Outside the window that Vanessa stared out of, the snow was beginning to melt, but in more of a beautiful way than she'd ever imagined it would look. The quite girl sighed gently as she continued to smile and giggle to herself as she watched a couple of birds fluttering and dancing about the courtyard. The fountain, to Vanessa's ultimate surprise, never froze, and though she'd always would wait for the day it would, that day never came. In a way, it made her glad. The frozen water would sadden her... like it was, it was fluid and it was never-ending.
That's just how she liked things... flowing, never ending, and most of all... at peace.

Jason walked out of the common room and walked down. for some reason, he was in high spirits, he wasn't down, he was enjoying life. Maybe it was the first time in a while he got a full night of sleep. He didn't have any nightmares, and he was Finlay healthy again. He jumped down from the stair case and landed on the floor of the entrance hall. He stood up straight and looked around. a few students looked at him like he was crazy for jumping off the staircase. "what? its gonna be a good day" he said heading for the main door.
In the court yard he saw a girl laughing at the birds. He smiled and looked over at the fountain that she was also looking at. He walked up to her "amazing how that thing doesn't freeze up?" he said with a smile

Another's presence was heard jumping down from the staircase a bit further down the hallway. Vanessa looked over, her brown hair flipping slightly as she turned her head. Smiling as she noticed that the boy had taken site of the fountain as well, she turned her head to look back out the window and nod. "Isn't it, though?" she asked. The birds now landing on the top of the fountain where there was no water, Vanessa giggled again. It must have been their mating season, and the male bird must have been courting the female. "I wish I knew what kinds of birds they are... they're so beautiful," she said in slight awe.
Turning back to the boy, she smiled kindly and nodded again. "Did you come to enjoy the fountain, as well?" she asked him casually.

Jason looked over at the birds and turned his head slightly. he put his hands in his coat pocket "Finches?" he said "No? Yeah? Heck i don't know" Jason said shrugging. Jason never really payed attention to birds. Jason looked back at the girl.
Jason paused for a moment. He was going to walk the grounds and enjoy the improving weather, it wasn't bitterly cold for once and he was just gonna go walk. " Na i was gonna go walk the grounds and enjoy the day" he said with smile. "My names Jason by the way"

Vanessa looked at the birds and tilted her head to the side slightly to look at the designated markings of the birds. Brown and Black feathers, black beady eyes... "Could be finches I suppose... they look so lovely." Vanessa sighed and giggled, shaking her head slightly. She had to snap back into reality. Vanessa knew she wasn't being anything but annoying, and she looked back at the guy and smiled. "I find creatures absolutely interesting. Their habits are just like ours... any yet, people call them the primitive ones..." Vanessa shook her head, and giggled.
"Going for a walk? That sounds like a grand time," she said nodding and wishing she'd grabbed her jacket. Vanessa would have really enjoyed walking as well, and yet, she was only wearing her uniform, forgetting her heavier robes inside the Hufflepuff house. "Jason? I'm Vanessa." She paused. "Vanessa Sanderson."

Jason smiled "Its nice to meet you Vanessa" he said smile Jason turned and looked at the birds again slightly surprised that they would be out so soon. It wasn't bitterly cold but cold out none the less.
"I don't think there primitive, humans are the....." Jason stopped and thought about what he was going to say. "well some humans are the smartest living things on earth." Jason said leaning against one of the benches in the courtyard.
Jason looked back at Vanessa "Yeah i figured since the weathers improving I would come out and enjoy the day"

Vanessa smiled widely and sighed. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Jason." Her voice was soft, and she shied away slightly. Meeting a new person always made her stomach flutter slightly and she sighed, pushing her brown locks back behind her ear and kicking her foot slightly in the snow.
As Jason spoke about humans, her mouth was crooked as she thought about his words and inside herself, she agreed. Some people just didn't get it, and they were primitive. Who killed each other because they were unhappy with others? It didn't make sense to Vanessa, and she couldn't imagine why anyone would want to hurt others. Being happy was so easy... it just took a bit of hope, and using less muscles in one's face. "Some humans forget though that we don't have to be smart... it's all about being happy and just living life for what it's worth..." she said softly, laughing lightly as she spoke. "If everyone is so smart... then why are so many so unhappy?" she shrugged and shook her head.
Looking at the sky, she nodded and smiled. "It does look like spring is fast approaching. I can't wait. I love the spring..." Vanessa said. "The flowers that bloom are my favorite..." Rubbing her arms, the cold was beginning to get to her a bit, but she didn't say anything. There was nothing that needed to be said about it.

Jason smiled "I prefer summer and fall myself" he said smiling he thought about his summers in Seattle with his aunt and uncle out on the harbor. during the winter they took the boat out on the Baring Sea for crab.
"In the summer i go out to Seattle to my Aunt and Uncles to work in the harbor." he said smiling. "Right now there out on the Baring Sea crab fishing, I would go with them but I'm here" he said turning back to the fountain. He loved Seattle and was going to move there when he graduated. He wants to go out fishing with his Aunt and Uncle but the crab season was only in the winter.

Summer was nice, but sometimes it became too hot, and the humidity was a bit much for Vanessa. "Summer's sometimes to hot for me," she admitted bashfully. "And, I burn really easily..." she showed the boy her forearm where her skin was whiter than the snow it seemed. "If you ever catch me in the dark..." she said softly, giggling to herself. "I tend to glow." Of course she was joking around, but it was how white she believed herself to be.
As for Seattle... she had no idea where that was. "Is that in Italy?" she commented, wondering if her parents knew of such a place. They'd gone there for a vacation the year before, but Vanessa couldn't remember any of the names of the towns they had visited. "Seattle, that is... I'm not too sure where that is..." she said, shrugging slightly.

Jason's jaw dropped and laughed slightly "no no Seattle Washington, its in the United States" Jason said still laughing a little. Jason could not believe Vanessa didn't know where Seattle was. But the girl did probably did live in Europe her whole life so he guessed it was not that surprising.
" I don' worry about it getting to hot there, the temp in Seattle stays around 70 to 75 degrees...ferenhight" Jason said turning back to Vanessa. "that and its kinda cloudy most of the time" he said sitting on the bench.

It was true; Vanessa had spent her whole life in Europe, and really, only London. She'd never gotten out that much to see the world, for her and her brother had duties at home that needed to attend to when they weren't at school. "You've been to America? You have family there? That's brilliant," Vanessa smiled and laughed lightly, blushing because she'd been so naive. Italy... of all places, why did she guess that? Exhaling a breath, she hugged herself lightly.
She thought about the temperature differences and couldn't make the conversions. Again, celcius was what she grew up with, not Fahrenheit, but she said nothing about it. She figured it was cool because of the clouds and stuff. As Jason sat on the bench, Vanessa followed suit and sat down as well, thinking that it was funny that if he was going for a walk, he wasn't doing it real well by sitting down. "So..." Vanessa started, smiling softly. "...if you're sitting here, how are you taking that walk you were trying to take?"

Jason smiled. "Yeah my Aunt and Uncles Crab boats port of call is Seattle." He told her smiling "I love it there, never to hot, and i get to work on boats all summer"
Well she had a point, but Jason had all day. After all he had been the first night he had gotten a full night a sleep in a long time so he wasn't in too much of a hurry, he was just going to enjoy the day. He shrugged his shoulders "I got all day" he said turning his attention back to her. "So what part of Europe are you from" he asked he "My parents live outside of london"

It was so interesting, hearing about his connections to the other country. Almost as if he was connected to a whole other world. America sounded so different than Europe, and someday, Vanessa hoped to visit. But, as of right now, it was only a dream. "That sounds so great! I bet you have a lot of fun there..." she said nodding and smiling all the same.
And then she couldn't help but slightly smirk as he thought about her tiny jab. She didn't mean it to be mean, but actually, it was slightly obvious that he wasn't doing anything that he had planned because he found interest in talking with her. Liking that idea, Vanessa smiled even more because, though she was shy and didn't mind being by herself, she did like company once and a while. "Yes, that's true. The day is still young yet..."
She looked around and with the tips of her fingers, she dipped them slightly in the cold water of the fountain that the bench was located near. She giggled at the cool temperature, and then looked back toward the boy. "I live in the center of London. We have an apartment..." Vanessa shrugged. Her family was one of the few pureblooded families in a mostly all muggle building and community.
"Where outside of London do you live?" Vanessa asked.

She was right, Jason did like talking to her. He thought about Seattle and how the season was going for his Aunt and Uncle.
Jason smiled "really, like in the middle of the city, thats nice, everything close to you" he said looking over to her. "I live in Chelsea, its not to far from the city" he said "But when I'm home I'm only there for a few weeks at a time because my parents travel so much for work, so i normally spend my summers and breaks at my grandparents or at my Aunt and Uncles" Jason turned and looked back at her and smiled "I would rather live in the city, having everything near by would really be nice" Jason said still looking at Vanessa

Vanessa had always lived in the middle of the city, but she wasn't a real big fan of it. Too loud, too noisey, and there was always something going on that Vanessa wasn't really sure if she wanted to be a part of. "Yea, it's all very nice. I've just never been a fan of the city life." She lifted her shoulders slowly into a shrug, smiling sweetly as she did so. "Do you like cities then?" she asked Jason.
Vanessa nodded as she listened to the boy about his home and such, and understood. "I would love to travel someday..." her words trailed off as she exhaled a breath of air and looked around as the birds continued to twitter with one another. "What other places have you traveled to?" Vanessa asked curiously as she looked back at the boy and smiled widely. He had more worldly experience than she did and it made her want to know more.
