"What a pretty night," Beni immediately commented the minute she got on the roof. It was the third night in a row that she escaped the four walls of her dorm to get on the tower's roof. Each night was pretty good as the next. The stars twinkled and the moon shyly came out of it's bashful clouds.
She settled down on the center, carefully laying down as to avoid a freak accident of falling down one of the tallest towers. Beni didn't mind the height at all. In fact, as she daringly looked down, she smiled. Everything looked far away and tiny where she was.
The instincts to go alone in the night to a secluded spot seemed to be a subconcious desire for Beni. During the day she was as accompanied and happy as could be. Her tales of her holidays were exciting and fun, and she felt like herself. However, as the day wore into night, so did the one rogue memory of her holiday. The blatant rejection of her father with just a fews words and a stare. Beni swashbuckled when he sent her on her way, but she seemed to be hyponotised by his words when she least expected it. It drove her solitude, and by the third night of this trip to the towers, Beni was realizing it herself.
She didn't want to leave, but she didn't happen to miss the company of others that were sleeping restfully in their dorms. "Anymore time here and I'll just look like some angsty fool," Beni said as a joke to herself. As she started to stand up, though, she realized that something-- better yet someone had responded to her presence.

Kian having been pumped up on sweets and caffeine had found himself unable to fall asleep so he'd taken to wandering the tower's. All he wore was a pair of pajama pants and a white t-shirt. He just hoped he didn't get caught since it was currently passed curfew and held onto the hope that everyone else in the school like his dorm mates were sound asleep in their beds.
Entering a tower that seemed pretty save and uninhabited he stuck his head out of one of the windows and took a deep breath of the crisp air. He couldn't believe how close the stars were that night so he decided to take a better look.
A finding a hold on the window sill he pulled himself outside onto the ledge and climbed onto the roof. Thinking he was alone he almost fell off the edge when he heard someone's voice in the darkness. Damn. He just hoped it wasn't a professor.
He raised his eyebrows at their words after his initial shock, "Angsty fool?" he repeated puzzled.

It was almost as a puzzling surprise to her as she was met with a answer. Or rather, a question. "Huh?" she started, but then realized that she had said something before. "Oh, yes!" Her eyes tried to meet that of the boy's. "Angsty. You know, always alone, never wanting company? Just being alone to stew in your unfortunate problems. I can't do that. I won't allow it." She shook her head to match her statement.

Kian moved away from the edge while trying to maintain his balance he didn't want to end up splattered on the ground that was extremely far down. He hadn't realized just how far down that was until that very moment.
He smiled slightly at the girl who seemed to have alot on her mind considering her former statement, "It's not good to stew. Do you want to talk about it or something?" he asked not wanting to be rude and not sure if the girl wanted to be alone.

Beni smiled, but it wasn't one of her usual grins. It was softer, and her eyes crinkled in gratitude. She wasn't sure she had encountered many people who was willing to listen to her problems. And although she tried to make it seem like an easy going life (to the point that she believed in it herself), she couldn't help think about the stumbles and trips of her adolenscent life.
"I think I'll be fine for now. But," Beni carefully put herself back in her intial spot. "I wouldn't mind a bit of company. Like I said, I don't want to be angsty fool. I like the company." She widened her smile and added, "Why are you here? Don't tell me you've got problems to think over." She laughed softly, not meaning to make it like an accusation.

Kian merely smiled at her reply and decided not to push it. After dealing with his sister over the years he'd gained alot of patience and understanding when it came to people's problems and ways of dealing with them.
he chuckled softly when she'd brought up being an angsty fool, "No nothing like that. I'm just wide awake from all the sweets and caffeine i had before attempting to fall asleep," he said as he made his way across the tile to sit beside her, "So i figured i'd take a walk and explore to burn of some energy."

"How do you plan to burn it up on a rooftop?" She said with curiosity as he explained his reasoning behind getting up on a roof in the twilight hours. Not that she could say anything about it, for she had done it for the last three days. And it was for reasons she that she seemed to take time to understand herself. "Or perhaps you've crash landed already and all?"

When she put it that way it didn't really make sense what he had said, "Oh. Well i was walking around the castle but then i entered the tower below us and looked out the window," he said with a slightly sheepish smile because of what she'd said, "The stars seemed really close so i wanted to get a better look so i came up here," Kian finished as he looked up at the sky and then back down at her.

Beni nodded, understanding how great of an opportunity this was not to miss. "That makes much more sense now that you say it. I like doing that, too-- looking at the stars. Never did it before until now. But it's so hard to see it in good ol' London when everyone and their grandmother has the light on at two A.M."
And as she looked up at it, she could honestly say then that she appreciated what saw. The stars gleamed and sparkled, like crystals embedded in the dark fur of an animal. She looked at it longer than she had before. Usually when she just looked up and around, she admired the landscape and its hills, valleys, and lakes. She had a hard time considering anything but the place she lived on.

Kian couldn't help but laugh at her words, "Where i used to live you could see the stars clearly. It's one of the things i miss most along with other things. I'm still trying to get used to this place and how different it is." And the fact that my sister's gone, he thought warilly as he looked up at the stars.
He closed his eyes and too a deep brath enhaling the air, "Sure is nice out here," he said opening his eyes and leaning back and little on his hands to get a better look, "Do you come out here often?"

"This is the third time in a row, to be honest," Beni said with a nod. "But I've never sneaked out before, really. But... I guess it's really worth it, eh?" She leaned all the way back, with her hands below her head and asked him, "You know, this might sound a bit... daft of me, but I have I ever seen you before? You look a tinge familiar to me."

"Is that bad," he said looking over at her with a puzzled look upon his face, "I like honesty keeps things open and makes it harder for bad blood to develop between people later on," he smiled slightly after he spoke, "If it's worth it than who cares. I think we have classes together," Kian said thinking it over, "I think i saw you but we never actually spoke. Speaking of that my name's Kian, Kian Crehonerex. And you are?"

"I guess I can't lie about me name, then," she said with a smirk. It didn't make sense, but these weren't the hours to make things logical and reasonable. "But I'm Beni Hendrix." She combed back her bright pink hair and looked at him. "It's odd. I've never even spoken a word to you, but in a small scenario such as this, it's as if we've talked for a long time now. But we probably would have found out if you went to the camp out last term." She laughed a little to herself, thinking about all the changes from then to now, and how she was geniunely surprised at meeting this boy for- technically-- the first time.

He only smiled at her remark, "Guess not. Well Beni pleased to meet you," he said before reaching into one of his pant pockets, "I was having to deal with alot of my sister's problems and my sister in general. I didn't really feel like going to something where people were goin' to be having fun," he said with a slightly thoughtful expression upon his face as he withdrew his hand from his pocket and along with it a bag of sour candy.
"Didn't want to be a downer," Kian said with a slight shrug, "Want some?" he asked offering the bag to her before taking a few and popping them into his mouth, "Got plenty. So what house are you in?" he asked with a smile. He knew he'd eventually have to start talking to more people for his own good and figured this was as good enough a time as any.

"Yeah, I know what you mean," said Beni as she nodded in agreeance. "I had an overall great summer this holiday around, but there's always something that I can remember that seems to ruin it for me." She didn't frown, but it felt like she did.
As Kian offered her some candy and made a remark, Beni made a small smile. "I don't think you were being a downer. Just... normal." Taking several of them, she put them in her mouth, chewing on them until she realized something. Her cheeks reflexively sucked in her cheeks and said, "What is this?" She wondered if maybe they were eating overripe or rotten candy.
