"You okay?" he asked immediately as Ari seemed to trip, with some alarm. Seeing that she was fine, though, he tried to think of another question. "Oh, I don't know, that's just the one that's I guess kind of cliche. It's the most famous one, anyway."

"Yeah, I'm good," Arianna replied with a nod. She checked herself for any sore spots on her arm that might turn to bruises, but seemed to be fine.
"Well, that one I have no clue on," she admitted, returning to answer the question asked. "I mean, I can understand asking 'How does this look?' and you can answer honestly whether it looks good or not. But asking if it makes you look fat is just silly."

"Well, that's comforting," Kellen said with a small smile. "But the thing is, guys think that if they tell a girl if something doesn't look good--even if it doesn't--they'll be really hurt and get mad at us. Or if we say it looks good, yous won't believe us anyway."

"That's a problem," Arianna admitted. She didn't quite understand it, though. It had been forever since she had asked another person's opinion on how something looked on her and had to trust her own thoughts on the matter. Of course, that didn't mean it wasn't nice to hear someone, later on, telling her how fabulous a particular outfit made her look or how it brought out her eyes just perfectly. "I guess you always risk it. But then, if a girl doesn't trust your opinion, why is she even asking you?"

"Because she wants to hear she looks nice, is my guess," Kellen suggested. "Er, I mean, I don't think all girls are only searching for compliments or anything," he tried to explain immediately. "But, you know, some of them are. And some of them are just sometimes, if not all times. It's hard to tell," he fumbled.

"Sorry. I don't have an answer to that one," Arianna felt bad. She wasn't sure how to answer Kellen. Sure, it was nice to hear a compliment every so often. Anyone would agree to that. Some people just didn't know how to say thank you and leave it at that. It didn't matter if you thought you looked pretty or not, but there was always someone out there who would think you were.

Kellen shrugged. "I didn't really expect you to," he admitted. "I really wouldn't expect anyone to. It's just the way it is, I guess." As he took the last couple of steps, he sighed with relief. Nothing like arriving at their destination to end an awkward conversation. "Here, let's see if they've got what you need," he said quietly as he headed into the Hospital Wing.

"Well, since I don't do that sort of thing, it's hard to answer," Arianna continued to talk as she followed the boy into the dark Hospital Wing, past all the empty beds. She had been in here at night a few times before, but it was still weird. Especially when they weren't even supposed to be here. "Even if I don't believe when someone says I look pretty, I still like to say thank you. As far as I know, they really do think I look pretty, so I shouldn't try to tell them that they're wrong."

"That's a good attitude," Kellen said. He was a little distracted as he searched through the bottles in one of the potions storages. He tried to be quiet, silencing any clanking. Could it really have been just yesterday he was labelling the shelves in there? So much had happened.
"Let's see..." he muttered to himself quietly. He looked quietly through the sleeping potions--there were four or five different kinds--trying to remember what colour the bottle he was looking for was. "I'll find it in just a second, promise."

Arianna peered past Kellen into the cupboard. She couldn't help him much. Sure, she'd been given sleeping potions before, but she didn't know there were so many different kinds.
"Whichever one will keep bad dreams away," Arianna spoke up, shifting on her feet as Juniper purred in her arms. "Or one that will give me good dreams. There isn't one like that, is there?"

Kellen scrunched his nose a little. "Well, there are potions like that, but I don't really trust them, personally," he said skeptically. "I don't mind surpressing dreams, that seems to be okay. But changing them seems...a little too much magic inside your head, you know?
"Besides, I'm not sure they work....Aha!" he exclaimed quietly as he pulled out a small flask of maroony-purple coloured liquid. "This is what I was talking about. You probably don't even need this much, to be honest."

"Yeah, you're probably right," Arianna's nose scrunched in response. It did seem a bit too much just for a goodnight's sleep. "I've just heard that dreaming is good for you. I didn't know if it was better to go completely dreamless or, you know, to give yourself something to smile about."
"So do I take the whole thing back to the dorms?" Arianna asked, eying the potion carefully. Would they get in trouble for taking the whole thing? She didn't want to take any now. Kellen might wind up carrying her the whole way back. "Or is there a smaller container to put some in?"

"Well, we don't use that one very often," Kellen said, wondering. He wasn't quite so sure about their plan to lift potions from the hospital wing anymore. "I mean, I'm not really sure. I guess I'd say just take the whole thing, and return it first thing tomorrow?"
He was, after all, planning on leaving a note. And since Ari would probably only need a few drops from the potion, it'd be just annoying to find another container for it. Besides, who else would be needing it, or even know it was there?

"That'll work," Arianna agreed with a small nod and a smile. It was going to be so nice when she got back into Ravenclaw, up to her bed, between the covers...forgetting all about that day....Arianna was eager to get back so she could get to bed. "And hopefully I won't need any tomorrow."

"Hopefully," Kellen agreed. He scanned the Hospital Wing until he found some parchment on one of the shelves and wrote a quick note to Nurse Johnson explaining everything.
"There," he said quietly. "And I'll be back first thing in the morning to explain it," he added, ready to go. "Oh, before I forget, only take it just before you plan to go to sleep. It works pretty quickly. I'd suggest already being in bed, in fact."
