"... fight so much," Drew mumbled, finishing her sentence for her. It was the same thing they always concluded after these discusssions. The problem was that neither of them could figure out how to stop. They had tried everything and nothing worked.

Arianna bit her lip. That wasn't what she was thinking. But it didn't matter. Things weren't going right between the two of them and they probably never would. They'd had their good times, but the bad seemed to far outweigh them and Arianna honestly didn't know what to do anymore. Sure, she had suggestions to try, but her suggestions in the past had never worked. Why should they work now?

Drew fell silent, physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted from everything that had transpired over the last... had it really been only twelve hours? It seemed like days.
"It felt nice to take care of you in Ticloon's office," he finally said softly. "You weren't mad at me then..."

Arianna smiled. It was a small smile, but a smile nonetheless.
"It was nice to have someone there for me," Arianna admitted quietly. She didn't know how she would have dealt with the events of the day without Drew there. The other students would not have been capable of helping her any. Even if she had trusted them. "I probably looked like a big baby, sitting on your lap."

"I didn't care," Drew answered with a shrug and a small smile. He had been quietly freaking out in the headmistress's office and it had been nice to have an anchor like that. "I'm glad you were there too," he said.

"Yeah?" Arianna found herself leaning her head against Drew's shoulder. It didn't matter that they weren't supposed to be friends anymore. She still wanted her best friend back. It didn't matter that they fought alot. They always tried to be there for each other and that's what really mattered, didn't it?
"I'm really sorry if I make you feel like a bad friend," she continued, sniffing slightly. Her hand lifted to wipe a few wet spots away from her cheeks. "I get upset over something and I don't always know how to just let it go."

Drew leaned his own head on top of hers and sighed. "I'm sorry I say stupid stuff," he mumbled. "I guess... I guess I just..." He gave another long sigh. "I feel like it's my job to watch out for you and... I guess it makes me mad when I can't."

"That's okay. I kinda get upset when people think they need to look out for me," Arianna admitted. Che had done the same (possibly a bit worse than Drew ever had) back home for a while there, but had eased up a bit when Arianna had told him how much she disliked him hanging over her all the time. "I mean, it is nice to have someone watch out for you, but..you know...sometimes you just want to do it yourself just to know you can do it."

"I know I don't need to," Drew answered quietly. He stiffled a yawn and rubbed at his eyes. "But I... I want to. I just want to make sure bad stuff doesn't happen. The problem is, I end up causing the bad stuff half the time, don't I?"

"But it balances out when I cause the bad stuff to happen the rest on the time," Arianna joked, her smile halted when she caught Drew's yawn. She was surprised she had lasted so long tonight. If she stayed awake much longer, Arianna felt she might sleep the whole day away. At this point she might not even need the potion.

"So we're even..." Drew answered, finding it quite cosy sitting next to her. Maybe he would be able to sleep a little after all. "We just have to remember that the next time we piss each other off I guess..."

"Yeah," Arianna nodded in response. It crossed her mind that only a few days ago she had been set against not talking to Drew for as long as possible, but now she felt silly for ever thinking that.
"But we're good, right?" she asked, tipping her head back to look up at Drew. "We're still friends."

"Yeah..." Drew nodded back, his expression showing worry over the fact that either of them had thought otherwise for even a moment. "I'm sorry I made you so upset. I didn't mean to. I swear," he said softly.

"I know," Arianna murmured, stifling another yawn. Why was it that she always felt like sleeping right after she and Drew had one of their make up threads? Maybe because they always happened late at night? Whatever the reason, Arianna knew this time wouldn't be any different. She was definately ready for bed.

Drew put an arm around her and pulled her closer into a half hug. He felt like they had come to an understanding and while he doubted that would be their last disagreement, he was pretty sure they could get through the next fight easier.
