[ Full Character Name: ] Tobin Phillip Foster
[ Character Gender: ] Male
[Character Age:] 22
[ Position Requesting: ] Member of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad
[ Country of Citizenship: ] United Kingdom
[Years of Employment at Ministry:]2
[ Physical Character Description: ]
Tobin is 6'2", blond and often sports a trimmed beard. On occasion he will shave or the beard will begin to be overgrown. The presence of facial hair makes a drastic difference in his apparent age. With a clean shaven face the young man can pass for a Hogwarts student but with his usual scruff most place him a nearly 30 years. His hair is currently rather short but he will most likely change it soon, either growing it out or cutting it back. He always enjoys altering his appearance in small ways.
While he remains in shape through light exercise, he is in no way bulky. He has a trim build, lean but muscular. Standing at 6'2" he is not easily overpowered.
Toby has very few unique traits to his appearance. He does not wear glasses, he has no freckles, and thankfully, there are no remarkable scars on his body. He is a plain dresser, wearing formal clothes for work such as Muggle suits, ties, vests and sweaters. When spending leisure time with his friends and coworkers he will stay comfortable with jeans and an open shirt.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Tobin is rather intelligent in a library sort of way. He enjoys learning and hard work, often spending hours figuring out a problem when he could just ask someone for the answer. His favorite feeling is the one achieved after succeeding at a large task whether it be academic or trivial. As a result, he occasionally creates problems to solve, wasting time when he could be relaxing or meeting new people. He has a collection of friends and when forced he can be amiable and outgoing but usually he would rather spend his time at work than in the pursuit of what most consider a “good time.”
It’s true that when holed up at a desk or in an office Tobin believes that he desires nothing else, but when he his with close friends and is laughing and having a good time, he begins to understand that he misses those moments. Only he forgets this once he is back at the office, busy with work. His friends tire when the are constantly seeking him out and forcing him to come along.
While he excelled academically at Hogwarts he never showed the ambition that was present in many of his peers. While others were boasting of the fantastic careers they planned on entering, Tobin never could grasp what would truly make him happy. Although he is only 22, he knows that his job with the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad is probably only temporary as he continues in his search for a true match.
Though he is a work-a-holic, Tobin has a great sense of humor. It is how he makes friends and why so many of them stick around. It is also part of the reason that work days never seem so boring to him, he can spice them up with jokes, pranks and general laughter.
[ History: ]
Tobin was born the first and only child to a magical mother and a Muggle father. His father left when the boy was only 5. This was the same age at which Tobin starting showing signs of his powers. It is only a guess that the two were related. Raised by his mother, Toby only saw his father a few times each year, but still his love for the man grew. Once he reached his 17th birthday in his 6th year at Hogwarts he decided that after graduation he would seek his father out, and hopefully befriend him.
The sorting had placed Tobin in Ravenclaw only a second after it hit his head. He knew his mother and her sisters had also been Ravenclaws so this was no surprise. He loved his house, finally a place which excepted his disposition towards studies and his enjoyment of reading. He remains close with his classmates and continues to take interest in the ongoings at Hogwarts.
In terms of the second rise of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Tobin was old enough to know what was going on but too young to understand that he or his family could be in any danger. Being a half-blood, the son of a pureblood and a nearly non-existent muggle, the boy was never placed in any immediate danger. He formed his opinions on the matter from house-mates and his own logic on the roles of good and evil. Toby admired those students brave enough to fight against the dark wizards when he was a second year. Something in him wanted to stay and fight but of course he was too young and though he’d like to think that he’d have joined the fight had he been of age, he is not certain he would have. This fact, near proof of his cowardice as a boy is something that Toby has struggled with and continues to struggle with. He wishes to be braver.
[ Pros and Cons : ]
The best quality and what makes him proudest is his ability to work hard. He seldom quits until he was found his target or solved his problem. Subjects like ancient runes which require a sort of code breaking have always been a strong interest. He continues to read and research, developing his own library, complete with books from quidditch to muggle mating rituals.
Second only to his work ethic is his ability to retain information. Like any good Ravenclaw, once he reads it, it is learnt. Luckily there is an infinite amount of magic in the world and though he masters what he researches he will always be able to learn more. It is his hope that in the future he will be able to write his own essays and textbooks outlining his own discoveries.
Though he believes that it is hardly useful, he cherishes his sense of humor. Happy to add levity to any situation, he is always quick with a pun. He has been complimented before by both friends and girlfriends for his knack at cheering anyone up by simply saying a joke.
As said before, Toby wishes more than anything to get over his fears. He has begun to slowly face the things he’s afraid of but with no dark lord reign it is difficult to truly face what scares him. As of late he has mastered his fear of water and its creatures.
Though he tries to disguise his irritation with humour, it is often clear that he is easily annoyed when anyone interrupts his work. He has caused many arguments because a friend tried to take him away from his tasks. Usually Tobin has the sense to apologize but occasionally, when he is really wrapped up in something, he only furthers the fight, digging himself into a hole.
Toby cares for his relationships but he seldom puts in the effort that his friends deserve. As a result he carries a large group of people but no closest friend. Though friends hardly ever point out the their relationship is largely one-sided, he has begun to figure this out and as he works on the above issue he works on this as well.
[Credentials:] After graduating from Hogwarts, Toby went to work for his father while also searching for a more meaningful career. His father owns a small shop in London which specializes in repairing electronic devices such as televisions and radios. His father was always opposed to Tobin using his wand for repairs, believing that “being good with your hands is a skill even a wizard can use.” Toby would sneak in a magical repair every now and then but still he became a master at Muggle tools. After 2 years of fixing Muggle machines he wanted to return to the wizarding world and began his pursuit of a ministry position. At first he figured a job in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts department would be right up his alley, but after further investigation he deduced that he would be more interested in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad.

Oi! Get out to the front, and help the customers. What’s holding you up back there? Phillip Foster yelled back to his son. In the backroom of a small shop stood a young man struggling with a large Muggle television. An assortment of tools lay strewn across the table and floor beside him as he tried to force the back of the large black box off with a screwdriver.
“Just a-” the box nearly fell of the table, Tobin had to dive forward, dropping the screwdriver, just catching the television before it smashed to the ground, “-minute.” At the same moment that he was returning the television to the table, his father emerged through the black curtain which separated the storeroom from the front.
Ye haven’t fixed that yet? Mr Ornidry is standing in line, I promised him it be ready yesterday.
“It’s ready dad. Just give me a minute would you?” his father stared at his son questioningly so Tobin quickly added, “I just need to brush the dust off, presentation’s important right?” He father sighed but left the room, presumably to go out and explain the delay to what was now a line of customers at the front counter.
Once he was sure that his father was gone, Tobin reached into his pocket and pulled out a long reddish brown wand. Pointing it toward the black TV, he muttered “Reparo” and the television was as good as new. He replaced the wand and moved to carry the box out front but something stopped him. Reaching back into his pocket he once again removed his wand, pointed it at the box and said “Tergeo.” With a flash the dust what gone and Tobin, satisfied, took the box in his arms and walked through the curtain to the front.
