have you been keeping Celina busy?" she asked with a bit of a jest and an apologetic look at her friend. The blonde wasn't sure how Celina had taken to the boy, he could be obnoxious as all children could be. "I hope you haven't been a pest."
With a shake of his red head, his blue eyes never let the giant out of his sight. With him being so close, he had to make sure he wasn't going to try to step on anyone or eat him.

Drew broke into a smile when Felicity lifted Freddy in the air and started dancing with him. It was a pretty cute scene. Of course, Drew thought that just about anything she did was pretty adorable.
He noticed Freddy eyeing him and he tried to smile back, still not sure why the little guy was so suspicious of him. Sometimes Drew felt that getting Freddy's aproval waas almost as important as getting that of Felicity's dad.

Celina giggled at the child. "I won't tell, I promise," she told him as Felicity and Drew made their way over towards them. Celina smiled at the two and fought the urge to shake her head. Compared to almost anyone, especially Freddy, Drew did seem like a giant in the making...though, Celina knew the difference quite well. And Drew looked nothing like a giant, they were a bit more....hideous, in Celina's personal opinion.
As Felicity came over, picking up Freddy and danced with him, it brought memories up of her and her brother when she was younger. Happier times those were. Happier than most recent ones had been. "Oh, no...not a pest at all. I enjoyed his company." Celina giggled again, especially when she looked at the boy and noticed his eyes were focused on Drew. It was cute how protective Freddy was. Celina was somewhat glad that she was on everyone's good side it seemed...maybe, it was just the fact that she was a girl. Celina didn't know, and as she stood up after a while, she just smiled....five minutes left until midnight....or was it eight? "What time is it?" Celina asked.

Smiling at Celina, Felicity turned her attention back to the red head in her arms and gave him another bear hug before shifting him to her hip and leaning a bit into Drew from her other side. To believe Freddy hadn't been a pest wasn't a terrible thing to imagine, he was usually on good behaviour, it was just, as many children could be, he would get under the skin of someone.
"I'm glad to hear it. Freddy, you've been a good chap?" she giggled into his ear in which he he replied with a squirming plea to be let go, only to get a good tickle before the blonde released him amid a round of laughter. "Go along now and make sure Grandpapa and Grandmum make it to the stairs and no one else is in their way."
Taking up Drew's hand as she leaned her head up against him, she checked his watch. "Four and half...and twenty-five...and twenty..." she answered with a small smile at her friend. "It's almost time. Have you found anyone you're interested in Celina?" she asked with a good jest. Of course the blonde knew her friend wouldn't be interested in anyone at the party, but she did like to jest with her friend about such.

The question caught Celina off guard, and without even a moment to think about the question Celina's face flared a red that was undoubtedly already pleading guilt to something she was not guilty of. "I..in...interested in?" Celina stumbled over her words as she went to straightening out invisible wrinkles in her clothing. "Of...of course not!" Celina tried to giggle off her nervousness and her obvious discomfort. What was Felicity thinking? Saying such things that were obviously not true. Celina was embarrassed and unaware how jestful her friend was being. Had she made any such suggestions with her looks at people? Celina didn't know, and kept her gaze down at her clothing.

"Oh Celina," the blonde cried out with a big smile. "I'm only just teasing. And you already look smart, there's no need to smoothe out your clothing, love." As if Celina ever had wrinkles that were in need of smoothing over to begin with, the girl was hardly ever out of place at a high-up function; in fact, about the only time the girl hadn't looked smart was at their first encounter in the loo. "I know you're not interested in anyone here."
Though, if the girl had been, Felicity would've been sure to drag her friend or the one she was interested in closer to the other and made them chat a bit. However, if Celina really wasn't interested in anyone, as she believed to be true, there was no need to drag anyone anywhere, at least not for another few seconds.
Glancing around a bit, she spotted her dad tugging at her mum's elbow to get her to hurry her conversation up so they could claim their spot on the stairs, and she knew it was time to head off.
"I'm going to go upstairs and grab a jumper," she told her friends, giving an apologetic look to Drew for not being able to grab their proper outerwear. "I could grab one of Jacob's jumpers for you, if you'd like."
It was really the best she could do for Drew as all of their coats were by the front door.

"I should be good," Drew answered thinking he could manage without the loaner. He had his own sweater on for starters and while it wasn't going to fully protect him from the freezing temps, he knew they weren't going to be out there very long. And if everything worked out, he'd be close eonugh to Felicity and get some of the benifit of her sweater, right? Besides, he had seen Jacob's glares and didn't think the guy would appreciate Drew using anything of his things.

"Very well," she responded with a quick nod. "I'll meet you in the kitchen then, give me a minute or so." Smiling, she hugged him tightly before smiling her thanks to Celina yet again and leaving the two. Felicity figured if she went up the stairs where her parents were heading, they'd see her and know she was still around and hadn't taken off, she'd grab a sweater and go down the backstairs. It wouldn't be hard to just slip out the kitchen door.
And sure enough, she almost ran smack into her dad as he turned around and entered a quick conversation explaining she was a bit chilly and what she was running up the stairs for, and that she'd be back down soon after, making sure to leave out that she'd be heading outside.

Drew smiled back, still a little concerned that they were going to get caught. He tried to tell himself that it wasn't a big deal. They were just going to spend a few innocent moments celebrating the New Year together, right?
As Felicity slipped upstairs, Drew turned to Celina, mouthing a heartfelt thanks to his Ravensister before he made his way back to the kitchen. He knew Celina was running some sort of interference and he was eternally grateful that he'd get a bit of alone time with Felicity because of it.

Making her getaway from her parents, she ran up the stairs to her room and grabbed the jumper closest to her reach. Pulling down over her head as she made her way to the bathroom for a quick refresher and check, she brushed her hair out and brushed her teeth as quick as was possible. The sweater she'd gotten her hands on was a simple knit, lilac colour, something she'd received for Christmas from her sister. Purple colours were not her favourite, but it was better than pink.
Running down the other set of stairs, she stopped abruptly at the bottom step, hearing someone call out a minute warning. At least she was by the door, all she had to do was wait for Drew.
