Carter was sitting crossed-legged on his bed reading. Actually, more specifically he was reading a study written by a wizard named Kylion Golman. So far the beginning was quite boring, but he hoped it would pick up in the soon. He began to smooth down his messy brown without realizing he was doing it. He breathed a deep sigh as Golman continued to rant about wizards living in 15th century society.
As he read on, Carter's mind began to waver as he thought about what it was like living in the 1400's. It couldn't have been as fun as it is now. He stopped smoothing down his hair, and started getting back into the book. Okay, now we're getting interesting .

Drew was making sure to spend as much time as he could before classes started up again. He had convinced his parents into letting him bring his snowboard back to school and while there weren't any really decent mountains, he coudl usually find a good sized hill to get some practice in.
His thoughts were sidetracked for a moment when he saw a new boy... another little guy... sitting on one of the beds.
"Hey," Drew called over friendly-like before diving under his bed to retrieve his snow board and boots.

Carter looked up from his book as he heard someone say something. Apparantly while he had been reading someone else had entered the room. He tried to recollect what was said, and then he answered. "Hey yourself." Carter was silent for a moment than went on. "Fancy seeing you here. Your the first person who's come into the room all day. I just figured everyone was home for the holidays."

"Just got back yesterday," Drew answered as he pulled out his snowboarding stuff. He and his sister could have stayed longer, but their mother insisted she would be fine. He left his board on the floor between the beds and went over to greet the kid properly. "Drew Thornton. Nice to meet you," he said, holding his hand out to the other boy.

Carter grabbed Drew's hhand and started pumping it up and down. "Carter Bristow," he said letting go of the other kid's hand. "Going somewhere?" he asked pointing to the board the Drew had placed between the beds. He had only gone snowboarding once when his uncle had taken him and his cousins to Switzerland for a winter when he was nine.
He hadn't been that good. In fact after about forty minutes of trying to get it right, he gave up and went back to the lodge to read a book instead.

"Thought I'd try to find some decent hills," Drew answered, pulling his jacket out of his trunk. "Scotland aint no Mammoth, but it'll do for the time being.
"So... what year are you? First? Second? You have any problems getting into the dorm?" Drew and Hiro had set up an elaborate security system to keep anything bigger than a house elf out of the boy's dorms, and while he had yet to actually meet the Littledude, Drew had already heard of one firstie who had to resort to sleeping on the couch while the older boys were gone.

Carter sat and watched Drew move about the room, and started to comb his hair with his fingers. "I'm a second year, and if your referring to those traps when I tried to enter then yes. I did have trouble, but I had all morning to figure it out, and now I'm in. I don't think I have what it takes to get back out though."

"Wait... you actually got in? Without another guy telling you how to get past?" Drew answered, looking up sharply. Someone had obviously not set them correctly on leaving the room... probably one of the younger boys. Drew would have to hunt the culprit down and... teach him better.

"Well...yeah. It was a long and difficlut process, but I got in. I couldn't have done it without this," said Carter taking his wand out of his back pocket and putting on the bed in front of him. Then he gave Drew a weird look, "You wouldn't happen to know who set them and why would you? Was it some kind of practical joke? You know, prank the new kid?" Carter looked at Drew and waited to see what kind of answer he would give.

Drew grumbled to himself, already going down the list of suspects. It had to be a younger boy. All of the older ones had gone home for the holidays. The good news was that even set improperly, they had been tough to get through, but still...
"Heck, yeah. I set them up... me and Hiro," he answered, clearly angry at whoever had broken the code they had carefully set up. "The traps are to keep the girls out mostly, but really, anyone who's not a Ravenboy. You showed up at a bad time. No one was here to give you orientation is all."

Carter thought this over in his head for a while and instantly his hand went to his head and started to rub down his hair. "Well, I suppose I could see why you would be mad. I didn't even know girls were allowed in here."
Carter liked girls and all, but he didn't really want them coming in to the room while he was trying to read or something. Then he thought of something else Drew mentioned. "Who is Hiro exactly?"

"They aren't, but that doesn't stop them," Drew answered. He could have easily gone on about being woken up in the middle of the night, being subject to pranking, occasional 'borrowing', the unfairness of being unable to get into the girls room ... but he didn't.
"Hiro's the other prefect. We're kind of in charge," Drew told him, hoping that his words didn't get back to Kellen.

Samuel walked in, with freedom until last time he almost got ALL BLUE. He came in to nestle in and happen to see Drew that he never met and a unfamiliar person also he didn't met, he walked to them and was eager to meet the new person.
"Hey...I am Samuel, and appartenly I was the one who almost got blue, and learned about the traps when I heard something snap when I barley opened the door, anyways I'm a first year, " he then looked at Drew, "You must be a....sixth year?" he guessed since he saw his was pretty tall. To Samuel, he would think people like Drew of their tallness be a bully, but he never met Drew so how would he know if he is a bully or not.
"And...I guess your a first or second year?" he said to Carter, thinking he was a first year but in his mind he thought he was a second year.

"Dang... I've gotta talk to Raynor about not letting Littledudes in during breaks," Drew grumbled, shaking his head... as if he could tell the Deputy anything of the sort.
"Drew Thornton, nice to meet you," he answered, grinning at the youngest boy. "I'm a fourth year. My sister's a sixth year."

"Hi," he put a fake smile. He wanted to know if he was a bully, since the times at his old school. "Your not a big bully are you, with big fat slobs with their wands making jokes?" he asked in a fast way, thinking Drew did not hear him.
He hoped the Sorting Hat had put him in a great house, and not some mean prefects like some of he had heard in Slytherin.
