[ Name: ] Beau James Hopkins
[ Country of Citizenship: ] UK
[ House: ] Hufflepuff
[ Year: ] Fifth
[ Physical Character Description: ]
Beau stands at a height of 6’1, a good six inches or so over his twin sister Ellie. He’s a few inches shy of his father’s height and is sure to grow more still. His curly locks of brown hair are generally unkempt and grow to a longish state much to the annoyance of his mother. He is an ordinary male teenager, his looks both boyish and mannish in different ways. He has very long eyelashes, a quality that all of his sisters envy him for. They find it hard to believe that eyelashes as long as his should be wasted on a male body. He couldn’t agree more with them. His skin is a soft, pale shade of ivory, he hardly gets very tan in the summer time despite the amount of time he spends outside.
While Beau’s name means ‘ beautiful ‘ in French, he finds himself just to be an average everyday teenager. He has a lean body, kept fit from various sporting activities such as soccer and running. He enjoys being active and his body reflects it. His sense of style, or lack thereof, isn’t anything special at all. Beau is more of a jean’s and t-shirt kind of guy when he’s not in his school uniform or dressed in wizarding robes. His eyes are a lovely shade of green but tend to change at times to a dark blue or gray color.
[ Personality Character Description: ]
Beau is, at most times, the opposite of his sister. He is a very relaxed person, quiet and calm unless angered. He is patient when it comes to just about everything. The only annoyances he can really complain of are when people deliberately try to get on his nerves. In those cases he tries his best to stay calm, but usually ends up getting very upset with them.
Generally, to Beau, it appears that everything he does is compared to his sister. He doesn’t do as well in school as she does, so he constantly compared to her. He hates this, and a lot of time he wishes that they weren’t twins. He could deal with the siblings bit of things, but being twins gets on his nerves at times. It’s more the fact that everything he does is put up again what his sister does. Because of this, he’s very critical of himself and how he does in school. He isn’t what people would call book smart, he’s more about common sense. Schooling has never been his forte. He does reasonably well in school, just not nearly as well as his sister does.
Beau is a very helpful person, he likes to help people when they need it and even when they don’t. He can be shy when he doesn’t know too many of the people he’s around. He’s never been the best person at making friends and is just the opposite of his social butterfly sister. He prefers to hide away in his own little world rather than venture out and meet new people. The adolescent is very much into music, he has recently picked up the guitar and can hardly ever be found without his iPod on. He’s a bit of a music buff even though he doesn’t play much of it.
The fifteen year old is a good worker and doesn’t mind helping out around the house. Things like yard work and cleaning up never bugged him much, he doesn’t mind lending a hand when it comes to chores. He’s a generally tidy person, keeping all of his cd’s and schoolbooks in alphabetical order. He’s not quite obsessive about it, but it does start to bug him when things are out of order from the norm.
He’s loyal to his family and friends – well, the few he has. He always thinks that he just needs an opportunity to break out his shell and get away from always being in his sister’s shadow. Beau feels that he can do better than how he is now, shy reserved and quite frankly, a little boring.
[ History: ]
Family-
James Allen Hopkins and Jane Elizabeth Malory met by chance on a lovely evening in October at Hogwarts. The two quickly grew close and became ‘ high school sweethearts. ‘ James, being the proud and boastful Gryffindor that he was, encouraged Jane, the shy and reserved Ravenclaw that she was, to come out of her shell. The two’s friendship grew from liking one another to love. Soon after their graduation at Hogwart’s, the two got married. And so begins the Hopkins family.
Their first child, Megan, was born when the two were only nineteen years old in 1971. With the help of both of their parents, the two teens quickly settled into a nice little life in London. They had their own little flat to themselves with their quickly expanding family. And their family soon did expand. In 1975, James Jr. was born, followed by Kenzie in 1981 when the adults were twenty nine years of age. James Hopkins supported his family by various means. His father had been an entrepreneur, pioneering his way into the Wizarding economic scene with his business that created odds n’ ends for wizarding house-holds. James eventually went the way of his father, taking over the business. Jane was a stay at home mother and took care of the still growing family. In 1983 their second son, Allen was born. He was named after Jane’s father, Allen Malory. The two decided to wait a while before trying for another child again. The business was booming, and things were very busy around the house with most of the children in Hogwarts by now.
Nine years after the birth of their son Allen, Jane and James were delighted by the news of the soon-to-be birth of their fifth and sixth children. Yes, twins. The two were as excited as ever to welcome their new children into their homes.

The Twin’s History-
September 2nd, 1992. A dreadfully rainy day, in most people’s opinion. To Jane and James Hopkins, however, it was a beautiful day to welcome their new children into the world.
From the time the twins were small, everyone paid attention to them. People passing in the streets, their older siblings, family members. Twins weren’t such an oddity that none of them had ever seen them before, but Beau and Jane looked so much alike that it was hard to tell them apart. Eventually their parents wisened up and began to dress them in different colors, soft girlish colors for Ellie and dark boyish colors for Beau. As the children grew older there became more of a difference between them, Beau growing into a handsome young man and Ellie growing into a lovely young woman.

Beau’s History-
Beau’s first memory is of his and his sister’s third birthday party. Growing up their was always two of everything for the twins, two pretend brooms, two teddy bears, two sets of crayons, two everything. One thing that the twins always shared, though, was their birthdays. Birthday parties were always big events in the Hopkins household, the older kids would come back home, Grandpa’s and Grandma’s would come from out of town to visit. A lot of times at the parties, Beau would shy away from everyone, not enjoying the attention.
Beau had a relatively normal childhood. The only thing he ever really recalls finding constantly tiresome was his sister always outshining him. Beau didn’t mind being the odd one of the two, he found he could get more done when everyone else was focusing on Ellie instead of him. He and his twin sister didn’t get along so well when they were younger, but Beau was close with both his father and his brother Allen who was nine years his senior. He enjoyed spending time with them, going fishing from time to time and camping on the weekends. Beau grew to be a very outdoorsy type of person, close with nature as his sister called it.
As his older siblings came and went in the house-hold, Beau found his only constant companion was his twin sister. Everyone grouped them together, and at the age of ten, Beau decided that maybe it was such a bad thing? It was at this age that he decided maybe his sister wasn’t so bad. He made an effort not to annoy her so much by putting toads into her bed and worms into her cereal as any obnoxious ten year old would find amusing. As they grew older and attended Hogwarts themselves, Beau learned to rely on his sister. He never made his way out of his own little shell, and was always more comfortable around his sister than other people his age.
It was no surprise to Beau or his family that he was accepted to Hogwarts. His father was a pureblood wizard and his mother a muggle-born witch who had both attended Hogwarts, and all of Beau’s siblings had attended the school as well. He quickly found his small little niche in the school, and it was indeed small. He made a couple of friends, not many, but enough for him.
[ Pros and Cons : ]
One bad thing about Beau’s character is that if he feels offended or feels like someone is insulting him and trying to bring him down, he just shuts down. He completely ignores the person and whatever they said instead of defending himself. He’s fiercely independent, but has always been terrible at defending himself. No matter what someone says to him, he doesn’t feel as if he can retaliate. This can be both bad and good, depending on the circumstances.
Beau is shy, which is a large downfall to his personality. He’s been told that he’s a great person, he just needs to learn to open up to people. He tries sometimes, but often the timing was wrong or he tried with the wrong people, which resulted in him being shut out again, so after a time, he sort of gave up. Every so often he tries to extend his small circle, either on his own accord or by prodding and poking from his sister. He’s always felt like he was in the shadow of his sister, academically, in the family, and even with friends. It always seems like he’s one step behind the girl when it comes to keeping up with everything. Beau knows he’s smart, he’s not a stupid boy, he’s just not what people would call book smart. He resents this fact greatly, envying his sister for her academic achievements.
Beau is easy to get along with once he opens up to someone. He can be funny and sarcastic when first meeting someone, and this is usually his way to tell whether or not the person will stick around. He has abandonment issues at times, and hates being left behind. Messing around with someone like that is his way of testing their tolerance. He doesn’t like to put much effort into forming a friendship unless he knows that the friend is going to be around for a while.
There are also a lot of good things about Beau, like the fact that he’s just a good guy. He’s giving and selfless on most occasions and very patient. He tries his best not to stress about things like school events and family gatherings, preferring to let the people around him worry about the details.
