" As you should, " Dean said with a light laugh and a grin. The grin, however, was short lived as Keag brought up Natalie. Ugh... He thought to himself and decided not to prop himself up and look back at her. That would probably only make it harder for him. " Uh, yeah. Natalie's pretty cool. We, er, met in the common room and... she's interesting. " He said, not exactly wanting to go into the details of his and Natalie's first meeting with Keagan. Dean felt it would be stupid to tell her... His brow furrowed slightly as he thought silently, his hands still messing around with the grass. (( hm.. I love the work inkling. it's helarious. ))

Keagan's face took on a thoughtful expression as Dean continued to look up at the sky and fiddle with the grass. "There's that word interesting again," she replied, her smile a tad bit sad. "Though I think I saw a bit of what you mean in that one Transfiguration class." That first class of the year had been a big hullabaloo, but the classes since then had been more mild, though nothing was mild with a professor like Bloxam. "Now that I think about it, you two seemed pretty cozy in class." ((I like it ))

It was after Keag mentioned him being cozy with Natalie that Dean propped himself up on his elbow, looking at her. " You know how you said you had some things to work out before anything happens? Me, too... " He said softly, unsure of where he and Natalie stood at the moment. Dean smiled and placed a stray behind her ear. He knew that if he didn't see how things were with Natalie and end them, he would have a chance with Keag. Or so he thought. He was confused at that point.

Keag smiled a little brighter for a moment when Dean mimicked her position, but it faded back to the sad again soon after. She found herself desperately wanting to know more about what had gone on between Dean and Natalie, yet also wanting to leave it be so she wouldn't have to deal with the knowledge. She nodded her head in reply to his comment, and when he (tucked her hair?) behind her ear, she leaned her head slightly into his touch, nodding again.

( yeah.. my bad lol )
Dean smiled a little wistfully as Keagan leaned into his touch, his hand now caressing her cheek somewhat as she did so. He ran his thumb across her cheek before leaning towards her, glancing briefly up to her eyes then kissing her. He didn't really know if that was what she had wanted, but... It was a bit late to change it now, he thought to himself as he pulled away a few seconds later. He dropped his hand from her face, remembering what Keag had said earlier. " Sorry, " He said, his eyes dropping once again.

The leaning of her head had been reflex, but she didn't regret it. Dean's hand was warm on her cheek, and she relished the somewhat intimate touch. And then he kissed her. The way she returned the kiss was reflex, too. She almost forgot the details of the situation. Almost. It was probably a good thing that it ended quickly, as Keagan's reaction really could have gone either way. Its short duration helped her to not freak herself out.
All at once, his touch was gone, and Keag's eyes, which had fallen shut slightly, opened quickly. She cringed when he apologized, though she understood why he had. "Yeah...," she began, then glanced away herself. "You shouldn't have done that." Those were the words she spoke, but they weren't criticizing words, and they weren't reprimanding him; not the way she said them. It sounded almost as if she was forcing them...The fact that that was true scared her.

(( I resisted posting for a while... but I'm rather impatient, I must say... lol ))
Once Dean had pulled away, he knew that it had been stupid of him. He sighed inwardly and rolled onto his back once again, feeling stupid and confused, two feelings he didn't exactly appreciate. " I know, " He said, " I know. " He echoed himself, if only to make himself believe that it was wrong of him. Dean wondered if Keag regretted it at all but didn't asked. " I feel stupid, " He voiced to Keag, sending a glance her way from where he was currently laying.

Keagan readjusted her position as well, sitting up and hugging both her legs to her. She place her cheek upon her knee and looked over to Dean, her gaze rather constant with him looking away. She shook her head as he spoke. She wanted to think it wrong of him, but somehow she couldn't. However, voicing that aloud would mess with her more than she wanted to allow. She had to say one thing, though, as she caught his glance. "Don't."

Dean blinked hard from behind his glasses, he caught her gaze again, although she looked sideways from his position and hers. When she told him not to feel stupid it didn't really help, so he explained, " I just... I didn't really thnk. Sorry. " He repeated again. Then Dean turned his head, now looking at Keag... the right way as opposed to sideways. " Actually, I'm not. I don't think I should be, Keagan. " He said a little hurriedly. It was how he felt, he didn't know why he should feel sorry, so he didn't.

"Don't. Don't apologize," Keag muttered, with more force. When he turned his head fully, Keag could feel his words before he said them. "You shouldn't have to be. It's not a choice I can fault you for. But you know...I just...can't. I can't." A huge part of her wished she could, but it just wouldn't be right. The only person she could blame for that was herself. Well, and Dan, but that was a given.

Dean felt a little mixed up, not quite sure how he should feel but wanting completely to feel something else... It was kind of new to him. He sat up and brought his knees to his chest, closing his eyes and leaning his head on them. He sighed slightly as he opened his eyes and looked at Keag. " I know you can't. I just wish you could... " He trailed off slightly and stood up. " I think I should go. " He said, a slight frown on his face.

"Me too," Keag said very quietly, closing her eyes tight as he stood. "Alright," she responded sadly, nodding slightly. The Gryffindor didn't feel like she was in any position to argue with him, to ask him to say, especially after what had just happened; she felt terrible, and she could understand completely that Dean might want to be alone now. Or, at the very least, anywhere but with her. 'Probably thinks he's avoiding awkwardness,' she thought with melancholy.

" I, uh, want to see you again. When... everything's good... " He trailed off again, leaving the sentence unfinished. " 'Bye Keag. " He said, and even though he was feeling a little miserable, he smiled as he said her name and walked away, his back to her. He hoped she would be ok, but now he just needed time to think.
Stuffing his hands into his pockets, Dean sighed.

Though the sentence remained unfinished, Keagan knew what he meant. She didn't respond, but she hoped that he knew that she felt the same way. "'Bye," she replied in a quiet, flat tone after opening her eyes and watching him retreat. She, too, needed time to think. If she knew just how much time she'd actually need, Keag would have been surprised, but that was for the future to bring.
Little did either of them know, Keag sighed at the same time Dean did.
