It was with great effort for the professor to arrange this group lesson. It was no easy task to find a time slot which all of the students taking Ancient Runes, from year 3 to year 7, were free. It was also no easy task for him to find enough information on this particular language. Quite interestingly enough, he was proud to say he knew a lot about Ancient Runes, but he had very minimal exposure on this language.
Kicking the door open and dropping the huge book on his desk with a loud bang, he rubbed his hands together excitedly. He hoped his students had enjoyed the year, and this last lesson.

Drew slunk into the class a few moments later, offering Professor Mason a sheepish smile as he took his seat. He still wasn't thrilled aoubt having a combined class right before his OWL, feeling like the class might be better spent reviewing material or something, but Mason had assured him he'd be fine for the test.
With a deep sigh, he pulled his glasses out and began pouring over his text, determined not to waste any time now that it had come down to the wire.

Ash was in a fidgeting mess when she came through the doorway. Her hair was in frizzy clumps, unlike its usual neatness. She carried a giant load of books, stacked up one after the other, so high that you couldn't even see her head. They were on all sorts of subjects; on transfiguration, unicorns, warts, fungi, pianos, and even the life story of Galvin Gudgeon, the seeker of the Chudley Cannons.
She slammed them all down on the first desk she encountered and fell back into a chair, breathing hard. The books toppled over each other and some fell to the floor. Ash shuffled through her folders and papers, looking for her Ancient Runes supplies and work. She wasn't very... collected today.

Diaz checked the door against her timetable before walking into the classroom. She already knew from letters and meetings that exams were drawing closer and so as this was the last runes lesson Dee could only hope the professor was going run over some past lessons. Not that she hadn't studied runes at her grandmother's but she just wanted to be sure she had done the right stuff.
Smiling at the teacher as she passed, the girl kept her eyes fixed to the floor slightly. She was glad she was early, having given herself an extra 10 minutes to find the room, as it helped to only have to walk in when there were only two other students there. Taking a seat pretty close to the front, Dee sat down, throwing her bag under the desk in front of her.

So it was true. Students really behaved differently before exams. There was Mr Thornton studying his little heart out, kind of made him feel a bit bad that he's not reviewing with him. Miss Xin, although she was only a fourth year, seemed all ready for her year end exams too. And the new Ravenclaw girl. The professor was a bit puzzled as to why she was here though. Was going to another class right before the exam a new trend?
"Hello, Miss," he looked at the girl with a half smile. He didn't mean to be rude, but didn't get any notice that there would a new student. "You are here because...."

As the girls came in, Drew slumped down in his seat, hiding under an arm to continue reading in peace. He had deftly avoided wearing his glasses in front of anyone else, and though it hadn't been such a big deal wearing them when he was the only student in class, suddenly he felt very self consious.

Jack came strolling into the Ancient Runes classroom thinking that todays lesson would be a fun one considering students from all the years would be there. Looking around he saw the other students sitting here and there. Walking over to where Drew was he took a seat. Mainly because Drew didn't look like he wanted to be noticed all that much and Jack was curious as to why that was. "Hey Drew," Jack said with a smile setting his things on his desk and sitting down.

"Hey..." Drew grumbled back a greeting, not looking up from the book he was reading. Only a slight movement of his hand was added to indicate an acknowledgment of Jack's presence.
If he had looked up he would have done a happy dance for an all-Ravenclaw class ;D WOO HOO!

Then Ivy came in and ruined the little Claw party. She looked kind of tired, but she was confident that she would do well. She hugged her sister Ash silently and tightly. After hugging Ash, she embraced Drew oddly. "Hello, Professor." she chirped, before collapsing into her seat and fell into a deep slumber.
Yes, Ivy was definitely tired. The makeup that she wore did wonders and made her look more rejuvenated and alive. In fact, the seventh year Puff was exhausted from studying for her upcoming exams for the day.

Diaz faltered a little before answering. She had applied for this class and it was on her timetable... had she not been accepted for it?
"It says Ancient Runes on my timetable..." the new girl pointed out, pulling the parchment from her book bag. She must admit she wasn't sure why her parents had sent her off to school when the term and year were so close to finishing but she supposed they wanted her to gain qualifications. So, due to this Dee had turned up for class just to make sure the notes she had completed with her grandmother were the correct ones she needed. The new raven hadn't however expected the teacher to be more suprised than she was.

Of all people, it had to be Ivy. It couldn't be someone cool like Krissy. Ivy. Great.
He flinched when she hugged him, not sure what she meant by it and positive she was going to hit him or yell in his ear or something. He had pretty much gotten used to Ash's moods, but could do without seeing the older Xin girl for a very long time. He absentmindedly pushed his glasses back up his nose and tried to continue with his reading.

Jack just watched as more people filtered in and had to laugh when Ivy came bounding in and hugged both Ash and Drew. Finding Drew's reaction exceptionally amusing. He couldn't help himself, "Do I get a hug to Drew?" he said jokingly stretching his arms out wide as if he wanted a hug to. He was totally kinding and would be a bit afraid if Drew actually hugged him, but thougt it was amusing all the same.

Drew usually didn't feel the need to ignore Jack, but chose to do so on this particular occasion, pretending he hadn't even heard the other boy because he was so engrossed in his reading. He regretted agreeing to a mixed class when Mason had asked him about it last lesson.

What were you supposed to do when your students walked into your class, then fell asleep right there? That was the question in Professor Mason's mind. He heard the new Ravenclaw girl's question, but he was having problems understanding Miss Xin's behaviour.
After some time of delay, the man finally looked at the girl's timetable. "Oh, I am sorry, perhaps there was some misunderstanding," he offered the girl a half smile, but glanced over at the Hufflepuff. "Er..welcome to the last Runes lesson of the year."
In his mind, he was trying to find all kind of explanation for the girl. Class has started yet, so maybe she's only taking a power nap and preparing herself for later, his mind reasoned. Anyhow, perhaps combined lesson was a bad idea after all.

Usually, Ash would have tried to hit Ivy, with one of her books, but this time, she simply just waved the Hufflepuff off, too tired to get mad about anything. She scanned through her notes furiously, her eyes about to pop out from their sockets. Even though she was reading, she found herself not really concentrating on any of it. Instead her mind wandered to muffins and the many types of muffins available to society. She had heard that there was even a bird muffin. The girl shuddered to think about how the bones would feel under your tongue. Nasty.
Crap- she was supposed to be studying, only a few more weeks until exams! Her fingers gripped tendrils of black hair and pulled violently; why couldn’t she concentrate? Ash moaned, frustrated, and shook her head, just making her messy hair messier. It sort of resembled that of a shaggy dog’s. She dropped her head on the table and stared out with blank eyes.
This was torturous.
