The third years were continuing their work on common pets and today's lesson would be held inside due to the active nature of the subjects. The desks in the room were pushed towards the walls and in the centre of the room, a large circular pen was set up. Inside a number of puppies and kittens were roamiing, looking for mischief to get into.
The professor, meanwhile was nearby, in the back room doing a quick inventory of the feed supply.

Anna walked in to find the professor was not inside. However, after taking a look in the back she found her checking on whatever was back there. Aparently, she was the first person there, which is something she hated because she had no one to talk to or be around. She stood there leaning against the wall waiting for more people to arrive.

Lauren entered the classroom. She honestly thought her first class would be outside, or she hoped. She hoped this because when you were outside, it seemed like there was an air of freedom that was present, as oposed to being locked up in a classroom. She walked in, somewhat depressed, yet that quickly faded. Not even bothering with Anna, a gasp came to her lips.
"Oh my goodness," she said. Lauren had a soft spot her little cuddly animals. "Puppies and kittens?" Lauren said. She'd take a cute puppy or kitten over a fire salamander, anyday. Lauren rushed to the middle of the room and looked at the pets. That's what they were, pets. Why in Merlins name are we studying pets? She didn't mind though.

"Not just any puppies and kittens," Becca corrected as she came in from the back room. She was pleased to see that neither girl had actually climbed into the pen yet. Something many students tended to do.
"Feel free to pick them up if you'd like," she instructed as the puppies yapped at the girls and wagged their oddly shaped tails. "Merlin knows they need more human contact than I can provide."

Melody walked shyly into the Magizoology classroom, first noticing the pen full of positivily cute puppies and kitties. She said silently to herself, looking fondly at them, "They are so cute..." Grinning a rare grin, she quickly unwrapped her scarf and took off her jacket. She didn't care if she got watched, for she loved animals just as much as the forest which was quite far-stretched. Before heading over to the pen, she wrapped them both around a chair.
Clambering over the pen, she met face to face with an adorable cat with pale blue eyes. Melody stuck her left hand into the cage as if waiting for any of them to smell it...

Anna walked over to the pen a took a look at the puppies and kitties in it. Climbing over the pen, she looked around until she picked up a little puppy that had a brown spot on it's white fur. "These are so cute!" she smiled.

Lauren picked up the nearest puppy to her. This puppy, more shyer than the other rambunxious bunch, was a soft chocolate brown. He, or she, trembled in Lauren's hands. He, or she, was obviously frightened. She noticed its uncomfort, so she set it back down. It seemed in better companionship with the other puppies and kittens.
"Professor, why are we studying puppies and kittens?" She asked. First they had potions that looked like they were going on fiesta, now they pppies and kittens for a lesson. Not just any puppies and kittens, the professor had stated. Lauren wondered what she meant.

Anna was liked the little puppy that she was holding in her arms. However, she began to wonder on what the professor said to them about not being real puppies and kittens. If they weren't, then what were they? She looked at the professor to see what she would do next.

Dan stood next to the door, leaning against the wall as he watched the girls picking up the puppies and holding them. He grinned slightly and set his bag down where he stood. Moving down next to the pen Dan picked up what looked like the runt of the litter. The black and brown spotted puppt nuzzled Dan's hand and started to move as if looking for a comfortable position to fall asleep in. The little puppy then looked a little more lively as Dan held it in his arms.
It began to start crawling all over the place. He grinned even wider when the puppy tried to bark, but the only noise that came from the pup was a squeak. " How old are they? " He asked the Professor or anyone who might know.

Lauren picked up a kitten, seeing as the others favored the puppies. Though, she couldn't blame them, they were begging for attention. Yet, each kitten had its own certain type of bounce, as some would put it. Lauren glance over at Dan. How old are they? He asked. Lauren look at the tiny cretue she was holding, or trying to, and the other animals around her.
"Not very, by what I can tell. Young to still have their curiosity," she said, the last part more to himself. Lauren knew that when dogs and cats became, well, dogs and cats they had a better sense of knowledge. This meaning that they were cautious around things where they hould be cautious, they were smarter. But this bunch was ready to explore.

"So no one is familiar with these particular creatures?" Becca asked, raising an eyebrow at the class. She was sure the forked tails would have at very least given the canine breed away. "We have here crup pups and kneezle kits. Closely related to their non-magical counterparts and cared for in the same way, but how do they differ?".

Anna decided to give it a go. She was pretty sure she heard about crups but, she wasn't so sure on kneezles. "Don't crups like wizard but hate muggles and kneezles don't like imposters?" she wasn't sure it was completly accurate but at least she tried. Now she waited to see what to professor had to say.

Lauren looked at the backside of the animals. Of course, she told herself. Lauren's aunt and uncle had a whole little of kneezles and barn full of crups, atleast that's how it seemed. She could be exxagerating, since she hadn't been there since she was littler, much littler. She remembered that the crups hated to go near Lauren's father, but she never inquired as to why.

"Let's start with the physical characteristics," Becca said, picking up one of the puppies. "You'll notice the forked tail of the crup, which is its most distinguishing characteristics. Wizards who own crups must obtain special licences and remove its tail with a simple and painless severing charm, making it virtually indistinguishable from a muggle terrier."
