Now it was time for what would probably surmount to be his second happiest class of the day. The seventh years, graduating and moving on into the world, and perhaps some of them, one of them into something relating to the botanical field. He could only hope, perhaps talk to a couple of them around the end of the year sometime.
He figured he'd start the year off with bang, or rather an odor depending on who all showed. All he needed was one volunteer for a demonstration, it wasn't like the effects weren't reversible, they would just be bothersome for awhile. If need be he could always do it himself, but he wanted to avoid that for some reason or another.
The seventh years would find smocks and goggles, much to their surprise, and possibly distaste but it couldn't be helped. After the murder last year the Ministry had been enforcing just about every notion of safety they could get their hands on.
The seventh years would find their professor surprisingly absent for the moment, the first lesson of the day for him not to be on time for. Oh well, they would make due,a s they had before in previous years.

It was a lovely day outsde and while Allegra would have much rather spent the afternoon outdoors, the next best place was, of course, the green houses. Herbology wasn't exactly her favorite subject, but sitting in the greenhouses surrounded by the plants and soil kind of gave her a sense of pleasure. It was as close to outside one could get while still saying inside.
As usual she was one of the first... the first. She took her seat and started to get her supplies ready as she waited for the others. They would come. They always did.

Reina walked into the greenhouses and was about to walk out when she noticed it was just Allegra and not Prof. Shaw. Reina was conflicted. She felt newfound respect for the man, but the subject was just so boring. Reina sighed and walked inside choosing a seat in the front, a surprise, and actually looking interested, another surprise. She pulled out her supplies and waited, more surprise.

It was a lovely day alright -for those who had nothing to do. Daniel himself was beginning to wish that he had failed this OWL so he didn't have to come anymore. It wasn't the fact he loathed the subject, it was the fact he wanted, needed more time. He was in an utter sense of blitz with all of the responsibility dumped upon him and found little time to himself. Giving a soft sigh, he walked into the classroom first noticing the teacher was absent for the time being.
The second thing he noticed was the smocks and goggles. He gave a quick mouthed, 'No bloody way' and a shake of his head. God. Where was Hogwarts going. There couldn't be possibly anything that required that much safety procautions. They hadn't worn anything spectacular with anything else last year, why should that be any different this year. He sighed to himself as he took a seat surprisingly close to the others. Close enough to listen in, yet far enough to not speak.

Kayden entered the classroom, somewhat eager for the class. She did not have many to take that year, and she was generally left with many gaps of time in her day. Being in a classroom was both good and bad to fill some of that time; the good was that she was making something of herself, basically learning which she had come to the school to do. The bad, however, was the homework and the fact that seventh year classes were certainly going to be the toughest.
She took a seat, and found the smocks and goggles. Kayden rolled her eyes. Honestly, they weren't going to help. If it was magical something they were dealing with, no muggle devise of the smock and goggles would protect against that. There was also no way in bloody hell she was going to wear them.

Though he still struggled, Kellen had been doing much better in Herbology under the tutelage of Professor Shaw. Of course, it helped having any steady professor in a subject, but his renewed determination in Herbology didn't hurt.
Of course, this was Seventh Year now, and if there was one NEWT that was really, truly worrying Kellen, this was it. Still, he greeted the professor with a cheery "Hello, Prof. Shaw!" and didn't even complain about the goggles and smock they all had to wear.

"Mr. McCrea, I do hope that was a warm up greeting as I've only just arrived." Robert announced with a small chuckle from the doorway. Half his class present and accounted for before he could even get to the greenhouse, a fine way to start off the year indeed. The topic of the day would be one they'd probably enjoy, minus the defensive mechanism of the target subject. But, that was why the precautions.
However regarldess of the facade he successfully had in place at the moment he was most concerned now for his teaching position. During the class break Robert had stopped by Armando's office per his request to find himself 'under investigation' and that he would probably be suspended of his duties for the second quarter. Merlin that Cody Thorne could rot if he thought he was incompetent as a teacher. The students could attest to that quite easily.

Kellen felt a little embarrassed as he looked back over everything and realized he'd misread the class's beginning. Ah, well, no real harm done. "Well, here's the real one, then," he said, still cheerful. "Hello, Prof. Shaw!"
He placed the pair of goggles on his head, though it amused him perhaps more than it should that leaving them atop his forhead made it look like he had an extra pair of eyes. Fortunately, he kept this amusement to himself as he realized it would make him look like something of a really, really big nerd.

Allegra looked over at Kellen and bit back her giggles, first at his entrance and then at his appearance.
"Quite dashing, Mr. McCrea," she told him, trying her best to be serious.

Kellen made an exaggerated bow, saying "Well, I live to impress," before breaking into a wide grin. He pointed to the goggles on his head. "It really is a good look then, isn't it. I think I should wear them to every class, don't you?"

"Oh defintely," she agreed, putting her own goggles so that they sat on top, more like she would wear a headband. She just hoped her hair wasn't sticking up funny. "It gives you that bug-like quality that all of the girls are after, you know," she told him

Kellen smirked for a minute. "All the girls are after a bug-like quality in boys? Maybe we should talk to all the girls about that," he laughed before finally taking the goggles off and rubbing his forehead a bit to make sure they didn't leave an impression on his skin.

"It depends what bug of course," Allegra answered, giving a small smile at the red marks on his forehead. Then she did the very thing she knew Kellen would have done had he been in her situation.
She filled up two lines of meaningless drivel in order to make her post long enough.

"Good day to you too Mr. McCrea, good day to all of you. I trust you all had, decent, summers and since you're all still here I'll also assume they were safe ones. So, yes, anyways. Welcome back to another year, your final year of Herbology, N.E.W.T's and all. So, lets get started shall we?" Robert questioned rehetitorically as he glanced at the door briefly.
The man was still a bit rattled by the Ministry appearance during his O.W.L. class, he was actually expecting them to show up for this one. "Right then...your a bright enough bunch to be in this group so, I'll assume you already have figured out the reasons for the protective clothing." He paused. "Mimbulus Mimbletonia. A rather rare plant found in the Middle East, more commonly so being Iraq and Syria. Being a relative of just about every known cacti they prefer the drier climate and canlive off of very little water." The botanist lectured as he strode to the back of the room after donning goggle himself and returned with the grey cacti like plant.

Allegra pulled a smock on and lowered the goggles over her eyes. She knew they hadn't really started the practical part of the lesson yet, and she knew she looked ridiculous, but she really didn't want to get stinksap on herself.
She glanced over at Kellen and struck a quick glamour pose before pushing her goggles back up and turning back to her notes.
