Now it was his turn to be hurt.
"You're calling me a liar?" he asked, mostly surprised, but also a little wounded by the alligation. "Fine, you want to know what's wrong? I'll tell you what's wrong! It's the fact that someone who claims to be my friend keeps bugging me to tell her what's wrong when NOTHING IS!"

"Something was wrong before I said that," Lily said. "You just used me too cover up whatever it was. Good night Drew. I hope whatever it is that's bothering you just gets worse because you deserve it you really do. I hate your guts right now." She started walking towards the steps, a little faster. She tripped once over a textbook someone left on the floor, but ignored the rug burn on her knees and her stubbed toe and just kept going. If he didn't want to talk to her so be it.

"Yeah, well, I love you too..." Drew spat back at her before turning back to the fire and glaring into the flames. Her words hurt, but he wasn't going to let her know it.
He gave a short series of sniffs and bit his lip.. After Lily's original news, he had been starting to think he might be able to get back to sleep again... Now, he knew it wasn't going to happen tonight.

Lily stopped and sat on the steps, nursing her sore toe. She couldn't go to bed now and she couldn't be up there. It already felt like an attack sleeping up there, felt uninviting. If she had anywhere else to sleep she wouldn't sleep up there. She felt awful. She couldn't stand fighting with Drew. Was this what friends were supposed to be like? Were they supposed to fight all the time? Of course she didn't hate Drew's guts. She was just so mad and frustrated at him. She never meant too say something so mean. And his words stung too like a knife cut straight through her heart. She tried to keep from crying, but yet that seemed the only thing she could do. At least she was a silent crier, she didn't want to let Drew know she was up. she gave a loud hacking cough, she couldn't stifle it very much. So much for that, she thought. She leaned her head on the side of the stairwell. She was beginning to think about Germany. There she had been outcasted, but maybe that had been for the better. She had never known a worse pain then when she fought with her friends (namely Drew). At least then she didn't have any friends to hurt her.
((Lol, Lily thinks almost as much as me!))

Drew heard Lily coughing from the stairwell and while a part of him was glad he wasn't going to be the only one spending a sleepless night in the common room, a bigger part was feeling guilty over being the cause. "Go to bed Lily," he told her again. "you're just going to get yourself sick again if you stay there."

Lily fidgeted with the hem of her pajama shirt. It was purple. "It's not like I'd sleep," Lily said quietly. "And I always feel so suffocated up there. If I'm not going to fall asleep, I'd rather stay here where it's much more open instead of up there." She wouldn't admit to it, but she rather didn't like small spaces, especially when she knew there were other people around. That only made them feel smaller.

"The hallway is open?" Drew answered back. "At least come down here by the fire then. If you don't want me around, I'll go up to bed." He wasn't sure what he'd do when he got up there, but it would keep Lily out of the drafty stairwell. He grabbed his blanket and made his way to the stairs.

Lily stood up and made her way to a chair. She hadn't even thought to bring a blanket down. She pulled her knees up to her chest and stared into the fire. She wrestled back and forth with it in her mind. Finally she came to a decision. "No," she said quietly. "Don't go."

"Why not?" Drew grumbled from the bottom of the staircase. "You're just going to keep bugging me to tell you what's wrong. I don't even get why you thing there's something wrong to begin with..."

"I'm not," Lily said. "I promise. I was just concerned. I was just trying to help. I believe you know." So maybe that was only half the truth - she wasn't entirely convinced he was alright yet, but she wasn't going to bring it up anymore. His friendship was more important to her than that.

"No, you don't," Drew answered back, turning to look at her through narrowed eyes. He had come down here in a bad mood, had miraculously managed to get into a good mood, and was now back to being ticked off.

"Oh?" Lily asked. "So it's alright for you to think I'm not telling the truth and I'm not allowed to think you're not telling the truth? Is that fair? You're assuming just as much as I did." There she was, back on the arguementitive side again. Why couldn't she have just settled for I promise I wouldn't, why did she have to add she belived him?

He sighed and walked over to the chair she was sitting in. Without a word, he took the blanket from around his shoulders and placed it on her. With another sigh, he turned and headed back to the stairs. "Good night, Lily..."
He was in no mood to argue any more and had another blanket upstairs.

"Good night Drew," Lily said quietly wrapping the blanket around herself. She was quiet for a bit, she didn't even know if he would still hear her, but she had to tell him anyways. "I'm sorry Drew. For everything. I don't really hate your guts, I just get mad at you sometimes." She rambled on a bit to herself.

"You and the rest of the world," Drew answered quietly, as he slowly climbed the stairs to the boy's dorm.
