Accepted! The Ministry wishes you a pleasant day.
[ Full Character Name: ] Deryn Morgan
[ Character Gender: ] Female
[Character Age:] 18 turning 19
[ Position: ] Auror-in-Training
[ Country of Citizenship: ] Wales
[Years of Employment at Ministry:] 1/4 a year (summer job with father Alun Morgan in Auror office)
[ Physical Character Description: ] Deryn is a tall, strong girl. She has blue/green eyes and long dark brown hair that falls just past her shoulders. It is naturally straight, although Deryn sometimes (if she's in the mood) will style it. She's a very pretty girl as well and when she smiles, she's got a cute dimple on her right cheek. She's 5' 6'' and while she is pretty strong, her body doesn't really look it. She's been playing Quidditch most of her life though, so she's in fairly good shape with a slender body.
While she's a pretty girl, Deryn doesn't really dress on the girly side. When it came to the school uniform, Deryn always wore the trousers instead of the skirt with her robes until her final year at Hogwarts when she opted for the skirt instead. However with Muggle clothing, Deryn is usually a bit of a tom boy. She doesn't like girly clothes except for jeans. Normally, she can be found in a pair of those with just a simple t-shirt or sweater. Unlike most teenage girls, Deryn doesn't really enjoy having to dress up. She's not really picky about her clothing either. That doesn't mean she doesn't care what she looks like, because she does. She just doesn't care about brands and labels like a lot of people do. She's a thrift store kind of shopper, when she goes shopping, that is. Yet another girly thing Deryn doesn't enjoy.
[ Personality Character Description: ] Deryn is a very ambitious girl and very outgoing. She is already ready to take on any task, big or small, safe or dangerous and will complete it to the best of her ability. She has a deep love of Quidditch and practices with her dad during the summer. She is a superb Chaser but it is not her goal in life. She hopes to one day be an Auror. Deryn is a funny girl. She can make people laugh when they need it, but others also know when to take her seriously. She is dedicated to her heritage of magic and will practice any spell you throw at her until she’s mastered it. She’s very hard on herself and doesn’t give up easily.
Deryn is a very determined girl, often called stubborn and hard-headed as well. She doesn't like to give up and usually doesn't. She doesn't change her mind easily and but she does forgive quite easily. She's got a kind heart buried under the tough girl kind of act and is really a nice girl. She can also be a little bit on the flirty side too, although it’s never anything really serious. Deryn gave up on the romantic thing long ago, but is currently finding herself infatuated. She's not the kind of girl to fall in and out of love easily anymore, and Deryn really doesn't trust people that easily, especially when it comes to her heart. However, she knows all her heart has to go into Auror training as of right now and there isn't much time for anything else.
[ History: ]Deryn has a somewhat dark history. In the year after Lord Voldemort’s return (she is not scared to speak his name) her mother who worked at the Ministry was captured by him and his lot and tortured until she gave them the information they needed. She was missing for almost 3 months before Ministry workers found her body. Deryn, at the tender age of seven, vowed to become an Auror to track down and capture those who took her mother away. Deryn was raised by her father, who is an ex-Auror, and he taught her everything he knew. He also taught her how to play Quidditch and how to look after herself. Although they are a pure-blood family, Deryn and her father live in a Muggle suburb. When he lost his wife, Deryn’s father moved them away from all their wizarding friends, not wanting to be reminded of his wife. Deryn went to a Muggle school for a few years, but when she turned 11, she needed to change over into magical school.
Deryn started off her magical training at a smaller school in Wales. Her father wasn’t keen on sending her away to Scotland for school and wanted to keep the girl closer to home. It was a good school and Deryn made a lot of friends while she was there. However, for reasons unknown to Deryn at the time, she was pulled out of the school before she started her fifth year. It was later revealed to her that her father, an Auror, had heard of Dark wizards on the faculty at this school. Left with no choice, Deryn was finally sent off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to complete her magical training.
Since coming into Hogwarts in her fifth year, Deryn has had quite the experience. Her first night in the castle was definitely one to forget, considering it involved her, pink pajamas and a couple boys in her house. However, besides that, it was an overall pleasant experience. With a couple favourite classes and some not-so fun one, Deryn came out of Hogwarts with a pretty good knowledge of magic and magic theory. Hogwarts was one of the best experiences of Deryn's life so far and she's grateful to have had the chance to attend it. Now Deryn's got her heart set on being an Auror and after taking a year off, heading into training with what she hopes to be a vast enough knowledge of self-defense, charms, spells and curses.
[ Pros and Cons : ] Deryn is normally a very calm but outgoing kind of girl. She knows how to have fun and loves laughing, but she also knows when enough is enough and when to get serious. But sometimes when Deryn gets all serious and really into something, she gets too into it. She gets too involved in things really fast and more often than not, the phrase “leap before you think” comes to mind. Deryn really likes to help other people, but in the process, she often forgets to help herself. She gets caught up and worked up quickly and then had trouble getting out of the sticky situations she finds herself in all the time.
On the outside, Deryn seems like a confident girl. Most of the time, she’s got a smile on her face and tries to be happy. And it’s not as though Deryn is damaged or anything, she just hasn’t really had the best life. Since her mom died, Deryn’s had a lot of trouble letting people in and trusting them. She doesn’t like to get too close to people, more out of fear of losing them than anything else. She took a big chance when she became friends with Finn and had a couple romantic relationships, but nothing solid ever came out of them. When things get too serious, Deryn panics and looks for a reason to end things. She doesn’t like to commit and hates being dependant on someone. Deryn likes doing things on her own and is stubborn when it comes to accepting help. The upside to it though is that she’s learned she actually can do things on her own and she’s strong enough mentally to get through anything.
All her life, Deryn had more than enough encouragement from her parents that she could achieve anything. But since her main source of encouragement has been gone, Deryn often finds herself second-guessing her abilities. She knows she has what it takes to be an Auror, but it still scares her that she might fail. She hates failing, especially when she promised herself so long ago that she would make it onto the force for her mom. Deryn doesn’t want to let her mom or her dad down but she knows the long road that’s ahead of her and is ready to fight for it.
[Credentials:] As her father is an Auror as well and has been for many years, he taught Deryn most of what he knows. Also, Deryn spent a summer when she was 14 working a summer job in the Auror office doing paperwork and learning how everything worked.

[Writing/Role Playing Example:] “Dad, come on. Are you kidding me? No. No, no, no, no, not happening. No, I’m not doing it. No! I’ll see you later. Bye,” Deryn hung up angrily. She was sitting at his desk in the Auror department already, waiting for her friend to show up on their first day at training. Her father was trying to make her tell the instructing Auror who she was and who her father was but Deryn didn’t want that. She didn’t want special treatment, just because her dad was Alun Morgan. She hated that most of the Aurors knew that anyways and were probably going to treat her differently. That and the fact that she was a girl, trying to be an Auror. In all the time Deryn had spent in this office during her childhood, she’d only ever seen five or six female Aurors out of the 20 or so she knew personally. That made this whole experience even more terrifying. Being the daughter of an Auror was going to either make everyone way harder on her, or take things too lightly on her. Deryn didn’t want any of that, she wanted to make a name for herself and be treated the same as everyone but she knew that was pretty far fetched.
Glancing up at the clock, Deryn noticed it was getting closer to 9:00am and she needed to go out and meet Finn. With a sigh, she looked around the office again, praying that one day this was going to be her office too. It will be. Nothing can stop you. You can do it, Deryn tried to convince herself. The words sounded nice, Deryn Morgan, Auror and she would have given anything to achieve it. Holding her head high, she walked out of the office, heading in the direction of the lift to meet Finn.
