Immediately she felt everything inside flare. Butterflies that must have been at monsterous size, her heart was pounding like she'd never felt before, and the smile on her face was probably one of the largest she'd ever had. Did she actually hear him correctly? Had he inquired if he could? By the look on his face, she was sure he had.
Nodding very slowly, without letting her gaze drift from his she tried to say something, anything that would show she was willing to let him, but nothing would come. All she could do was smile and nod, and hope he really had asked her.

Can I kiss you? Seriously, what idiot asks that? Apparently Drew. What he should have done, what he wanted to do, what he had invisioned himself doing was sweeping his arm across the desk, spilling her newspaper things to the floor, and pushing her down on top before kissing her good and hard.
But no, he had to be the wimpy guy who asked first.
Can I kiss you? and she nodded back. Her response surprised him a little and it took him a moment to realize she was actually accepting, which of course meant... he had to kiss her now.
It's not that he didn't want to. He obviously did very... very much. But he was starting to wonder if he had set himself up for something he couldn't handle. If he hadn't asked, it would have been over and done with. But now... what if she was waiting for filet mingion and all he could deliver was ground beef?
How did anyone even know if they were a good kisser or not? He hadn't kissed all that many girls, but he had never gotten any complaints from those few... okay, two. Maybe they had just been trying to be polite?
He was overthinking it. He should have just kissed her instead of being the freak-boy who asks. No real man asks, does he? They just do and brace themselves for a sharp slap if the lady didn't like it. If he was a bad kisser, would Felicity smack him? Probably not. If he was a bad kisser, it would be her own fault for agreeing to it, right?
His hand freed itself from her hair and traced its way down her cheek, cupping her chin and pulling her a little closer. He went in slowly, taking the time to enjoy her softness and her smell. He let his lips brush against hers an nuzzled her nose a little before going in for the actual kiss. It wasn't the good and hard kiss he had imagined, but it was soft and it tasted sweet and he realized that it was exactly the first kiss he wanted from her.

There was hesitation and she wondered if she'd heard wrong, maybe he hadn't said anything at all. Perhaps she'd wanted him to so badly she had imagined him asking, imagined hearing his voice in such a soft tone, the look in his eyes, on his face, the feel of his hand playing with a lock of her hair. And what if she'd just nodded for no reason?
Lowering her eyes slowly, in hopes that the reddening of her face wouldn't be quite so bad if she wasn't actually viewing him, she stopped. He'd just freed his hand from her hair, she felt the gentlest of tugs, and she felt his hand tracing her cheek, coming to a rest under her chin.
And now she was panicking, what if he had asked and she really had agreed to it? The blonde didn't know how to kiss, she'd never kissed anyone before. Forget being a bad kisser, just how was she supposed to kiss to begin with? How was she supposed to respond? In movies it was always done one way, but those were practiced, over and over. This was a once in lifetime chance. Once your first kiss was given, you couldn't get it back.
He was moving slowly, which gave her all the more time to think. She could back out, she could just step back and say she really wasn't ready, but that would be a lie. Felicity was ready, she had been for weeks, but what if she did something wrong?
It was too late to change her mind, it was happening, there was no stopping it. Not now anyway, and really she didn't want to stop it. His lips touched hers, and then they didn't. Was that it? Was that all there was to it? Then she felt his nose against hers, and she felt her heart pound that much more. There was something about it, something that was almost romantic, and it made her giddy feeling and smile even more.
And then it stopped, only to start something new. This was it. This was what she'd been waiting for, what she'd wanted for the longest time it felt. Enjoyable, tender, not forceful, it was, dare she think, perfect?
The honey coloured eyes closed, no more worries about not knowing what to do, as it seemed she knew all along. Her arms remained around his neck, her hand still in his hair, just enjoying it. Everything. Who would have thought it was that easy, that it was that nice, that it could be like that with someone?

He broke away slowly and then went in for one more small kiss, reluctant to leave the spot. She had kissed him back and he felt that that was a good thing, enjoying the warm tingles he got from head to toe. He brushed the hair back from her face and smiled at her, not knowing what to say, not wanting to break the moment.

At least she'd managed to hold off the giggles that had threatened to erupt, the tickling of his mustache wasn't something she'd planned on. However, mustache or not, it was enjoyable. And what was even more so was the fact that her first kiss had been with someone she liked, her first crush.
Lightly biting her bottom lip, she smiled back. Her heart was continuing its newest rhythm and her stomach was still demonstrating new sensations. All right, so it was more than enjoyable, but then another thought ran across her mind. Where did that leave them?
Friends, right? He hadn't said anything on the matter to make it more than that, even if he'd asked her on a date and they'd just kissed. Weren't they still just friends?

His smile grew wider at seeing hers and he thought she looked awfully cute as she bit on her bottom lip. He still wasn't sure what to say so he just continued playing with her hair. Thank you just didn't seem right and That was nice, while true, sounded stupid. And of course, he couldn't just stand there staring at her all night. He considered going for another kiss, but really wanted to savor this one for a while longer.
"I've been wanting to do that for a while," he finally told her with a satisfied sigh.

The light blush crept over her cheeks as she smiled a little more. He'd wanted to do that for a while? That thought was nice, incredibly so, as was the feel of him playing with her hair. It didn't make her feel so strange for having wanted him to do that for a while. And he'd broken the silence, which was good because she'd been thinking that maybe she'd done something wrong with how silent it'd gone afterwards.
"Really?" she inquired teasingly. "Just how long is a while? Because I've been wanting you to do that for a while, and for me a while had been about a month." What was the harm in confessing that? He'd done so with her, she could return the favor. Pulling him down a little, she lightly brushed her lips against his, liking how it felt to do that. But still, her question wouldn't leave her mind.

"Since the day you told me you thought my boxers were adorable," he teased back, though it wasn't entirely true. He remembered thinking that her freckles were cute, but he had been too embarassed to really be thinking about kissing anyone.
"No, I think it was the day I found you in the tree... " Yeah, that was it. He had been so close when he pulled her down and then when she jumped on him he had thought about it again and panicked. "You were chasing a squirrel and ended up hanging upside down like a pinata."

"Sammy," she replied quickly. It wasn't any old squirrel, it was Sammy, her squirrel. "His name is Sammy." Calculating, she decided it'd been nearly two months. On the other hand, that was the same day she'd told him she only wanted to be his friend, that had changed quickly though.
"Yes, but I didn't hang like that for long. If I remember right, you got me down pretty quickly," she replied, sticking her tongue out at him. "And thankfully no one actually thought I was one, I don't think things would've turned out very well if I'd been beaten with a beaters bat in lue of getting candy."

"Sammy..." Drew repeated, swaying happily to the song that was playing on the wireless. The warm tingley feeling was still with him and making him feel a little giddy. "I tried a few times to go out there and talk to him, but he didn't seem to understand me very well. Must be the Amercian accent."

Following his swaying again, she giggled. The thought of the boy going out to the tree to talk to Sammy was funny enough. "Yes, it's a bit hard to understand what you're saying," she agreed with the most serious of expressions on her face, having wiped away the giggling smile. "But I'm sure if you tried really hard, you could break that barrier."
"In fact..." she trailed off, pulling away from him and walking to the drawers of her desk. Pulling open one, only to find it empty, she pulled open another and there he was. Curled up, his tail peacefully wrapped around him. Well, a bit of disturbance wasn't going to be bad. Besides, he needed to be more social. Picking him up into her arms, she returned to Drew and smiled. "You could try whenever you'd like since I've got him now."
Stroking the soft fur, her eyes were quite excited as she gazed down at the grey fured animal. Even if Lucas didn't want to be her friend anymore, she was still thanking him for capturing Sammy.

Drew was a little surprised to hear she had caught him and laughed at the sight of the small creature. Felicity must have had some special bond with the squirrel after all. Drew had honestly thought it was just a fun game with her. "And he's tame for you? That's so cool," he said softly, reaching out carefully to see if he could pet the little ball of fur.

"Well, as tame as he can be," she replied a bit nervously as she watched Drew reach to pet him. Thankfully Sammy seemed to be in a mellow mood and didn't look as though he were going to bite the Prefect's hand as he had hers and Lucas'. "He's still a wild animal, obviously, but he's a calm one."
Letting her fingers continue their course, she smiled up at Drew. "Lucas, from your House, actually caught him for me. I met him in the library a bit ago and then he surprised me a few days ago by bringing Sammy to me. He found him somewhere and since he'd had me describe the little guy to him, he thought that maybe it was him. And it was." Of course, thinking about Lucas made her think about what he'd said, but she quickly pushed that thought away. All she wanted her happy thoughts right then, and the reason for that.
"Why don't we sit down for a bit?" she asked, gesturing with a nod of her head to one of the couches. It was more comfortable than standing around, and she would be less likely to jostle Sammy around if she were sitting with her arms rested.

"That's cool," Drew answered, wondering if he should have paid more attention to the squirrel when they had met in the tree that day. At least Felicity had gotten him so that was probably the important part. He gently scratched behind Sammy's ears, knowing cats and dogs like a good scritch there and hoping squirrels did too.
He looked over his shoulder at the sofa and was tempted, but knew there was work to be done. "Shouldn't we be getting the paper done?" he asked with a crooked smile. The faster they got it done, the more time they'd have to do other stuff, right?

"All right," she nodded in agreement. Yes, the paper had to be done, something be written about the dance, but she hadn't really been thinking about it. No, her thoughts had been more on Drew and Sammy in an attempt to forget about what Lucas had said to her for the time being. Walking over to the door, she shut it and put Sammy down on the floor. It didn't feel right putting him back in her drawer, even if that's where she had first found him.
Realizing how that gesture could've been taken, she quickly looked up at Drew, eyes wide. "I...I shut it so Sammy wouldn't get out," she explained, feeling her face heat up. That had been her intention of shutting, but why did she feel the need to explain it with a stutter? She didn't know. Looking down, she quickly made her way to her desk and sat down on the edge of it, pulling her notebook into her lap. "I just want to write something up about the dance really quick, first."
The chairs were comfortable enough, but if she didn't want to feel the comfortableness, not right that moment. Flipping through her notes, she still wasn't sure where to begin. After a few minutes, she thought she might've found her starting point. But, having found it, she realized she'd have to do more than one tiny little note about it, there would have to be a bit of research done into the thing inorder to write about what really happened. A little investigation. There had been more than a few things that had gone around about what had happened at the dance, but what could she write up that would make for a quick attempt?
