As the jagged, flashing fragments of mirror glass cut through the air, speeding towards her, Aeris whirled to the side, throwing herself out of the path of incoming stabbing shards.
Managing to evade the vast majority of shattered mirror pieces, Aeris stumbled slightly as the black cat that had been earlier twining itself around Sora's legs, streaked past her--no doubt frightened by the clangings and crashes that were filling the narrow alley. A short gasp of surprise escaped the older witch's scarlet lips as a stray shard of glass sliced through her thin robes, piercing her fair skin to embedd itself into her arm.
As a small pool of dark, crimson blood began to well from the gash, Aeris looked up at Sora, her eyes dancing as a tiny grin spread across her lips. The pain didn't bother her one bit. Aeris had experienced much worse. Besides, the pain was not what her mind was focused on at the moment.
"Look at what you've done. Blood, Sora," she explained oddly patiently, not at all angered that it had been his fault that this foreign object had punctured her arm. Rather, she was delighted with him.
"How does it feel, my dear? Do you feel triumphant, that you have spilled my blood? I know that you do not feel resentment for harming another human being--not in the least. Hmm...now why may that be?" she asked him with a knowing little laugh as she wrenched the jagged shard from her arm, tossing it aside. Muttering a quick healing charm, Aeris swiftly closed the gash, raising her wand again towards Sora as she prepared for another go at him. This time she would see what he could do against a REAL curse.
"Crucio!" she yelled in a cruel voice, her eyes reflecting the red light of the curse as it zoomed towards it's target.

Sora watched as the blood seemed to drip from her wound. It was the first time he had made someone bleed, even if it was just because of a simple charm. For some reason, he wasn't saddened or angered by the small gash.
He felt...powerful...and Sora was truly scared because of that feeling. He watched as small red droplets began to land on the floor from her wound, hypnotizing him for a second.
He watched as Aeris healed the wound, leaving no trace of its existence except a strain of blood. Sora felt petrified as Aeris uttered one of the Unforgivables, his eyes watching the reddish curse flying towards him as if in slow motion.
...F*ck...
Sora dropped his wand as the curse collided with him, feeling the pain overwhelm his mind and body. He collapsed onto the floor, feeling pain beyond the pain. He had researched this particular Unforgivable before intensively. He didn't believe it was too painful but was proven wrong as the pain continued to fill his senses. He yelled out in pain, as if feeling knives penetrate every nerve.
A stray thought seemed to cross his mind even through the intense pain.
...He felt he was going to die today...

Aeris watched the young man writhe upon the dusty cobblestones of the alleyway, yelling out in a voice so etched with pain it would make the hair on the back of anyone's neck stand up.
Except hers, of course. Aeris had performed this curse many times before, had this curse performed on her on many occasions during her training. She was immune to it's effects, whether it was the chilling of bone that the screams threatened to cause, or the 'human' emotions that one was supposed to experience as they looked upon someone in such obvious pain.
Aeris felt quite the opposite, actually. She watched Sora before her gleefully, grinning at his obvious pain, at his gut-wrenching screams, and only lifting her wand to free him from the confines of the curse when she decided that a dead or insane Sora would be of no use to both her and the Deva.
"How was that, Sora? First time under the Cruciatus? It's not pleasant, no siree. I can teach you to throw it off though, to resist it. Against us, you will be subjected to that pain as often as we please--and let me point out that it is one of our more favoured curses--but with us, you are immune, even more powerful. The Deva looking more appealing yet?" Aeris asked the panting wizard, gazing down at his sweating, quivering body crouched upon the ground near her shining coal-black heeled boots, which clicked against the hard stone ground as the older witch took a few steps towards Sora.

As suddenly as it came, the pain disappeared. The only think that remained from the curse was the intense memory of the intense pain from the curse. He felt horribly weak and tired, wanting to just be back in his dormitory of Slytherin.
But unfortunately he wasn't...
He was in a dank and morbid alleyway with an insane chick who just casted an Unforgivable on him.
His day was officially ruined.
Sora slowly stood up, his legs shaking from the strain. He picked up his wand as well and gripped it, his eyes never leaving the Deva witch.
"...T-that w-wasn't nice..." Sora huffed, feeling tired.

"Since when did you get the impression that I'm nice?" Aeris asked Sora, her eyes meeting his weakened ones as he once again drew to her level. Her deep chocolate eyes--a rich colour that one would normally expect to draw warmth from--stared hard into the young wizard's eyes, the stare oddly cold as Aeris stood motionless, wordlessly, before Sora's trembling body, her tall, regal stance seeming to radiate power in contrast.
"Have I swayed you any, my dear? I really would like to make this quick, but I'm willing to stay here all day if I have to. I want you, my dear boy," she reiterated emphatically in a cool, crisp voice.
Aeris's eyes darted sideways into the shadows of the alley as she heard a rustling noise. As the same cat that had cost her the gash on her forearm crawled hesitantly into the little bit of light provided by a single lit lantern on the adjoining street, Aeris' crimson lips curled into an evil grin and she stuck out a jeweled hand to point to the curious feline with her inch-long fingernails.
"Kill it. Treat yourself to a taste of death. It is what you need. Do it, and then tell me how it felt," Aeris instructed Sora as she raised her wand to his chest, slowly leaning in to place her lips next to his ear as she did so.
"Oh, and you have no choice. Disappoint me now, and you will be experiencing torture beyond anything your closed mind can imagine," she hissed, before drawing back and turning towards the cat with a purposeful nod.

Sora's gaze changed from the witch now to the black cat which was watching them with its luminous yellow eyes, moving closer as if the topic of its death held some morbid importance to it. Sora mentally willed the feline to run yet it continued to defy him by moving ever so closer to them.
His mind worked overtime as he tried to think a way out of the predicament he was in right now and, unfotunately, his plans were looking grim.
He slowly raised his shaking wand and pointed it to the unsuspecting black cat. Foreign thoughts invaded his mind as he contemplated the problem he was in.
Could he take an innocent life so easily, even if that innocent was just a small cat? Was it so easy to kill on a whim or even in boredom?
Were you still human after one commited these atrocities?
Sora slightly lowered his wand, looking down at the eyes of the cat. He just couldn't, he couldn't take a life so easily.
Suddenly, Sora pointed his wand directly at Aeris' face, closing his eyes as well as he yelled out a spell,
"LUMOS SOLEM!!!"
A blinding white light shined from the tip of Sora's wand, illuminating every dark crevice and hole in the alleyway. The black cat skittered away, scared away by the light as it bathed everything in itself.
Gripping his wand, Sora turned around and ran out of the alleyway like a bat out of hell, not turning around to see if Aeris was following him.

Had she not been able to sense and predict the actions of her opponents, Aeris would surely have never been appointed to the Deva. However, the witch's instincts were sharp, sharpened by years of training, and it was these instincts that allowed her to act even before Sora had completed his incantation.
The blinding charm was dimmed significantly as it collided with Aeris's hastily conjured shield spell, leaving Aeris with only a minor haze over her vision which she quickly vanquished with a few blinks of her dark lashes.
Sora. He was trying to get away, sprinting down the alleyway away from her, heading into the open desertion of the streets of Hogsmeade late at night. Like a fool, he had once again listened to his blasted conscience, had ignored the yearnings that Aeris knew were in his heart, had run out of fear of his conscience and of these yearnings, like a coward. If he thought Aeris was going to just let him waltz out of there on that clear, cool night, he was dead wrong.
Waving away the remnants of her shield charm, Aeris targeted Sora as she yelled an angry incantation, her wand pointed directly, unwaveringly towards him. Her words lingered in the empty air for a fleeting moment before three chains erupted from her wand, headed straight towards the arms, legs, and torso of the young fleeing wizard.

Sora heard the desperate yell of the Deva witch behind him as he continued to run the cobbled streets of Hogsmeade. Chancing a look behind him, he heard a faint whistling behind him as he saw three chains speeding directly towards him.
Thinking quickly, Sora waved his wand and muttered a spell, making a straw dummy of Sora to appear behind him, causing the incoming chains to wrap around the dummy instead of himself.
Making a sharp turn around the corner of a shop, he continued to run straight towards the looming castle. Waving his wand once more and muttering another spell, which caused his wand to produce vast amounts of fog, hiding Sora in itself as he continued to run

Impatiently vanishing the chains that were now wrapped tightly and uselessly around the straw dummy, Aeris continued to chase Sora through the deserted streets of Hogsmeade at night, raising her wand to direct it once again towards the retreating figure of the young wizard.
"Damnit!" she swore under her breath as her chocolate eyes met with a shield of dense, foggy haze. There was no sign of Sora, or rather, anything at all, within the enveloping fog, and a hastily cast clearing charm did little to enhance her visibility. Aeris was blind to the boy.
Stopping in her tracks to listen silently in the absence of her vision, the Deva witch successfully located the faint sound of shoes pounding against cobblestones, not too far away but growing more distant with every passing second. With not a moment to waste, Aeris pointed her wand towards the fading sound, yelling out a powerful incantation as she closed her eyes in concentration.
A single arrow erupted from the tip of the slender weapon, golden tongues of fire licking at the length of the arrow. The tip was red hot, steaming as it cut through the cool night air. Aeris listened to the whistle of the speeding, flaming arrow as it disappeared into the fog, setting her crimson mouth in a tight line as she waited, listening for the sound that she hoped would come, for the sign that Sora had been hit.

Sora continued to run down the streets of Hogsmeade, now close to Hogwarts. With his wand still emitting the fog that shielded him from the chasing Aeris' eyes, he continued to run down the cobbled road. He was almost there, so close yet so far away from the gates of Hogwarts. Rounding the corner, Sora broke into run, seeing the roadway heading towards Hogwarts.
Sora cried out in pain, slumping over suddenly as he felt an intense burning pain in his right shoulder. Glancing to his left, he grimiced as he saw a arrow lodged deep in his left shoulder, the tip poking out of his shoulder. Raising his left hand and grasping the top of the arrow, he pulled it slightly only to let out another cry of pain.
His sight began to fade though with a quick shake of his head, his vision cleared, though he knew it was only for a few seconds. With a deep breath, he drove the pain away from his mind as he continued to run towards the gates of Hogwarts.
He knew that he couldn't go to the Hospital Wing, they would ask too many questions. He would have to heal himself, though he was lacking in healing charms. He finally made it to the gates of Hogwarts and Aeris was no where in sight. Wincing due to the arrow which was still deep in his left shoulder, he slowly made his way back to Hogwarts.
His thoughts was still on Aeris' words.
