Prior to knocking on the office door before her, Keagan treated herself to a fair amount of pacing. It would be pretty obvious to any who may pass by the fifth year that she was nervous, and some would assume even that was an understatement. However, her case of the nerves and, therefore, her pacing had nothing to do with the meeting she was planning to begin any minute now, or at least nothing to do with the man with whom she was to meet. Rather, she was nervous because she hadn't given a single thought to her career path until this very moment. That particular aspect of her growing up was one she had avoided, but now she would be forced to confront it.
Sucking in a deep breath, Keag slowly let it out as she stopped her pacing and turned toward the door. Her knock was more of a soft rapping as she let the breath out.

Walking around the corner, Banks glanced at his wrist watch once again. He thought he was going to be late to his next career advice session, but it seemed like he would make it on time. He didn't want to leave Keagan waiting.
Glancing up he saw Keagan in front of his office, and heard the knock. He noticed her deep breath, and chuckled slightly. Every one of the students seemed nervous about the career advice. He supposed he would have been as well he is was in their shoes.
"I hope you have not been waiting out here long, Miss Gerislynn. I apologize if you have." he spoke, reaching her.

Keagan rigidly turned toward the voice that had spoken. Her nerves the mess she had created of them, Keag was surprised any smaller noise hadn't set her to jumping. Thankfully, though, they had not. "Not at all, Proffy G," she replied, trying to pull of a smile and guessing that she failed miserably at it. She had, of course, been waiting, but the key difference was that she had not been kept waiting. She had merely shown up incredibly early for her session of pacing.
"Having a busy day?" she inquired, attempting to smile once again.

"Just slightly." he replied. Catching her attempted smile, he tried to give her a more comforting one.
It was not abnormally busy that day, but no less busy than normal. Though, he had left his office open. Normally he locked it, just out of habit, but today he had forgotten. Reaching for the doorknob, he pushed it up and took a step back. "After you." he nodded to the girl.

Keagan stepped gingerly through the doorway and glanced around. She vaguely recalled being in this office once before as she glanced around the interior, perhaps in her routine as a Gryffindor house prefect at some point, but professor's offices always seemed to be changing.
"Thank you," she said, grateful for the respect her Head of House had shown her by allowing her to pass through the door first. However, now she wasn't sure what to do. How was this meeting going to progress? Should she take a seat? Keag decided to wait for Professor G's instruction before doing anything further than stepping far enough into the room to allow him to enter and pass by her.

Banks entered after the girl letting the door swing softly shut behind him. Glancing at her as he made his way around the desk, he chuckled. "Please, take a seat." he told her. Sitting down behind the desk, he shuffled through some papers until finally finding her folder.
"Now, do you have a certain career of interest in mind? Or.." he trailed off allowing her to speak.

'Don't mind if I do...,' Keagan thought, smiling to herself. Taking a few more steps into the office, she flopped down into one of the guest chairs in a way that still had a semblance of grace to it, but not much more than that.
...And then the meeting itself began. Keag blanched after the man across the desk from her asked his question, a question she had known was coming and had dreaded ever since she had begun her pacing outside his door. She swallowed noticeably before replying. "Actually...," she began. "That's what I'm all jittery about, as I'm sure you've noticed my nervousness. I have absolutely no idea what career I wish to pursue. Zip. Nada. Goose egg."

"Well, you certainly are not alone in that sense." Banks told him, smiling. It was much to take on at such a young age. But the years would pass quickly..too quickly, he knew.
"What classes are you most interested in. That doesn't necessarily mean you are the best in it, grade wise, but your interest. You want to pick a career that you are interested in and want to be involved with, even if it might be challenging." Banks told the girl.

It was a relief to know she wasn't alone because, even though she knew it deep down, it was easy to ignore that fact. She tried to smile back up at him and even managed a small one.
"I love Arithmancy and Divination, when they're offered and taught well. I've taken a liking to Care of Magical Creatures recently; some of those little creatures are adorable. Transfiguration is alright, and it's my strongest subject, which I suppose is a plus." She felt she was rambling again, but at least she was answering his question. There was one more thing she had to add, and did so with a nod. "I definitely don't like Herbology."

Banks nodded, "So really, you just have to decide what direction you want to go in and what subjects interest you the most and will continue to interest you." he said.
"There are always jobs where you could be involved with animals. Dragon keepers, explorers, etc. Transfiguration is always something that is helpful, probably in most every sort of job."
"How do you like potions?" he asked. Many jobs also included that subject.

"I suppose so," Keag replied, agreeing, but still feeling lost as to what that direction was. Though she liked animals, the jobs he listed didn't seem to appeal to her overmuch. She liked the cute and fuzzy ones, that's all.
"Potions is alright, I guess. I find it hard sometimes to focus in there, though. I don't know if it's a dislike for the subject or simply boredom with it that lets me get distracted." 'Or it could just be in my nature to be easily distracted.' She smiled to herself at the thought.
