"Well, that's a bummer," Drew answered. Of course he had known that. He had just been hoping there had been a car hiding somewhere that he hadn't seen. "So I guess it's next summer at my place then, right?" he finished with a smile.

"Definately," Arianna replied with a quick smile and a short nod. "It'll be my last summer before graduating, so I think we should make it a good one. What else can we do?"

"I don't know. What do you want to do?" he asked. She certainly knew his hometown better than he knew hers. And it wasn't like he could tell her they would do the same things they had done last time she was over. Last time he had been grounded all summer.

"I dunno," Arianna replied with a small shrug. She might have to think about it. Last summer before she graduated, what else was she supposed to do?
"Find a boyfriend?" she teased, poking Drew in the side. "But you don't want to help me with that."

"More like you won't let me help with that," Drew answered back with a smirk. Ari had been complaining for years that he was too critical of her boyfriends. And for the most part, he had been pretty good at not saying he had told her so. {sorry }

Arianna gave a small shrug. She hadn't had much luck with boys anyway. How would having Drew's oppinion of what was best for her help in anyway? Of course, she'd really like a guy who could get along with her friends and who wouldn't suddenly dump her with some lame excuse.
"I just don't have your luck," she commented, ducking down to grab another rock.

Drew shrugged back, not sure how to respond to that. He knew he was lucky. Lucky to have met such an amazing girl. Lucky to be going out with the same girl for three years. Lucky she liked him as much as he liked her.
No, loved. He loved her.
And that made him feel the luckiest of all.

Aw, great. Arianna had gone and gotten herself upset. She knew it was best not to talk of relationships with Drew. It only reminded her of how freakingly stupid she was when it came to them. It wasn't like Drew even cared. Arianna could reject every guy that came her way, whether good or bad, and Drew would probably be happier for her than if she'd actually accepted a date.
Frowning down at the rock in her hands, Arianna's pictured the face of every guy she had ever liked on its surface. Her face slowly turned to a glare before she turned to the water and chucked the stone as far as she could.

Drew had felt the change in her mood and jumped slightly when she suddenly chucked the rock into the lake. The fact that she was upset was coming in loud and clear.
"That wasn't me, was it?" he asked, frowning at her. That rock sure as heck had been someone.

Arianna looked up at Drew, her brows creased in confusion.
"No," she replied, snorting as though it were the most rediculous thing for him to think. Yes, Drew's face did show for a brief moment, but she felt he'd more than proved he wasn't just another guy who was out to hurt her. He didn't deserve to be on that rock like the others did.

"You're sure?" Drew asked carefully, still concerned. He had a nasty habit of saying or doing the wrong thing without even knowing and just wanted to make sure this wasn't one of those times.

"Yeah," Arianna replied, letting out a small sigh. She turned her eyes to the ground and kicked at the pebbles beneath her feet. "I just wish I could find a guy like you who wasn't already taken. Aw, but you don't want to hear this...."

"I'll listen," he answered back, still keeping the caution in his voice and not quite looking at her. Yeah, these conversations hadn't always worked out in the past, but he was going to do his best to keep his attitude under control.

Arianna lifted her eyes now to the boy, her eyebrows raised slightly. She could remember the last time they had talked about her troubles with guys. No, she couldn't remember every little detail, but she distinctly remembered something about it all being her fault and how she had bad taste in guys. Arianna definately didn't want to hear that now anymore than she had wanted to hear it then.

Drew was lucky he couldn't read thoughts otherwise he probably would have said something in response that would have ended up making them both upset. Instead, he just looked at her raised eyebrow with a puzzled look. "What? I said I'd listen."
