... He wasn't sure what holiday, but there was bound to be one near enough to work.
He had found a string of white twinkle lights in the Ravenclaw common room, amid the junk that was stuffed into Tariyar's old office, and was currently in one of the larger trees, seeing if he could hang them. Of course the plug wouldn't work, given that Hogwarts didn't have any electricity, but he thought he might know the spell to make them light up anyway.
And if it worked, he thought it would look pretty cool.

Toe in the ground, Brenton walked hiw way around the grounds and right into the courtyard. Things were kind of a bummer, the snow was beginning to melt and there weren't even any flowers to cheer him up there in the courtyard. Before the snow fell, he liked going outside and sitting in the flowers. Yup, he, Brenton, sat in the flowers to cheer up. It wasn't that he missed home, there wasn't hardly anything for him there since Mrs. Fortune had past. He was just sad sometimes.
His toe was in the ground because he was picking his way through, thinking about things, and just happened to drag the toe of his shoe into the ground. His school uniform covered his body, still not willing to wear anything other than pajamas that he owned. It was a good thing his mammee managed to buy him a couple sets of uniforms. Sure he was ruining them by wearing them so much, but everyone would laugh at his other clothes, he knew they would. It wasn't like he lived with the nicest bunch, other than Claire.
Lifting his amber eyes skyward, he thought he saw a monster in the tree. No, there were no such things as monsters, but there were such things as trolls! Where was Hannah when he needed her? She'd be able to do something, she'd know how to save the fairies the troll was after! But she wasn't there.
Time to be brave.
Pulling out his wand, he shakily held it out in front of him, pointed up at the troll. Brent wasn't the best at spells, but he could do them. "Wha' are ya doin'?" he nearly shouted. "Come down from there and ye won' be hur'."

A voice caught Drew's attention and he looked up from what he was doing... or in this case, down... to see a small boy, Slytherin by his robes, calling up. Drew wasn't too concerned by the kid and was ready to answer with a smile when the boy seemed to threaten him.
"Excuse me?" the Ravenclaw answered, raising an eyebrow at the small boy. Drew wasn't worried by the brandished wand. The older boy would most likely be able to defend himself from anything the kid tried, even without pulling his own wand.

"Ya... Ya hear' me, you foul creature!" Brenton shouted. There was a pause and he knew the hideous thing heard him. Trolls weren't deaf, just dumb according to books, especially his. Besides, he looked right down at the first year, he had to have heard him, because he paused, too, before he answered.
"I sai' ge' down here," he repeated himself. Why didn't the thing just listen to him? It'd be a bit less painful if he did. Even if him and Hannah weren't playing anymore, he still had to defend the fairies for her, even if he was her protector. She was the fairies protector, so really he was just skipping a step in the whole protecting business.
"I'll... I'll hex ya if ya don' do as I say!"

Drew really wasn't sure why this small boy was yelling up at him, calling him rude names and threatening him. Drew hadn't seen the kid before and was pretty sure he hadn't done anything to warrent such behaviour.
The Ravenclaw made himself a bit more comfortable on his perch before answering the boy down below. "And may I ask why?" Drew questioned, bridging the fine line between humor and annoyance.

Just like an arrogant troll would, the thing just took a relaxing position as if Brent had asked it about its appointment for the spa the next day. It truly was a foul creature, probably stank too. Trolls did, didn't they? The thing probably had ragged breath, terrible body odor, and most likely needed a good trimming around the toes and fingers while he thought of it.
"Because ya're tryin' t' ea' the fairies, tha's why!" Nothing but the truth would do here. This troll seemed highly intelligent, able to do more than grunt a few words. Perhaps he was in league with the evil witch and wizard (there were two now) and they made him smart. Likely.
"Now ge' down here and leave them fairies alone!"

The boy made very little sense, but Drew tried to work with what he thought the boy was talking about.
"They're a string of Muggle twinkle lights, not fairies," Drew told him, holding up a strand so that the boy might see them better. "And even if they were fairies, I'd hardly be eating them." Truth was, if they really had been fairies, they'd have cooperated much more than the twinkle lights were.

"I know wha' those are," he replied, exasperated. Muggle string lights, or twinkle lights, or whatever he wanted to call them, Brent knew what they were. And like he'd fall for the trick "I'm not going to eat fairies." One line used way too much. Brent was pretty annoyed the troll thought he could be all high and mighty and not do as he said, but best to save the magic for a last resort. Even running would come before then.
"I'm talkin' abou' the fairies ya're after. An' don' think ya can make me believe ya're no' after them, neither." Brenton may be small and young, but he was stupid. In fact, he was pretty smart if he said so for himself. And he did.

"Actually, using fairies would be easier," Drew told the small Slytherin, still not sure what the boy was talking about. He still wasn't about to go down and talk to the boy face to face though. He wanted to finish stringing the lights, and besides, it was best to keep some distance between him and the boy. "Fairies will do just about anything you ask them to as long as they get to be admired. Vain little things they are. I'd have this tree decorated in no time."

What kind of a nutter did the witch and wizard hire?!?!?!
The troll was going to admire fairies and then eat them? What was wrong with him? What kind of creepy thing... How could the witch and wizard... A troll? He was a monster! Whether they existed or not, this one had no other name. It was a troll monster. Did he really think he deserved a lit-up dinner? And a tree instead of just a regular candle? This thing had no falir at all.
"Leane the fairies ALONE!" he yelled again. Surely it would listen this time, after all, a few sparks exploded from the end of his wand.

Drew was a little taken aback by this young snake, mostly because he seemed to be slightly off his rocker. All the more reason not to get any closer to the boy.
"Dude... relax," Drew said, trying his best to calm the little Slytherin. As he spoke, he did a quick check to see that his wand was accessable. "There aren't any fairies up here and even if there were, I'm seriously not about to eat them."
Drew considered adding that they tasted bitter, but the Ravenclaw doubted the boy would appreciate the humor.

Huffing a sigh, he didn't like the troll. It was being a bloody idiot, not to mention he seemed to think Brent was one. He seriously though Brent thought the lights were fairies? Please. And there had to be fairies up there somewhere, being the troll was up a tree. But why would it be playing with muggle string lights? Didn't make sense, that one. Whatever, it was troll.
"You're a liar!" he called out, more bravely than he felt. "Trolls ea' fairies, Hannah sai' so." Quickly covering his mouth, he wondered if the witch and wizard were around listening. Would Hannah be in more trouble now than ever? And if she was, it was all his fault. Some protector he was turning out to be.

"Wait... you know Hannah?" Drew asked, hoping he had enough of an understanding with the girl to use her name in order to get out of this sticky, and possibly volitile, situation. "She's a Ravenclaw, like I am."
"Dude, I don't know what's with your fairy fixation, but they like the woods a heck of a whole lot better than the courtyard," he told the boy. "And I don't know how we got on the troll subject, but they don't eat fairies. They like to eat much bigger stuff." Such as humans, but Drew wasn't going to scare the kid if he could help it.

Oh no. He'd done it now. The troll knew Hannah! It would figure the evil witch and wizard would not only find a smart troll, but update it on the situation and everything involved as well. But why did it think he was dumb enough to fall for lies? Ravenclaw? Yea right.
This was true. Brent knew fairies preferred the forest, which was why he and Hannah went searching for them in the forest, but why else would a troll be climbing in a tree, playing with string lights, and close to the castle at that?
Hannah! Of course, the troll was after Hannah. Brenton was stupid for thinking the troll was after fairies, he wasn't. It was after Hannah! And they did too eat fairies, they were like a delecessie. But it didn't matter now, he had to try and save Hannah.
Holding his wand out in front of him, he was ready with a spell if he needed it. "You're no' gettin' Hannah! Come down, now!"

Putting troll and delicacy would be the biggest oxymoron known to wizarding kind, of course and Drew would have gotten a good laugh out of it. Maybe it was better all around that the small boy kept that thought to himself.
It was almost as funny hearing the claim that he was after Hannah. She was a cute Littlebird, but waaaaaaaay too young for Drew. Besides, Jeremy would have gone majorly postal if he thought his cousin was after the little girl.
The brandishing of the wand was getting a little bothersome, so much so, that Drew didn't bother laughing at the boy's accusation. Instead, Drew pulled his own wand and aimed it at the boy. He wouldn't hurt the firstie, but he sure as heck was going to defend himself.
"I strongly suggest you calm down," Drew warned, eyeing the boy carefully. So much for a fun and relaxing afternoon.
