Merlin, what a mess.
New Years Eve. It came around every year, and generally left the same impact on those who celebrated it. Matty usually spend it at home or the Festival of Yule, but this year had been quite different. Due to the current Dragon Pox Epidemic, everyone had been forbid to go home for the holiday season. This included Christmas, much to everyone dismay. Matty had coped okay, but she had dreadfully missed her dad, step mum and step brother. Their first Christmas all together hadn't in fact been "all together" due to the fact that the youngest Wentworth wasn't even allowed to go home. Over the past month Matty had suffered from the Pox, just as many others at Hogwarts had. But to wards the end of the past week, she had seemed to get better. The forming scabs were clearing up, and her fever had died down allot. Though she was still sick, Matty had enjoyed her Christmas and New year more so than others.
Getting back on track, the results of New Year were dreadful. The teenager, in her good-feeling state, had joined a group of girls and boys from her house who were throwing a mini New Years Eve party. They were all almost cured from the Pox, and so the group of six made a good little party. They had originally started off in the Common Room, but eventually the four girls had made their way up to the Fifth Year dorms. A few others joined them in the festivities as they drank butter beer, ate sweets, told funny stories and gossiped. Matty had really enjoyed the night, as they had put a fair amount of effort into it, such as balloons, streamers, a banner and such. The group of teenagers had stayed up well after midnight, into the early hours of the morning. Luckily, New Years day was free of classes, so the Hufflepuff slept in.
Waking up at about 10:00, Matty groaned as a headache throbbed in her head. Maybe she shouldn't have partied as normal quite yet... The teenager rubbed her eyes of sleep, before sitting up in bed. Her scabs were now only red blotches, and the spots were very faint now. Matty issues a cough, before yawing. Her green eyes adjusted to the light, before she gasped slightly. Her dorm was a mess. A total and utter pigsty. The Banner had fallen, the streamers were shredded, the balloons deflated, as strewn across the floor. Butter Beer bottles laid here and there, and lollies and wrappers alike were tossed everywhere. The room smelt oddly of sweet rose and musk, too. The Quidditch Captain put a hand to her head, before swinging out of bed. Still dressed in her black silk long pajama pants and red singlet, the girl groaned again, looking around at the mess.
"I am not cleaning this up on my own." she said allowed, looking around at her sleeping Badgerettes.
