"Bloody hell!"
Seth was not usually the forgetful type, however, this Wednesday night he was. The Slytherin boy had misplaced his little sisters birthday present, and all hell would break lose from both his parents, if he didn't find it by morning. Why? Because Seth was a 'good' older brother, and he didn't let slip-ups like this occur. The Collins boy was always so practical and thoughtful when it came to birthdays and Christmas, so for him to forget or misplace his little sister's gift, was something both his parents would pick up on. Now, the teenager hadn't been stressed so far this year. In fact, compared to many, he had been rather relaxed and easy going. Sure, there was OWLS this year, but the Snake generally got good marks without much effort, and therefore, he didn't mind bludging the occasional class here and there. Besides, school, in his opinion, wasn't all about theory, so of course, he paid much more attention to the practical. Duh.
So Seth had found it a mystery when he couldn't find the gift he had picked out before-hand for Veronica, his little sister. She was turning thirteen, and that was kind of a big deal, both to her, and her family. Veronica was a good kid, in Seth's opinion, and he actually liked hanging out with her from time to time, although he would never admit it. The boy had carefully chosen the present from a catalog, and got it ordered to Hogwarts, so he could personally send it from there. The boy received the gift this very morning, and so, waited until the afternoon to wrap and send it off. However, his owl was no where in sight after Seth had written the card, and packaged the silver necklace, with a solid love-heart on it, and a blue stone set in it. On the back of the reasonably sized heart was 'Happy 13th, Love Seth'. It was simple, but Veronica would love it, he knew that for a fact.
Therefore Seth had waited until after dinner to fetch Roy, his snowy owl to send off the gift. The trouble was, after getting the bird, and going back to the Common Room to get the present, the necklace was no where to be seen. He was sure it had been on his bed-side cabinet, but perhaps he had left it on the Common Room mantelpiece. Or possibly the coffee table? Maybe on the lounge arm? However, after about half of hour of searching, the jewelery still remained lost. "Mum and Dad will kill me if they think I forgot about her birthday..." he said aloud, groaning and chucking down the cushion in his hands. "Where is it!" Seth then exclaimed, kicking the side of the lounge, and looking around. This was both frustrating, and worrying.
