Welcome to the Ministry! Have a pleasant day.
[ Full Character Name: ] Cassandra Eileen Varone
[ Character Gender: ] Female
[ Character Age: ] 77
[ Position Requesting: ] Senior Undersecretary to the Minister & Head of the Department of Magical Education.
[ Country of Citizenship: ] Ireland, UK
[ Years of Employment at Ministry: ] 53
[ Physical Character Description: ] Medium-length, straight, black hair with tiny streaks of grey, covered by emerald green highlights is what you would usually see adorning the crown of one of the Ministry's most loyal and confident personel. Standing at a height of 5,6", Cassandra Varone is sometimes taken for a pushover by people who do not know her, who would think that this small, elderly witch could reduce a fully fledged, male auror to tears. When her temper gets up, her grey, eagle-like eyes, burn with a fire more dangerous than any on this good earth, magnified ten-fold by her black, rectangular glasses which contrasts perfectly with her pale complexion. Cassandra is a rather skinny woman who knows how to dress. When in work, she would usually adorn her body with long, flowing robes in a variety of colours, blue, black and purple being her favourite. While everyone else is running around in suits and such, Cassandra's idea of what should be worn in the workplace is never deminished, nor is it questioned. In those rare occasions when Cassandra leaves the office, she would usually be found in all sorts of designer clothes, her parents left her a large sum of money to her in her inheritance, then she kept building on that foundation and now can basically afford anything that takes her fancy. She has a dazzling white smile which can sometimes give people a wrong impression of her.
[ Personality Character Description: ] Cassandra Varone is quite a formidable woman. After almost half a century's employment at the Ministry of Magic, she hates to see anything being done wrong. She is a warm, friendly woman to those who know her, but as mentioned earlier, you really don't want to get on her bad side. The last person who got on the end of one of Cassandra's rages, had to be admitted to the intensive care unit in St. Mungo's for a whole month. Cassandra may be starting to come across as some sort of escaped mental patient. I guarentee you she is no such thing. She is a marvellous, intelligent and talented witch, Having spent the majority of her life working towards things that she believes in, she takes them very seriously. When Cassandra isn't working, on those very rare occasions, she likes to go out to the theatre with her friends or throw the occassional party. Unfortunately, in her old age, she is slowing down a little bit, now walking at about the same pace as everyone else. All in all, she has a split-personality. On one side, she is a hard-working, dedicated and exceptional witch and on the other side, she is a loving, caring party animal, who loves nothing more than sitting with her friends, a steaming mug of tea and a packet of chocolate biscuits. Cassandra has a fear of spiders. She is Arachnophobic and has been since the age of 5 when her sister locked her in the garden shed. She stayed in there for 2 hours, with spider's crawling all over her before their family's Gardener, Mr. Fletch, found her.
[ History:] Cassandra grew up in Ireland with her parents (Scott and Patricia Varone) and her twin sister (Helena). She lived on her parent's private country estate in Ireland, being home-schooled by scholars from Dublin's most prestigious university, Trinity College. By the age of 9 she already knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to be appreciated, she wanted to be noticed. it was always Helena who always got the love, affection and most importantly, the attention of her parents. She was a show-off, she was the one who did everything right and threw herself into everything wholeheartedly, especially at the horse-riding competition. Helena and Cassandra both battled it out with the other competition until it was only the two of them left. On that chilly, October morning, both girls arrived at the final of the competition, both parents had turned up to watch. Helena went first, completing the course in just under fifteen minutes, almost not clearing the final jump. Then it was the turn of Cassandra, she began slow and picked up speed as she went, She was approaching the final jump, the one that Helena had almost faltered at. She readied the horse, then shot forward, she was going to make it! She was finally going to beat Helena, Helena obviously saw this as well, and at that precise moment when the horse's front legs left the ground, she let out a high pitched whistle. This threw the horse of guard and it panicked, throwing Cassandra off, and in turn, breaking her arm. Helena won, Cassandra lost, Helena Won, once again it was Helena who got the attention, the love and the glory, while Cassandra lay on the ground, in pain, silently crying on the outside, screaming on the inside. For the next 2 years, Cassandra never forgave her sister. She lived as though she was invisible. When she finally reached the age of 11 she went off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry with her sister.
Here she was sorted into Ravenclaw House, while her sister was sorted into Slytherin House. Her parents, who had both been in Ravenclaw themselves were devestated that their little princess had been sorted into Slytherin. They blamed themselves, they must have brought her up wrong, in one of Helena's letters, it said "Why could you not have been more like Cassandra?" This made Helena furious! For Cassandra? It was as though Christmas had come early! Then Cassandra was given her chance in the limelight and she was not about to let it go lightly. She quickly moved up the school becoming involved in all sorts of activities. In her third year, she became Seeker for her house Quidditch team. Helena had also been chosen as Seeker for the Slytherin House Quidditch Team. In their first match, it had been Cassandra who had emerged victorious, snatching the snitch from right under her sister's nose. She also became Deputy Head of the Gobstones Club. When the time came for Prefects to be selected, Cassandra was top of the list, and Helena was at the bottom. When given the position, she proved herself once again by recieving the following O.W.L. results.
Over the moon with these results, they inspired her yet again. She aimed her sights towards the Ministry and ploughed onwards. Picking up Head Girl and this rather nice set of N.E.W.T. results along the way.
Having been the best student in her year she was eager to begin life in the wizarding world. But her parents encouraged her to attend University, She travelled to America to do so and attended Boston's University of Sorcery for six years. Studying a huge array of subjects, some of which were not taught at Hogwarts, including Potions, Care of Magical Creatures, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Dark Arts, Transfiguration, History of Magic, Mythology, Magical Law, Muggle Relations, Forgotten Languages and Cultures, Medi-Potions and Charms, Metal Charms, Muggle History and Astrology. Leaving with a Major and a Minor. Making her eligable to be both a Professor and an Auror.
By this point, her parents were over the moon with here, She had surpassed their expectations, Leaving School and University with perfect grades, gathering around her a large circle of friends and contacts. Helena however, went over to the dark side and got taken to Azkaban three months later. The tables had certainly turned in Cassandra's favour. Helena was no longer the confident, perfect princess of their parent's hearts. She was now a horrible, devious person, locked away in Azkaban for killing in her home in Aberdeen, and has remained there since. Now Cassandra was the confident one. She was respected and loved by her parents, what she had always wanted. She has always had a soft spot for her sister, even after all of the horrible things she did, and any time the subject of family is brought up, Cassandra zones out of the conversation, as she knows that her facade will crack and the tears will start to roll. However, she was determined not to loose this new-found respect and aimed her sights to a new level.
At the age of 24, she decided to go into the ministry. With her untainted record, perfect grades and excellent qualifications, she was snapped up quickly by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She then climbed that ladder to become Head of the Auror Office where she resided, ruling the office with both precision and decorum for 23 years. She then took over the position of Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement for a further 9 years. She now feels that a change of scenery is in order. She is getting older and knows it, she wants to leave the Department in the capible hands of someone much younger than herself, she is still as active as she ever was, but just doesnt have the time for actual field work anymore. She may be changing jobs, but by no means does she wish to leave the ministry.
[ Special talents/knacks : ] Cassandra is an exceptionally intelligent witch. She can play the violin and the acoustic guitar. She can ride a unicycle, among her many talents. Her Hobbies include Quidditch and archery. She is not a very strong swimmer and almost drowned in a frozen-over lake, when she got trapped under a sheet of ice when ice-skating she was 22 on a trip to Canada with her friends from University at Christmas. Ever since she has had a fear of water, and Ice-skating. If she hadnt been able to get her wand from her coat pocket and uter a quick 'Reducto' she would have been a gonner.
[Writing/Role Playing Example:]
Cassandra Varone appeared in a flash of emerald green flames from one of the many fireplaces arranged around the walls of the atrium of the Ministry of Magic and immediately started walking towards the lifts. She could easily have apparated in, but Floo powder was so much more dramatic. She gave a small smile to herself and continued walking across the large, near-empty room. Taking her usual path around the Fountain of Magical Bretherin, her shoes making a distinct noise on the hard oak floors that had become know throughout the ministry, sometimes for the wrong reasons. Some described it as the sound of a raging bull approaching, ready to skewer you on it's horns. Others said that it was the sound of the cavelry arriving, ready to help sort out the chaos that was the daily life in the Ministry. Cassandra? She merely thought of it as the sound of her shoes on the floor. As she walked, she began to wonder why she was here. She was usually expected in work at 6:00am GMT sharp. No exceptions. It was now 4:32am GMT. High-ranking Ministry employee's were never called into work early unless it was an emergency.
She entered one of the large, carpeted lifts and pressed the button for Level one. Before now she had hardly been on Level One. This was where the Minister resided, and the department of Magical Education. Also, she took a deep breath, the office of Senior Undersecretary to the Minister. The job she had recently applied for. It was a huge leap for her. It had a certain ring to it, Cassandra Varone, Senior Undersecrety to the Minister of Magic. She gave herself another quick smile and looked at herself in the mirror on the side of the lift. She looked perfect, her hair was behaving itself as always, and her long flowing robes, pooled at her feet were aranged just right. She took a big breath, and breathed it out slowly. But what if this was the end? What if this was the day she didn't make it out of the ministry still employed. the minister wouldn't fire her surely! The lift stopped and the doors opened. She stepped out, composed as always, looking as though she had just won the lottery. She gave a quick flick of her wand and her robes flew up behind her as though caught in a non-existant breeze. She strode up the long hallway, eyes fixed on the large, ornate double doors at the end of the hallway. People moved out of her way as she came storming past.
She thought angrily in her head as the door got closer and closer. As she approached, One of the security guards ran and opened the door for her.
She said with a smile, looking at the guard's badge.
She passed through the door and into the office of the Minister of Magic.

"God, even people on Level One are petrified. Why can't they see that I just mean well? It's not my fault I like to do things by the book. If they're thinking of that incident with Stanley Whipshire, all i did was have a little talk with him, the way people are making it out as though I'm some sort of dragon."
She thought angrily in her head as the door got closer and closer. As she approached, One of the security guards ran and opened the door for her.
"Thank You.."
She said with a smile, looking at the guard's badge.
"...Knightley"
She passed through the door and into the office of the Minister of Magic.
