{This is for any fourth year and above who has ALREADY taken at LEAST one year of COMC. If you have not, you will need to join the beginning class}
Becca had spent the good part of the summer searching out a replacement for her first lesson. Morningstar, the unicorn she had raised from a foal, had grown to maturity and Becca had been obligated to set him free at the end of the school year to live in the forest as he was meant to.
Morningstar, apparently had different plans. August had barely started when a familiar equine showed his horsey face around Becca's stables. While she tried to discourage him from staying around, he was determined as if he knew he had a job to do come September. Becca knew her hoofed friend well and finally gave in, letting Morningstar stay in his own stall next to Tony the Abraxan.
The first day of classes dawned a glorious September morning, perfect for an outside class. When dealing with the larger animals, Becca usually held class in the great pen outside. anyway, so things worked out perfectly. Morningstar had grown quickly and, at four and a half, stood majestically in preparation for his lesson. Even after spending the summer in the forest, he had not gotten as temperamental as many of his breed did around humans, but Becca had yet to see him around boys. The unicorn had still tolerated the young males, but the Professor could tell it was barely tolerated.
At the moment, both Professor and unicorn were still in the stable, unseen by the class. The hut was locked up, the standard signal for the students that class would be outside. Hopefully the students would remember to stay outside of the corral until instructed to enter.

Breakfast had been uneventful, and the day was looking more and more dismal to the young lad as he left the Great Hall, in route to his next lesson. From there things hadn't brightened, other than he got to see a few friends. his poor plants were in need of attention and he could feel the itching need to give them such attention fighting him to skip lessons already, this early in the year. Why? he wasn't sure.
Heading toward the classroom, Dustan was a bit taken aback when the door wouldn't budge. Just what did this nutty professor have in store for them that day? Davenport was alright but she just seemed a few screws loose of a full set at times. Not that he minded, other than he still stuttered around her too. What was wrong with him? Probably a few screws short as well.
Turning around, the boy kicked his way over to the fenced corral, rather hoping the door had just been locked accidentally and the lesson really would partake inside instead of out. Dustan was a bit shy around the creatures still, no matter what they were, even puffskiens. he much preferred his plants to animals any day.

Dark hair flying behind her from the wind, Abigail walked slowly down toward the Care of Magical Creatures classroom. These past days had gone quite well. A sort of glow found a new home in her. Cheeks rosy from finally meeting people, eyes wide with glee as they were finally opened to the world. Everything seemed to be going well for dark haired Gryffindor. One foot in front of the other she kept a steady pace. With a free hand she brushed some wayward strands of hair out of her eyes. Glancing around in front of her she noticed someone walking. It was Dustan.
Something about him sent seismic shock waves through her stomach. He was the first person who she spoke to, the first person who she really liked. Their stuttering ways went unnoticed when they spoke to each other. Sadly since school started their time together was minimum if there. Feeling a shot of confidence she strode up to him, half jogging/half running. Out of breath she stopped a few yard behind him to find her breath again.
"H-hey Dustan." Her voice was slightly girly, an almost excited tone. Abigail inwardly cursed herself for such a weird sound to come from her body. She let it pass as she walked beside him. "Ho-how are you?"

A fleeting look of excitement flitted over the young man's face, but it didn't last very long. he couldn't be that excited, though he was glad to have made a new friend, and one in an elective was even better in the slytherin's opinion. The way Abigail spoke didn't bother Dustan in the least, though it did make him feel slightly better about his own speech. But did she only speak like that around Dustan or just in general? he tried his best not to pay too much attention, trying not to seem over eager about anything, but at the same time keep interested in her.
A smile settled in on his lips, taking in the sight of the out-of-breath girl who had turned up quickly near him. "He--hey," he greeted back, trying to sound nonchalant. "I--I'm goo--good, how ar--are yo--you?" A question for a question, nothing too personal nor to demanding. If some of her friends showed up it wouldn't seem like anything was going on other than casual conversation, and if they didn't, well, he still had her in conversation, right? Right.

As soon as the bells chimed the hour, Morningstar neighed and shook his mane, indicating that he was ready for his audience. Becca often wondered if growing up at the school had made the unicorn slightly vain, but there wasn't much she could do about it, especially now.
The professor pushed the stable doors open and without any prompting, Morningstar cantered out to the yard, holding his head up proudly so the students could see how exquisite he actually was. Becca rolled her eyes slightly as she closed the doors and followed behind.
"Yes, yes, yes. We all are quite impressed with you," she announced sarcastically before turning to her small class. "And welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen, to Intermediate Magizoology. As you can see, our first lesson is on Unicorns and we have a rather proud specimen joining us. So before we begin, who can give us some information on this particular beast?"
