It was bad enough that they were stuck on the castle grounds, but the Ministry officials hanging around were starting to get on Drew's last nerve. He found refuge in the Common room, but now there was nothing to do. Charlie had managed to snag his Quidditch Quarterly and the new issue wasn't due out for another week. No one else seemed to be around to even start a game of exploding snap. He really didnt' want to have to resort to studying.
With a groan, he leaned his head back on the sofa and looked up at the ceiling, wondering exactly how high the roof was. Gauging by the walls, he figured about thirty feet, but from that particular angle, one couldn't be sure. It was about 15 feet to the chandalear and from there, he might get a better idea.
Next thing he knew he had cleared the furniture to the edges of the room and was pushing the two desks towards the center, thinking they would make the sturdiest base.

((Aha! You should have waited a bit longer))
"What are you doing?" Lily asked curiously coming down from the steps. She had been cooped up in the dorms, not exactly hiding from Drew, but not putting herself out there either. Oh well, she had to face him sometime. "And can I help?"

{for what? ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) } "Nothing," Drew answered, a little surprised she had been in the dorms and even more surprised that she was speaking to him. Not that he was going out of his way to talk to her, but still, he felt as if she were avoiding him.

"Are we climbing again?" Arianna peered out from her spot in the corner. She had watched Drew move the desks and remembered only one time when he had done so before. Arianna had wanted to join him then, but never got the chance.

{yes you did ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) If I remember correctly we got into a huge fight over it ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) } "Maybe," Drew answered as he pushed the couch back towards the center and hoisted it up onto the desks. He hadn't actually decided if he was going to climb or not. that would depend on how sturdy his tower was.

((Ari and Lily and Drew in one thread might spell a lot of trouble))
"You look as if you're building a tower to the ceilling," Lily said. "Or somewhere." She was vaguely reminded of Babel, where they had tried to build a tower to God and ended up speaking different languages.

((Mind if I join?))
Will was coming down from the dorms, only to find a few of his housemates building something. He didn't know what it was, but Will was a little scared to find out. "What in the name of Merlin are you doing?" Will asked from the bottom of the stairs, scared to enter the Common Room itself.

{not me ;D }
"Hey Ari, push that other sofa over here, will you?" Drew asked, as he positioned the first on on top of his base. He had almost asked William, knowing that as a guy he'd be stronger, but Ari understood him better and Will looked scared to set foot into the main room. Besides, it was just pushing a sofa. It wasn't as if he was asking the diminutive girl to lift anything.

"Um...yeah," Arianna set her book aside. Standing and stretching a bit, she wandered to the edge of the sofa and shoved it, hard as she could, to where Drew was gathering his materials. She felt a bit iffy about this, but didn't think he could get it anything like the tower he and Reina had built before.
"Just...make sure it's sturdy before you climb it, okay?" there was no way she wanted to relive that moment again. "If it sways like that other one...."

"It won't be," Drew assured her as he jumped down to lift the edge of the sofa up and onto the desks. He hopped back up to pull and position the couch next to the other one, forming the next tier. "This one won't need to be as tall first of all and the base is already stronger so it won't tilt as much."

"Okay," Arianna smiled with some satisfaction. Drew was right. This one certainly looked much sturdier than the other had. Of course, he wasn't trusting Reina to help him build this time.
