"Stupid trunk!" Patrick mumbled as he let the bulky object fall to the floor. After glaring at the trunk for a moment, Patrick gave it one swift kick, sending it nowhere. He then realized that he should probably take a look around. When Pat looked up at the entrance hall, he was speechless... for a moment. He shook his head a little to get his mind back to Earth. He sat on his trunk and decided to stay and watch for a while. Just to get a feel for the place.

"Someone is going to trip over you if you stay there," Allegra teased as she came into the hall. She had seen the boy enter and struggle with his trunk and had approached to see if he needed help. "I take it you're new. I'm Allegra. Nice to meet you!"

"GANG WAY!" Drew shouted as he slid down the main steps on his skateboard. While it had been a matter of days for him to get the new parts to fix his skatebaord, his face still had that raw pink color of new skin as a reminder of his last skateboarding adventure. Determined to get back up on the proverbial horse, he had decided to take the fast way down to the courtyard, meaning hew was rolling down the stairs instead of walking.
He had expected people in front of the door, but he hadn't expected them to just be sitting there and as he hit the base of the staircase, he slid to a stop a little to quickly causing a wipe out and a crash into the doors of the Great Hall.
Eh... as long as Solis hadn't seen it, he'd be good.

Patrick stood up to greet Allegra. "Hi, I'm Patrick Buchner. Nice to meet y--" Patrick cut himself off when he turned to see what someone was yelling about. By the time Pat saw what was going on, the boy on the skate board was attempting to stop, but it didn't look like he would be successful.
Forgetting his trunk was right behind him, Pat took a step back to try to avoid the wipe out. Instead, he tripped over his trunk, falling back wards. Trying to re-gain his balance, Pat took hold of the closest thing nearby, which happened to be Allegra's sleeve. Unfortunately, he still tipped over the trunk, taking his fellow Raven down with him.

Allegra's reaction had paralleled Patrick's and she grabbed onto the younger boy, mostly to protect him from her crazy brother. She too, took a step back, tripping over the trunk and landing on her back with her feet in the air.
"Drew!" she shoulted in frustration. Just like him to ruin a plesant welcome.

"Sorrysorrysorrysorry!" Drew cried out as he unstrapped his helmet and scrambled over to the two fallen people to help them up. Allegra he obviously knew, but the other kid was a stranger.
Great first impression, Thornton, he chided himself, though it was actually a common thing to knock over a newbie (and he had tried so hard to avoid it too). Eh... at least the new kid looked young enough to bounce back easily.

(is this open?)
"Eh..." Ivy, who had been walking around the halls heard a crash and Allegra's voice. Quickly following the ruckus was the unmistakable sound of Drew apologizing. She couldn't miss this! As fast as her high-heeled shoes would let her, she ran to the scene of the crime. "Aye, what's this? Drew, what did you do? Ai yah! Are you guys okay?" she said, rushing over to the second year boy-- forgetting momentarily about Allegra.
Oh my gosh! He's so cute! I want to keep him! "Aye...ku ai!" she squealed excitedly. How she loved new students...
If Drew didn't keep on killing hurting the new students, maybe there would be more...

(yep ) Still lying on the ground, Pat lifted his head and looked around and made sure everyone was ok. Physically, everyone seemed to be ok, so Pat let his head back to the floor and let out a hearty laugh. Pat somehow managed to untangle himself from Allegra and the trunk and stood up. He offered a hand to Allegra to help her up while apologizing to who he figured was Drew for being in the way. Then Pat realized there was another new face in the crowd, squealing something he didn't understand to him. "Well... this was an interesting way to start out, eh?" he smiled to everyone. "I'm Patrick Buchner."

"Hello Pat," Ivy said sweetly, smiling at him. "The name is Xin. Ivy Xin, I'm a seventh year Hufflepuff. Pleased to meet you," she bowed to him slightly, looking at the ground and then returned to his gaze. She caught a glimpse of bronze and blue. "Another Ravenclaw, eh? Aye, too bad... You might meet the other half of the dynamic Xin duo-- her name is Ash, and she's a Ravenclaw too."
Awwww! He's so cute! Too bad he's not in my house...
"So you're new, neh? Where you from?"

"Nice to meet you, Ivy." Patrick said, smiling at the older girl. "I'm a second year. And I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your... sister." He responded, assuming they were sisters.
"I'm from right outside of Newport, Wales. It's a muggle farm." He explained confidently. "How about you?"

Drew pulled his sister up and gave her an appologetic smile. He knew she was mad, but he also knew she'd forgive him for his stupidity soon enough.
He turned his attention to the other two, finding the conversation interesting. How would Ivy react to a farm boy? Hmmm...

"Dublin, Ireland-- er, but I was born in Shanghai," she said, without a trace of a Chinese accent. She held out her hand, but when she realized that he was a farm boy she withdrew it and scratched her head instead. "Farm, eh? I didn't even know they existed..." she said absentmindedly.
If he worked at a farm, chances was that he probably handled manure and cow utters and the sort... she would wait until a few days before touching his hands. "What do you do the farm? They must be rare, no?"

"Dublin, eh? I've always wanted to go there." Pat said as he reached out to shake her hand. When she withdrew it, He looked at her in shock for a moment. Jeez... I do wash my hands, you know.. Pat cleared his throat and continued the conversation. No use in starting out angry at someone, right?
"Erm... Well... Farms are fairly common in the muggle world. I'm not quite sure how many there are in the wizarding world, though." He said, re-collecting his thoughts. "I usually feed the animals and... well, take care of the after math. But I get to train the colts and break them in for showing and such. The sheep are my sister's responsibility."

"We have farms in the wizarding world too," Drew said with a small smirk, finding it interesting some of the assumptions people made about others. "Magical folks gotta eat too, right?" Drew glanced over at Ivy and smiled. He had definitely noticed the girl's reaction and thought it was typical, but still kind of funny.

"Yeah... I guess so." Pat said, looking at his feet. He gave a small laugh and smiled. "Mum never really explained much about the wizarding world other than spells." Pat then realized that the others might be a little confused. "Oh, sorry... Dad's a muggle... Mum's not. If that clears anything up."
