It had been a long night, and an even longer month prior. April was when the newest addition to the Cronon family was said to have been due, and four times, Alexander's mother, Patricia Cronon, had gone into labor. And four times, it had been all false alarms. It was only this last time had Alexander and Felicity managed to obtain the permission needed to leave Hogwarts and attend the birthing, or what they all hoped would be the birthing of a new baby boy or girl.
Alexander paced back and forth, black bags under his eyes that were narrowed on the floor in the waiting room as he could hear his mother trying to sing through her pain. Though there shouldn't have been much with all the potions and such that they were sure to give her... however, even that didn't sound right. Patricia had never been one for taking too many medicines... even herbal or magical based. What pain didn't kill you, only made you stronger.... or so she'd told Alexander multiple times. It almost made him wonder if she'd ever felt any pain at all...
...Of course, he'd then remember that she'd been run over by a car before, and survived. Yup, his mother was probably the strongest woman he'd ever known. Sighing, he filtered his hand through his hair, his head slowly looking up to where a door opened up and his father stepped through. He didn't look well either...
The older Cronon male was pale from head to toe, and yet, he had a smile on his face. "This is it, my'boy! This is it!!" he exclaimed running over to Alexander and shaking him slightly after grabbing onto his shoulders. "You're mum's doing it! They can see the head!" After 23 hours of labor, Alexander's laugh was more out of relief than excitement.
Alexander looked over toward Felicity and smiled widely, sleep wanting to take him from that very moment but he fought the urge. "The head, Lissy...." Alexander repeated, in awe... and definitely in shock.
