After a large amount of unpacking and an equal quantity of deliberation, Elisaveta Kiryakov had decided that she just didn't have time to have a "real" first class of the semester. She was still in something of a daze with the speed of the events for the last few weeks of her life. So she had decided to have an informal lesson with her first and second years in one bunch, and the third and fourth years in another. The fifth and sixth years would get to have "real" lessons for the first class of the semester, the lucky children.
Her Puffskein, Custard, was currently curled up in the pocket of her robes, taking a nap. He was a friendly creature, and Elisaveta reached in to gently ruffle his fur, trying to wake him up. The Puffskein was definitely going to enjoy what she had in mind for him--and her class--today. With a smile, the Astronomy professor leaned back in her chair, waiting for the students to come in.
(OOC: I've come to the conclusion that a 'real' lesson 3 for every year is not going to happen, because of my late start. I apologize, and promise that lesson four will be worth the wait.)

Samuel walked up to the Astronomy Tower. He walked in and was amazed this class was active now. He loved Astronomy and was very happy that he couldn't stop. He looked around and to see the new professor.
"Yes, um, do I just sit? And oh, I'm Samuel, Samuel Howard," he said to the professor. He introduced himself to her because of two reasons, one that she knows his name, and two so she knew he wasn't late.

Ah, her first student! Elisaveta smiled broadly, then stood and extended her hand to the young man. It might not have been the best start to a student-professor relationship, but the young woman had no desire to scare her students. They were going to have to work hard, yes, but they didn't need to be terrified.
"Hello, Samuel," she replied, trying very hard to soften her Russian accent. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Professor Kiryakov, and yes, you may sit anywhere." You won't be sitting there long, she thought with something of an impish smile.

Mark clambered up from the Hufflepuff common room at least twelve staircases before actually reaching the Astronomy doorframe. The stairs had just decided to be stubborn with the firstie, and he leaned against the door for support. Mark was convinced he was dying from the stairs. It was quite a large bit of work for a firstie to climb up so many stairs at midnight, not to mention that Mark wasn’t in shape, nor will he ever be. His medical problems just didn’t allow him to be.
Mark collapsed into a seat directly by the door as he started going dizzy. He tightly closed his amber eyes, and held onto the desk as if it were his life. STOP! STOP SPINNING! Mark pleaded in his head. He hated the dizzy spells he got, weither he was out of breath or not. He didn’t do so well with thoughts. He chewed his bottom lip, his eyes still tightened shut. Mark kept his eyes shut for a good two minutes before laying his head on the desk. It was going to be tough to stay away for this class, eleven year olds just didn’t have the ability to stay awake.
Mark had a feeling, with the new teacher, that the first class was going to be a lecture. Perfect! A time to sleep through it! Breathing in a rather flemmy voice, because he hadn't had the time to visit the nurse, he watched as the teacher communicated with the ravenclaw. Mark hoped she wouldn't call upon him.

As Taryn got further and further up the winding stairs, she heard someone breathing heavier and heavier. It was a mystery of little concern to the first-year, until she reached the top of the stairs and realized that she had caught up to a boy who was breathing very heavily. He ducked into the room just as she reached the landing, and Taryn opened the door to the classroom as he was sitting down.
"Are-are you okay?" the Ravenclaw ventured, seeing that he had collapsed into a seat near the door. Certainly, she was tired from climbing all of those stairs, but he didn't look like he was feeling very well.

He looked at Mark, "Dude, you seem alittle tired," he said to him. Indeed, he looked tired, so was Samuel. It was midnight, and it was VERY late. He had never been to a class at this late hour.
But he heard the professor statement, but didn't sit yet, since he had said something to Mark. "Hey, um. Actually, I haven't seen you before. Well, I had in other classes, and I saw you go in the hospital wing, but is your name... John, Jason, Tucker,Mark,Rick, uhh..." he asked Mark while still thinking.
He looked at Taryn, "Your in my house, and I don't even know your name. Well, I'm Samuel. Samuel Howard," he said grinning to Mark and Taryn.

One of the Gryffindor first years bonded into the Astronomy room rather slowly for even her. Carina was almost always in a hyper mood, almost too hyper for her own good, but this entire getting to class at midnight was not doing anything for her. So in her right hand held a cup of hot chocolate to keep her awake. The girl even had the nerves to bring a pink teddy bear into class, for it was likely she was going to fall asleep sometime soon.
Rubbing her eyes with her free hand, she yawned widely. She took a seat towards the back of the classroom in hopes that if and when Carina did fall asleep, perhaps the teacher wouldn't notice. Yes, it was a stupid idea, as the teachers often looked more carefully at those in the back, but that was besides the point. After all, since when was Carina the most intelligent girl?
Carina took a quick sip of her Hot Chocolate, nodding at the teacher in the front. Normally she would have bonded up to the teacher and go into an hour long conversation of... pretty much nothing. But she was much too tired for that.

Carter dragged himself into the classroom. Not walked, but dragged. Normally his hair looked like he just got out of bed, but now it was even more messy than usual. He tried to comb it back with his fingers as he took a seat but it wouldn't comply. With a sigh he gave up, and looked aorund at the other students. So far he was the only second year in the room. Hmmm .

Certainly, she was tired from climbing all of those stairs, but he didn't look like he was feeling very well. Mark answered groggily, 'Ya... just tired..." Shrugging into his desk he closed his amber eyes yet again. These late classes would be the death of him, literally. He probably would be too tired to go to the nurse tomorrow morning. If anything, Samuel's comment had brought his already 'naturally' pale skin even lighter. He hadn't expected anyone to know that he was a victim of a disease quite yet. He had only been at Hogwarts for a single week. He didn't give a name, for there was no point really.

Theodora entered the classroom. She was more awake right now, but a bit screwed up. These classes messed with her meds. She wasn't supposed to take them until morning, so she would be mostly off her meds. She took a seat in the corner, not far from Mark. She had to sit down three times before she could actually stay sitting. She mumbled to herself quietly, pulling out parchment and making marks on it absentmindedly.

Niyah was actually still full of energy, but not the usual amount. She came into the classroom and spotted Carter right off the bat. She went over to him, and immidiately let the flood of questions go. "Hey how are you? How were your other classes? Were they fun? Did you meet any interesting people? Are you tired? I am a little bit," and here she stopped for about three seconds. "Are you the only second year hear?"

Koren walked tenderly into the classroom, "Hello professor," she said as she took a seat next to Samuel. "Hi," she said to Samuel. Normally she wouldn't have said anything to him, but she had to meet new people whether she liked them or not. She looked around the room and all the kids who were there so far and noticed how tired most of them were.
Except one girl who was drilling a whole in another boy's head with questions. She is going to be annoying.

"Oh, all right," Taryn replied to the Hufflepuff boy, not quite sure if she believed him--he really didn't look well at all. Still smiling shyly, the Ravenclaw gestured to the seat next to him, shifting her bookbag from her shoulder to the floor. It wasn't too obvious whether the boy would have liked company or not, but Taryn wouldn't have minded meeting a new person to sit with in class. She really didn't recognize the boy from last term, but figured that it had to just be slipping her memory. "Can I sit with you? My name's Taryn."

Michea was a little out of breath when she entered the Astronomy classroom. She'd rushed to get here, and from the Dungeons where the Slytherin House lived, it was quite a journey. She was in good shape, but hurrying up that many stairs would wind just about anyone. She'd thought she was going to be late because she'd dozed off around ten and hadn't woken up until nearly eleven-thirty. She wasn't sure what had woken her, but she was grateful.
Looking around, she heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that class hadn't started yet. She'd gotten here in time. She found a seat near the front of the class, nodding in greeting to her classmates as she went.

Elisaveta checked the clock, then her roster, and then the clock again. No more students were coming in, that was certain. So she gave her wand a brisk wave, muttering an incantation that caused the door to slam shut and lock itself. Gentler, next time, she thought to herself, smiling apologetically at her students.
"Hello, students," she greeted them, standing up from the desk and taking Custard out of the pocket of her robes, gently tossing the Puffskein from hand to hand. "I see that most of you found the classroom just fine. Please do remind your friends who didn't come that they should show up for every class.
"My name is Professor Kiryakov, and I'm glad to say that I will be your astronomy professor. Do not worry, we will not have the years combined for every lesson. Each year will have their own individual lessons," she reassured them. "Now, if everyone would put up any of your quill and paper and texts. And stand up from your chair. You may seat yourself on the top of the desks."
The professor took her own instruction at that, leaning on the front of her desk. "We are going to be playing a game this lesson, so that I may try and remember some of your names, yes? We will pass Custard, my Puffskein, around the circle. When you catch him, you must tell me your name, your year, and your house. Then you must tell the class a piece of information that you know about Astronomy."
Some of the students were staring, slack-jawed at her, and Elisaveta chuckled slightly. "Do not worry about passing the puffskein. They love to be thrown around, and Custard does not mind being dropped, as long as you don't throw him to the ground." The last statement was accompanied by a very menacing glare, which implied that students should steer clear of that particular test.
"I will start. Elisaveta Kiryakov, no year, and no house. But there are three kinds of meteors." She tossed Custard towards one of the students, then quickly added something else. "Do not worry about remembering all of the information that is said this time. You will not find it on an exam."
