Devin paced his office quietly. It wasn't as it once was, though the downgrade wasn't as bad as his appearance. In place of a pristine office, was a more regular looking one. On his desk instead of perfect stacks, were spread out notes, and maps of the grounds. Even on one wall, sat a map circled in spots that were weak in the wards. But it was still generally nice looking. His books still sat in their rows, the devices still worked, twirling and letting out soft puffs of smoke, and all his awards were normal, except one, which was slightly off. But none of those mattered right now, no he had more important things to worry about, most importantly his upcoming meeting with one young student.
Felicity Hjort seemed like the perfect candidate for prefect last semester. He knew she had had a tough time, especially with what had happened during the take over. But she had proven herself to Brady, and proven herself brave with her choice to stay at the school. He knew overall she was a nice girl, and he figured she was really a good role model for the younger students. But that was where the trouble began. At the end of the last year, she lost a total of 50 points from Gryffindor, quite the large tole for one event.
But still he gave her the badge, honestly hoping it would help her in some way. He had wished that she would see herself not as a target, like she was at the terrible events, but maybe as a smart student, and even a leader. It hadn't seemed to work, as she had already lost 150 points, and had another incident with a teacher. Now had it been just any event, he probably would have taken away the badge immediatly, but it wasn't just any incident. Rumor had spread about what had happened, so he decided it was time to hear her story. Maybe then he could even aid her, like a head of house should. So now checking his watch he headed for his seat. He massaged his weary eyes preparing himself. This could go two ways, and he was afraid he would have the energy if it went the wrong way. It was left now to waiting, a knock would come soon and it would begin.

A letter of request. At breakfast she'd been sitting peacefully, minding her own business when an owl swooped down over her that she didn't recognize. It was neither Hermon nor Dustan, and she didn't even recognize the handwriting. It was the signature, the sign off at the end that sent her nerves on edge though. Brady wanted to see her in his office? What had she done? All of last term she'd gotten into a ton of trouble and not once did anyone want to see her in their offices, not even van Aller had requested to see her after taking the one hundred and fifty points because she was being disrespectful to the Headmistress. And what kind of disrespect had Felicity shown? She wanted a question answered an no one was stepping up to plate to answer it for her.
So why now was her presence being requested with her Head of House?
All day worry actually ebbed itself at the blonde, what had she done that she was being requested to see Brady? Or had she done something? What if he decided it'd been a terrible mistake giving her the badge and he was going to take it from her? But she hadn't really even had time to implement her plan, things were working faster than she intended, which was good. It would give her parents time to cool down before she saw them over winter break. All she'd done was give a few detentions over to some students, took a few points here and there from students who were misbehaving. They acted like she didn't mean business, but she did.
Taking a deep breath, the blonde held out a fist and knocked twice on the door. He hadn't looked so well in classes, but she wasn't a healer so he couldn't want her for that. Maybe he really was going to tell her it was sent to the wrong person by accident?

And there was the expected knock. He of course felt her coming down the hall from his wards, but now it was real. Now he would have to deal with this, and honestly he was a bit nervous. He had never had to do this part of teaching, or at least not to this extent. Sure he had reprimanded people, and who hadn't spoken to a person to make sure they were ok? But this was different, this was something more. So came the knock and he leaned back in chair slightly before calling the out to the girl. "Come in Ms. Hjort." His voice sounded tired and weak, more than a little hoarse.
He stood to welcome her, and though he was tired he needed no support. He had slept when Raynor had told him, maybe not the whole time, but some of it. So some strength had returned, just not as much as he would have liked. He gestured for the comfortable chairs across from his desk, speaking softly, "Please have a seat. Is there anything I can get you? A drink maybe? One of the only butterbeer stashes in the whole school." Of course who knew if it was the only one. He had always been known to have a stash of it, even as a student, it wouldn't surprise him if a student now was known for such.
Devin waited for the girl to sit, completely unsure of how he would start. So instead he paused to think, it would be a long pause he was sure. What to start with, and how to do so?

Hearing the call of her name as well as the permission for her to enter, Felicity opened the door enough to enter Brady's office, but didn't shut it afterwards. Being in a closed room with someone, especially a male, was not something the blonde was comfortable with unless she knew the person. Brady was not one of those people she actually knew. Upon her light brown eyes spotting her Head of House, Felicity noticed he didn't look as bad off as he had during their first lesson, the lesson she likely wouldn't forgive him for. Raynor commanded him like a minion and Felicity wasn't fond of it, she wasn't fond of Raynor, and anyone who let her play them like a puppet couldn't be good news, right?
Shaking her head, Felicity didn't want anything, only to know why she was suddenly being called in when she hadn't actually done anything that year. There was the incident of her walking out of History of Magic class, but she hadn't done anything wrong. The man threatened her and she left. When a situation gets to that level, the only thing to properly do is leave before something worse happens. And then there was her detention, the one where the professor scared her and Drew made her leave because the madman punched Celina's brother square in the face and Felicity hadn't gone back since. While she didn't want to lose any House points, Drew didn't want her continuing the detentions, and really, she couldn't blame him.
Sliding into one of the chairs across from Brady, Felicity again noticed how he still wasn't looking up to par. The previous term he'd been one of the cleanest cut professors they had, but now...he wasn't looking too good. Being a rather good-looking man didn't even deter from his present condition.
"You wanted to see me?" she asked him, trying to not let curiosity get the best of her. She didn't want anything, she just wanted to know, why after the previous year when no one had even ventured to talk to her about what happened (other than Drew) and after all the trouble she'd gotten herself involved in, suddenly she was being called on. It had to do with her badge, there must have been a huge mistake made and now he was going to relieve her of it, just like she wanted.
