Tengwar was almost a completely different type of runes when compared to the other ones he taught. It's different in the ways it's structured and appeared. And most importantly, it's considered as a magical language. He supposed that was the reason why it was saved for the 7th years.
He waited for his students to show, after writing the topic of the year on the board.

Arianna moved quietly into the room and took a seat. Well, okay, it wasn't THAT quietly. The brace on her right leg caused her to move unnaturally and her left foot always hit the floor a bit heavily than it would have if her weight was evenly distributed. She did move try to move quietly, though, and thought she had been quite successful, though probably not unnoticed.
As she settled into her chair, Arianna smiled at the professor as best she could. It was a bit difficult, though. After last year...No, she wasn't going to think about that. She wanted to learn Runes. She enjoyed it. She just...needed to get used to the one-on-one time.

The professor turned away from he heard someone entered. He wasn't quick enough to help her settle in her chair, and was completely shocked as to what happened to the Ravenclaw girl.
"Arianna, what happened to your leg?" he asked. He broke his arm once, and boy, that was PAINFUL.

"Car accident," Arianna replied, sinking slightly in her chair. Well, that certainly wouldn't help her any. If she wound up being the only student in class, she definitely wouldn't be able to hide anything like this. She didn't want to tell him everything, though. Nor did she have to. Right? "It...um....almost took my kneecap off. The Healers did what the could, but said I'd have to wear this brace if I was going to come back to school so soon...."

"You probably really should rest until it's completely healed," he said gently. "Knees take quite some load, and are not exactly the easiest parts to heal while under constant stress."
He stopped himself from saying more. After all, he was not the school nurse. But perhaps he could change the class location so she didn't need to climb all those stairs. Then again, Ravenclaw house was in a tower.
"Let's get back to the subject here," he continued after a pause, changing the topic. "So, last year. Are you nervous about NEWTs?"

"I've been trying to take it as easy as possible," Arianna claimed, shrugging slightly. It wasn't quite true. Though Arianna wasn't doing as much running as she normally would, she was still probably doing more walking than she should be. It was just so hard for her to sit for very long, though. But he was right. Maybe she should've thought about crutches. She'd still be able to get around, but it would most of the strain off of her leg.
"Not yet," Arianna replied to his question, a slight smile on her lips. "I figure it I keep up with my studying all through the year, NEWTs will just be another review. But wait until that last month...then I'll probably go crazy."

"That is very common," he chuckled and nodded. "I remember when I had my potion NEWT. It was a miracle I didn't chop off my hand and threw it in the cauldron along with the ingredients."
He let himself dwell in his memories a little while longer, before smiling and shaking his head. "Anyways, our topic this year is Tengwar, and I've heard both good things and bad things about it. Before we even start this lesson, do you know anything about it?"

It was then Es entered the class. Ancient Runes wasn't her best class and so she hoped this year went well. She gave a slight sigh as she plopped into her chair after flashing the Professor a smile and a quick "hello." She hoped she would be able to focus on her studies since her mind had been so full lately. It raced about a mile a minute so she hoped she could slow it down to try and focus on her Ancient Runes. She flashed Adri a smile. She didn't know the girl very well but she was in every one of her classes since they were both seventh years so she figured she should get to know her better. She wondered what had happened to her leg but was polite enough not to ask. She figured it was none of her business.

The Slytherin girl was late, but she didn't seem to notice that. Ah well, the introductory lesson was meant to be a bit relaxing. Perhaps he would take points off next time.
"We were just talking a bit about Tengwar, the language of the elves," he said, offering a small nod to the newcomer. "It is used to write a number of different, including Quenya, the language of the Amanya branch of the Elvish language, and Sindarin, the language of the Grey-elves. We are going to focus more on Quenya throughout this year."
