[ Physical Character Description: ]
Standing at a height of 6’4’’, Alexander Griffiths has an air of a highly respected man. Alex has a good body build, and it compliments his Italian-Roman stature. Alex has short, black/dark brown hair. His eyes are dark clouded orbs that is good for hiding emotion, it carries a clear message “I’ve seen it all, but there are still things I don’t understand”
Elegance is no question for Alex, whatever he wears looks good on him. He isn’t picky, whatever his parents decide to spoil him with, he would accept it. He would get his clothes dirty because of his job though, it was no question. Besides, when you deal with tombs that describe history and ruins that need to be dug up…who needs to be clean?
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Mysterious, artistic, and fun. Few words to describe Alex, but not really define him. He would easily be known as a friend and yet there is still the respect that you should show him. He is easy to become one’s friend, but he is also one’s worse nightmare when you meet his bad side. This is his mysterious side, you’ll never really know what comes in Alex’s mind until he’s already shown it. He surprises people with his ways and his strange appearances, he seems to just pop out of nowhere. Don’t be too shocked it’s just the way this mysterious man goes. His artistic side comes when inspiration hits him and he could go at it for hours until he’s done with it,
Even though this is Alex, all the friends he had never were enough to help him. He is now just another researcher spending half his life with ancient artifacts and books that needs to be translated for history’s sake. Alex is broken inside, he would never show it to anyone of course. He keeps to himself more often than before and his smiles don’t reach his eyes when you observe it. You can never really see the real Alex, only the mask he had decided to put on.
[ History: ]
Having a family was something that Loreta Griffiths had always wanted since she had gotten married to Niccolo Griffiths in August of 1960; a pureblooded magical and happy family. What she hadn’t realized, however, just how hard that would turn out to be. Her first son Raffaele was born five years after she got married, in 1965. He was a squib, and never obtained the magical gifts her and Niccolo’s family was known for. This also was true for her next son she had born five years later, Ulisse and to their youngest daughter, Valeria, whom was born in 1980. However, Loreta did produce one son whom was able to retain the magical ability within his blood stream. His name was Alexander born in May of 1974, and this was the son whom she treasured the most.
There was obvious favoritism since Alexander first started to show signs of magic when he was five years old. It was the basic ‘I-want’ and all of a sudden things were floating towards him because he had wanted it that badly. Loreta was ecstatic and couldn’t believe her luck had finally come through for her, as was Niccolo. Both parents were overjoyed, however, his older brothers of five and ten years, were not so enthralled. Many times Raffaele and Ulisse would try to talk Xander, as he was called when he was younger and throughout his school career, into doing things that were either unhealthy or unwise to do. One time, out of pure foolishness on all of the boy’s parts, an accident occurred leaving Xander with scars along the front and backside of his torso. It was then his mother and father decided that it was time Xander went off to live with his grandparents whom had immigrated to England year’s prior. Alexander was nine years old at this time.
Moving in with his Nonna and Nonno was probably one of the best experiences for Xander, but also one of the worst. They were extremely wizard orientated. Both purebloods, the Griffiths, Niccolo’s parents, taught Xander the meaning of what it was to be pure and their prejudices against muggles and the muggle community. However, due to the fact that he had grown up in a muggle community with his parents, and his siblings were all squibs, Xander found their teachings incredibly harsh and not something that he had ever agreed with. However, from them he learned some of his own prejudices, mostly towards those of purebloods whom were over extreme when it came to muggles and other humans. He didn’t agree with them, and it was only proved further when he started to attend Hogwarts in the year of 1985.
When receiving the letter that his Grandparents knew he would receive since all of their family had reveled in the school’s borders at one time or another, other than his unfortunate siblings, and within one house or another within the school. The house that the majority of his family had ever been sorted into, though, was the Slytherin house itself. One house that they prided themselves on being in, and yet, Xander hoped never to enter. The rest of his family that had attended Hogwarts, at one time or another, varied in houses. They ranged from Hufflepuff to Ravenclaw to even Gryffindor, and with the part of his judgmental discriminatory family being associated with the serpent household, Xander hoped and wished that he too had been a random Griffiths, and sorted into any other house. It wasn’t that he had heard anything bad about the house itself…he just didn’t want to be like those in his family that had come out of it.
Ravenclaw, however, and his mother’s house, sounded perfect to him as it rang throughout the Great Hall, signaling to himself and to his family that he was to be a different Griffiths. His grandparents weren’t as pleased as he would have wished them to be, but they settled, for they weren’t bad people…they just were old fashioned and stuck in their traditional ways. Throughout school, Xander kept to himself studying diligently, trying to become the best at what he did for himself, knowing that he didn’t have anything to prove to anyone but himself. He worked hard and suffered as much as any school student did…if not a little bit more. He was a shy kid that took a bit of getting to know before he would open up to anyone. He had his fair share of friends, but at the same time, he knew what he wanted and how to get there. By doing that he studied and learned, not only from himself, school, and books…but also from others. In his later years of school he had to face some of the hardest decisions of his life, one being leaving the school he loved, and those he loved within it behind to go off, graduate and study ruins in different parts of ancient Rome and the world. It was something he would have never regretted, but at the same time, always would wonder if was the right decision to make at the time he made it.
A year after he graduated, his Nonno died due to natural causes; a few months later his Nonna died from a broken and lonely heart. Alexander, as he is now known in his professional life, keeps in close contact with his family and has somewhat mended the ties between his older brothers. Still grudges are held, and most of the time none of the Griffiths boys talk, but the family still lives and communicates with one another. To be closer to them and closer to the world he grew up in, Alexander found a calling back to Hogwarts through an add he saw in the Daily Prophet for a teaching positions at Hogwarts; one of the position being what he had left Hogwarts doing, studying Magical History. Applying, Alexander hoped that this was what his life was meant to be for, and couldn’t wait to start out his life at Hogwarts…or rather he wanted to try to regain what he lost from it when he left.
What Alexander didn’t realize though, was truly how much that could be done…by just applying.
[ Pros and Cons : ]
One of the things that made Alex himself was his love for books, he always never passes up a chance to hit the books and read. It’s also one of the things that sometimes drive him into sickness, he’d always ignore food or sleep when he needs to finish a book. When it comes to books, it’s hard to pull him away
He is not a creepy bookworm or anything though, he is friendly and wouldn’t pass a chance to help someone. His knack or jokes and mysterious look makes people interested in him, he judges by the heart and not the look, he could see people as they truly are, and not as they seem to be.
As friendly as he is, Alex’s patience is minimal, but a bit controlled, unless pushed. He would blow up once you hit a nerve or even insulted one of his friends too much, as much as he tries not to. Alex is a protective person and his temper makes people wonder why he had such a temper when they always see a friendly guy. Temper comes rare, but his temper is a force that scares even him at times.
On the contrary to his temper, Alex is determined to learn from past experience and past failures. He would try to at least learn something new to help in his research concerning ruins and such, sometimes when they have amateur apprentices, Alex would try to help them.
Though his determination can sometimes take him off track of the research, he would forget things and leave them undone. It wasn’t the best of things to see Alex as especially since he was seen by his colleagues as a person that would help them clear things.
Alex could always ask help when needed though and he would always be ok with the fact that he needs help and he wouldn’t be hurting his pride at all. If help was needed, Alex would get help. He wouldn’t hesitate to ask his colleagues if something wasn’t in his area or if he was unsure of something. Books didn’t always help.
[Credentials:]
After finishing at Hogwarts Alex came back to Rome and spent a year with his family, then he said his “arrivederci” to his family and left for a country in Asia, the Philippines. He studied there on a private school for muggles named, University of St. Thomas. He took a course on muggle Archeology to add to things he know about ancient history and facts, he needed the knowledge so he could easily be able to tell the history of such things. He studied there for 4 years(1994-1997) and was one of the top 10 students to graduate at the university. He then applied for an assistant teaching job at the University of the Philippines where he was the assistant of the muggle history professor. After 2(1998-1999) years of working as an assistant, Alex was finally qualified as a history professor. He worked in the muggle university for 2(2000-2002) years only, then he quit his muggle job and then applied as a wizard archaeologist. He and a few other archaeologists, both muggle and wizard, went around the world to study the history behind the ruins all across the globe. He spent 5 years in the study of muggle and wizard history, uncovering ancient secrets and teaching was the things that Alex could combine to his great passion in history and discovery.
