Welcome to the Ministry of Magic! Have a very pleasant day.
[Full Character Name:]Alun Morgan
[Character Gender:] Male
[Character Age:] 37
[Position Requesting:] Auror
[Country of Citizenship:] Wales
[Years of Employment at Ministry:] 17 years
2 years Basic Auror training
1 years Advanced courses
14 years on the force
He was also on the Muggle police force for 10 years.
[Physical Character Description:] A tall, dark-haired man of 37, Alun Morgan had the build and look of an Auror. Being on the force for 14 years, as well as another 10 on a Muggle police force, Alun has a fairly muscular build with broad shoulders and a solid frame. Towering and intimidating, Alun was always fairly good at Quidditch, which also provided the muscular strength.
Alun has a very rough exterior. He’s got the scruffy, day-old stubble facial hair and he’s exceptionally tall, standing at nearly 6’5”. To any stranger, he would look almost terrifying, but to those that know him, they would know he was a big teddy bear underneath. The feature of Alun’s that takes away from the rough exterior is his adorable smile. Lots of things make him smile, and he doesn’t mind letting down his defensive wall to flash a smile.
When he’s not in uniform (wizard or Muggle), Alun likes it comfortable. If he’s lazing around, Alun is usually clad in a pair of old jeans and a t-shirt, plain and simple. Alun isn’t a big fan of dressing up, but he does he can actually clean up quite nicely. However, Alun’s version of “dressing up” is just a dress shirt and a clean pair of pants. As sad as it may seem, he needs his daughter’s help dress himself up for important occasions.
[Personality Character Description:] Alun is a very kind man. If asked to describe himself in one word, he would like to think that he’s kind. Others perceive him as just a genuinely good man who is honest and decent. Alun likes to believe these things himself, but he knows he has secrets and sees himself differently that others do. His extreme loyalty was what got him in trouble in the past, and in recent times, has learned there’s a fine line between betrayal and doing what is right.
Alun is also a man of many pet-peeves. His biggest one (which could be considered hatred, more than just a pet-peeve) is liars. He has absolutely no tolerance for liars, which is somewhat of a contradiction on his part as he had to lie in order to stay loyal. An extremely complex man is Alun Morgan, often full of contradictions and double-standards. He tries the best he can to separate it all and try to stay true to himself but finds it exceptionally difficult.
Another pet-peeve of his is one that Alun does himself; he gets angry too fast. He hates that he has such a sort temper, which is actually what triggers it most of the time. He knows it’s a trait he passed on to his daughter, which he isn’t that happy about, but sees she controls it better than he does. Another thing that really sets him off is having to wait. Alun is incredibly impatient, but can force himself to be if he really, really needs to.
Aside from the fact that it got him into a ridiculous amount of trouble (as well as some physical injury), Alun is one of the most loyal people you will ever meet. He always thinks of others before himself and wouldn’t intentionally put anyone in danger. Alun even tries his best to keep criminals safe, despite the urge to kill them himself. This brings us back to his anger control problem that he hates.
Alun is incredibly flawed and he knows it. It’s not like he flaunts it, but he knows how he is and he’s trying his best to fix it. The best way to describe him is damaged. He’s seen things and heard things that he’d rather forget, but he’s also a strong man, and has been able to pull through the worst. That’s one great aspect of this man; his mental strength. He in incredibly focused as well, but that also makes him really stubborn. When Alun is focused and gets into his own little world, there’s not very much that can penetrate it. He hates to be interrupted when he’s that focused and often snaps at those that do, but apologized straight away, unable to stay mad at people for very long.
Away from work and the stresses that follow, Alun Morgan is a big teddy bear. He has a really fun and outgoing wild side that he would much rather show to the world than the scary and damaged side that usually comes out when he works. He’s got a quite contagious laugh and loves to do it. He’s a sucker for a good joke, and often has a few of his own to crack. Alun’s big soft heart reflects what he wants people to see the most. His adorable smile helps with that, as does his incredible kindness, and truth be told, he can also be a bit of a flirt. It seems weird, hearing that a man as scruffy looking as him can be a flirt, but its true and he’s also a big charmer. He can’t help that he’s such a sweet talker, but it is fortunate for him now that he’s single once again. His daughter is incredibly happy about that.
[History:] Alun James Morgan has been through it all. Some good, some bad, some just plain weird, but he’s seen everything. From an early age, Alun always liked to help people and was willing to give a hand whenever it was needed. Born on August 22nd, 1970, Alun became a part of the well-known and prestigious Pureblood family the Morgans. The Morgan clan had inhabited the rather miniscule country of Wales for centuries, all being big society “hoity toities” as Alun liked to put it. He, however, was different. Not wanting to live a boring life of strictly social events and other Pureblood functions, Alun chose a different course of action. He was looking for just that; action.
During his school years (attending Hogwarts between the years of 1981-1988 in the proud house of Godric Gryffindor), Alun was always fascinated by the Dark Arts. As it was the end of Lord Voldemort’s first reign, the Dark Arts were still a touchy subject and Alun had been forbidden to read into it anymore than what was necessary for school. Of course, as adolescent as Alun was, he had to defy every rule, especially this one. He was soon enthralled with the idea, but more so on how to fight it. From reading about all the horrible things done by Lord Voldemort and his followers, Alun decided at a young age that he would be one of those who put those people to justice. He wanted to be an Auror.
Throughout his time as a Hogwarts student, Alun exceeded in Defense Against the Dark Arts class as well as Charms. By the time he was in his fifth year, Alun had made up his mind that Auror was the only way to go and there was no way to change the exceptionally stubborn boy’s mind. It was also around this time that Alun met his wife-to-be, Andrea Brown.
Right after school, Alun went into work. He started his basic Auror training as soon as he could and excelled. Alun was part of the Auror force for nearly 14 years, but it was during his second year as a fully fledge Auror that the life of exciting adventures didn’t seem like it was all it had been cracked up to be. While on a mission with a few fellow Aurors, Alun knew something was wrong from the beginning. He was quick to realize that it wasn’t actually a mission they were on, but his partners were what Muggles would call “dirty cops.” In league with a group of Dark wizards, Alun soon found himself mixed up in a whole world of trouble. Unsure as to whether he should break his loyalty and turn them in, or stick it out and see what happened, Alun’s conscience finally got the better of him. After nearly 6 months of double-dealing, Alun turned in his Auror partners, making quite a few enemies along the way.
Soon after, things seemed to have blown over. Talking at the Ministry had died down and the constant hounding of the Daily Prophet had practically stopped. All seemed to be right with the world again, and Alun’s life was getting back on track. The next year his daughter, Deryn, was born. While it was a happy time for everyone, it was a shame that the future could not be foreseen. A few years later, tragedy struck when Alun’s wife went missing, only to by found months later by Ministry workers. It took a while for the grief and shock to settle in, but once it had, Alun was never the same. He tried to continue working at the Ministry for a few years but it soon became too much for the man to handle and he eventually moved himself and his daughter away from it all and into a small Muggle town in Wales.
It seemed that once again everything was fine. Alun had joined a Muggle police force, shocking and causing waves of awe at his “ability” to capture even the toughest of criminals that the other officers had been unable to catch. With a little magic help, Alun soon became somewhat of a legend, getting the reputation of being a hard ass. But once again, Alun Morgan was to fall on hard times. Having recently gotten engaged, Alun was attacked by unknown wizards and witches in his house, having two of the three Unforgivable Curses used on him. Alun ended up in St. Mungo’s for quite some time, trying to recover and eventually his engagement fell through. Now again the healthy man he once was, Alun is ready to get back into the Ministry. He hopes he can pick up where he left off in the Auror department, hopefully with not too much talk around him.
[Special talents/knacks : ] Alun certainly has a talent for attracting attention, usually the wrong kind. It always seems to be Alun that’s at the center of a conflict, mainly because of his stubbornness. He likes to think that his stubbornness is courage or determination, but there’s a fine line between those traits, which Alun has yet to discover.
One thing that really stands out about Alun is how much of a teddy bear he really is. His rough exterior is misleading, but he’s really a genuinely nice man, as well as a sweet talker. He views his trait of “sweet talker” as a talent, so it’s best to just let him be.
One talent of Alun’s that is actually of value is his reflexes. Trained with the best in the Auror department, Alun is quite fond of his lightning fast reflexes and takes pride and feels confident in this certain ability.
[Writing/Role Playing Example:] On the look out. Or were they? It didn’t seem like they were heading in the right direction, not according to the instructions given from the head of the Auror department. Had there even been instructions? They seemed a little iffy, which was something that was definitely out of place. Orders for the Aurors were always concrete and had a purpose. But tonight, Alun was feeling wary. He wasn’t sure what it was, but he knew there was something wrong. He just hoped he could figure it out before something went really wrong.
“Lads, what exactly i--” but he was stopped. Alun’s expression hardened into one of anger. He hated being interrupted, but he soon saw it was for good reason. His partners had crowded around him, pushing him on forward. Alun wished he could stop and protest, but a sinking feeling in his stomach told him it was best to keep quiet. Turning down a dark alley way, Alun kept his mouth shut tight and his face was set in concentration, if for no other reason that to keep the fear off of it.
Ahead of him somewhere, Alun could hear talking, but the words didn’t make sense. He couldn’t really see what was going on either, and his heart was starting to beat faster and faster. Suddenly he saw it. His partner that was talking to a group of men rolled up his sleeve, revealing the black mark on his arm. A skull with a long, twirling serpent protruding from its mouth. For a moment, it was a faint grey colour but then it turned to black. And then the others rolled up their sleeves too.
