"Smashing, huh?" Drew answered, feeling a sense of pride that he had done so well. Sure it was kind of silly, but he kind of liked the idea of keeping her cozy and warm. She snuggled back into him and he sighed happily in return, taking another opportunity to breathe in the smell of her hair. He could be happy just staying like that with her in his arms forever.
But she wanted to talk and he wanted to make sure she got that chance. No sidetracking and no stalling. This was important.
"Right here is good for me," he told her with a small smile. Of course there were a lot of good places to sit, but he would be fine as long as he could have his arms around her. "Unless you'd rather sit on the bench or something?"

"Fantasticly so," she told him with a honest grin. His arms were extremely comforting, almost as comforting as when her dad held her, but this had a different feel to it, one she had to admit she liked a lot more. Being able to feel his breath in her hair sent shivers down her spine, which made her snuggle in deeper to his body, looking for more of those nerve-wracking feelings.
Wrinkling her nose at his suggestion, thinking that sitting somewhere would be best, in case he caused her knees to buckle beneath her from a touch. "Could we use the swing?" she asked, letting her hands travel lightly over his chest before she stretched her neck up to kiss his jaw tenderly. "Please?"

He was just happy holding her and it didn't really matter where, but he had to give a small laugh when she asked to sit on the swing. If she had wanted to sit somewhere other than the grass, she could have just told him. Then again, she might not trace her fingers across his chest or kiss his jaw like that if she had just told him.
Of course when she looked at him like that, he'd do anything she wanted. "This is your game. Wherever you want," he told her with an uneven smile.

"It's not a game though," she told him, knitting her eyebrows briefly, wondering if that's how he saw it. She wanted to talk, and what she wanted to talk about wasn't a game, it had been a situation that was horrible and he wanted to know about it. And though a little voice in her head was telling her that he hadn't meant what he said, but her first thoughts was that she couldn't believe what he'd said.
But she tried to remain calm about it, that smile he gave her was melting her, but she didn't like what he'd called what she wanted to talk about. It wasn't a game, not even close, he knew what had happened, she was sure of it, but he wanted to hear from her. Why would he call that a game?
Stepping out of his arms, she grabbed his hand and started to pull him toward the swing she wanted to sit in. They could talk there.

As soon as she called him on it, he realized he had used the wrong analogy. She had just said she wanted to talk about what had happened that January and he had gotten distracted by her arms around him and the smell of her hair, something he had reminded himself not to do.
It wasn't a game. It was serious and while he had wanted to tell her that he was following her lead, he should have used that particular phrase. "I'm sorry. You're right," he told her seriously, letting her lead him to the bench. At least she wasn't mad... and he would make sure he didn't say any more stupid things.

His words met her ears, but went no further. She knew he hadn't meant it, but she didn't like that he'd said it. If he had meant something different he should've said what he had meant, not what he did say. It bothered her a little that she still went with her first thoughts so quickly compared to just going with whatever the other voice in her head had to say, it was kind of like what Drew did, spoke before thinking, but in her case, she was retaliating.
Taking him to the swing, Felicity moved so she was in front of Drew and could, hopefully, easily push him into the mobile seat. The temptation to kiss him was bothersome, because it was so needy, the want to just kiss and kiss and never stop, but she knew how ridiculous it sounded, and that she had to talk, as she had promised she would. It was time to talk.
With him settled down, Felicity climbed up next to him, stretching her legs out over his and wrapping her arms around his torso.

She didn't accept his apology, but she didn't exactly reject it either. He didn't say anymore as she walked him to the swing, determined to keep his focus on listening and understanding. The more he kept quiet, the less chance there was of him saying something else stupid.
He had to smile at her forcefulness and he sat down where she pushed him without a fight. He was tempted to grab her around the middle, pull her down with him, and give her a good kissing, but he resisted, knwoing that she wanted to talk and he needed to concentrate on what she was saying rather than her soft golden hair, or those sparkling brown eyes, or the adorable smattering of freckles across her nose. As she settled in his lap, he took just a moment to breathe in her scent before getting back to business.
"What did you want to tell me?" he asked softly, not sure where to start or even if she was ready to begin the discussion.

Resting her head in the crook of his neck, Felicity settled in against him, allowing her body to relax before she spoke. What she needed to do was organize all of her thoughts, pick through the details and tell him what he wanted to know, what she could remember to tell him, make him understand what had happened, though she hardly understood it herself.
Deeply inhaling his scent, Felicity fluttered her eyes, closing them and opening them, trying to bring back some kind of image of what she could remember to tell him, but at the same time doing her best to keep in mind that she was safe right then, that she was almost as safe as she could ever be, she was, after all, in Drew's arms.
"Everything," she spoke softly, barely above a whisper. "You remember...that day when you were...when Raynor asked a favour for that man to take you, too? To let you leave?" Her light brown eyes all ready started to tear over, just remembering how she couldn't believe that horrid woman would take him from her. To allow Drew to walk out and leave her there, her and Celina, all alone without Drew. Even if she'd been mad at him and Celina, he still left her.

Having her nestled in his arms made him feel secure, despite the fact that he knew this conversation wouldn't be easy. He was certain they'd eventually get to those events over a year ago, but he really hadn't expected her to start with it right off the bat. He knew that she'd bring up the portkey. He knew that she still blamed him for leaving her. He knew that she got hurt and it was his fault.
He bit on his lip and nodded back, not trusting his voice to answer. She wasn't as accusatory as she had been the last time they tried to have this conversation, but he was still pretty certain she didn't have the whole story from his end. This wasn't the time to correct her. He was just going to listen.
"Can you... just... remember... that I love you?" he asked softly, knowing they were both going to be upset by the end of it all. If they were going to start right in on the hard stuff, he needed to get that out. If they both remembered that one thing, he was certain they'd get through it okay.

The slight pause in her words was enough time for Drew to let her know he understood, for him to tell her those three precious words she cherished so much. Feeling him nod Felicity knew he was going to listen, he was going to try to understand what she told him. And just those words, they made her catch her breath, as they did every time. To hear someone say that to her, to hear him say that to her, made her nervous, made her realize how in love with him she was.
"I always will," she told him before echoing his words back, "I love you, too." Turning her head slightly, Felicity buried her face in his neck, taking a few deep breaths, inhaling his scent again. She never could get enough of him.
"When...when you left, when Raynor made you leave, I didn't like it," she explained, her voice quivering a little. "I was scared, and she made you leave, and I didn't feel well, and you weren't there because she made you leave." No matter what he said, Felicity knew it was Raynor's fault, that if it hadn't been for her Drew would've been there with Felicity and she wouldn't have been hurt. After that, once he and the others were gone, Felicity had gone into the bathroom and stayed there nearly the rest of the time, except the day after when she and Celina were going to sneak away.

Drew nodded, not in agreement, but in understanding. As much as she insisted that Raynor had made him go, he knew he had been given a choice that day. Raynor had called his name last, the clincher that would set her plan in action. “Andrew Thornton,” she had said, staring Shaw down and daring him to contradict her. “I am at least worth six.”
Drew had protested at first, convinced she was sending out the ones who might jepordize her plans. It had been Hiro who had been the voice of reason, and while Drew hadn't realized it at the time, he knew his best friend was right. "There's a reason you're leaving."
In the end, Drew had been given a choice and he chose to leave. He could have protested, but he chose to go in order to prove something to Shaw. Shaw's people had fighting among themselves. Drew wasn't going to be the weak link on Raynor's side.
He had left and hadn't been there when she needed him. If he had stayed, she wouldn't have tried to sneak off, she wouldn't have gotten caught, she wouldn't have been tortured. The precious trinkets she had hidden in her pockets would still be intact. It was all his fault because it was all his decision.
"I left and you were scared," he echoed quietly, biting back an appology only because he knew it would do no good. She needed to get her thoughts out and he wasn't going to sidetrack her with an argument over who's fault it was.

Carefully, Felicity nodded against Drew, knowing that he clarifying what she'd said. She was scared, she had been scared before, but with him gone, she couldn't help it, not when she didn't feel well, could hardly sleep, and wasn't eating well at all. She hid in the bathroom, taking comfort by the side of a toilet, the cool floor beneath her, and of Celina when she joined her.
"I hid. I couldn't stand being there if you weren't there, and my tummy hurt, I just couldn't leave the bathroom." Taking a break, she hid her face again, letting her lips touch the skin on his neck, just to get some amount of comfort before going on. "Celina came in, she found me. An we talked, I apologized for earlier." For accusing her and Drew, for everything.

At the time, it had hurt that she hadn't trusted him. He was pretty sure that she knew now that he wouldn't just leave her. Even back then, he had tried to send word to her through Hiro. Of course, the other boy hadn't been able to find her when she was in the girls' room the whole time.
Her small kiss threatened to distract him again, but he bit hard on the inside of his lip, forcing himself to focus as the taste of blood filled his mouth. "You apologized? For what?" he asked, not sure what she had done.

What hadn't she had to apologize for during that time? Accusing Drew and Celina of things, despising Celina's relationship with Drew. It was that night, the first one when she really went crazy about what happened. He had held her, and Felicity saw it, even if Drew wouldn't outright tell her what was going on, something about one of the Deva, but that was all she knew, she didn't like it. She could trust him, that she knew, but she didn't like it when he had his arms around other girls, not even now. Jealousy, she knew that's what it was, but she didn't like when he did it.
"For when I got mad at you both," she told him. Had she apologized to him yet? Almost, but not fully. She loved him, but she really hadn't liked it.

He really didn't remember the situation and was wondering if he should have. If it was important enough for her to mention it now, she'd probably be upset that he forgot it. On the other hand, he couldn't lie and say he knew what she was talking about.
He tried desperately to think about it and the only thing he could come up with was when he had grabbed Celina away from one of the Deva who had gotten too close. Drew had realized later that it had been her brother (which brought up a whole new set of issues in Drew's mind), but Felicity had gotten upset with him for putting his arms around Celina. Drew had tried to explain it and he still wasn't sure what he had done wrong, but hadn't really discussed the incident with Felicity much. It seemed to be all part of the whole thing he wasn't supposed to talk to her about.
But now that she was bringing it up, he wasn't sure if he should follow this particular vein and clear things up. And the bigger question was if he even needed to. Felicity loved him and she knew he'd never do anything like what she had accused him of. Was it necessary to bring it up when it really wasn't an issue? Or was it still an issue?
"That first night when the Deva were asking for our wands..." he said, needing to make sure that's what she was talking about. She couldn't still be upset about that, could she?
