A faint tinge touched her cheeks as he spoke, the thought of him just wanting to spend time with her make her miss him more. Why did she have to return for another year? Her mum hadn't ever finished and she'd done fine for herself. If Felicity hadn't returned, it wouldn't have been a huge loss, other than she would've missed a number of her friends, but otherwise, nothing. Muggle school wasn't so bad, and she would be on the sports teams, she'd participate in church, work, attend clubs. Honestly, it wouldn't have been so bad.
"I'm more interested in you," she answered, staring directly at him, her hand reaching through the fence to touch his face. "How have things been? You're training?" Though he'd written her numerous times of the subject, she wanted to hear it from him, knowing his voice would sound better telling her than her mind trying to recreate his husky tone while reading his letters.

"Me? Things are going the same. Mostly paperwork and running errands," he answered with a smile, feeling it was kind of a funny question. He wrote her every day and told her just about everything that was going on. Just about. He hadn't felt the need to tell her about the overly friendly secretary who liked to grab his bum and press herself up against him. If she had gotten mad at him for hugging Celina that once, he really didn't want to see her reaction to that.
"I got a meeting with the Head of the Department though," he answered, feeling kind of proud of that. "He seemed pretty cool and said he'd like to try me on some bigger stuff."

"All ready?" she asked, a bit astonished. He'd only just started, shouldn't he still be doing paperwork and little things? Like grabbing the coffee? They couldn't rightfully place him to do something larger than that yet, could they? How could they have prepared him for anything of the sort in the few short two months he'd been working there? Honestly, there was no way. Maybe bigger stuff meant carrying letters to more important people? Having him go through a few files that were a tad more classified? Surely nothing dangerous, right?
Though she knew he was a skilled Wizard, they couldn't have prepared him enough to do such a task more than something really little, right? She wasn't prepared for him to do something more than get coffee or deliver letters, not yet.

She sounded a little surprised and he wasn't exactly sure if it was a good surprised or a bad one. He hoped it was a good one. No, it wasn't like he'd be tracking down the head of the Deva on his next assignment, but he was hopefully going to do more than fetch tea and biscuits or clean pixie poop out of the lockers.
"Yeah, I guess I have potential or something," he told her with a wide grin, unable to disguise his pride. Heck, if he couldn't be proud of himself around her, who could he be?

An inescapable smile crossed her lips, unable to keep a tease to herself. While she knew he had a ton of potential for nearly everything, she loved to hear someone else thought the same, though didn't like the idea that he could be doing something dangerous because of it. Even though they'd spoken about what dangers being an Auror entailed, though she'd learned more by reading into it than by talking to him in the past of it, she still didn't like it one bit. It put him in danger, and though he was capable of taking care of himself, she was still scared for him, what if something did happen to him?
"I don't know what could've given him that impression," she told him, the teasing smile staying in place.

"Hey!" Drew cried out with mock offence and if the fence hadn't been between them, he would have tackled her and quite possibly tickled her in retaliation. Not only would he get her back, but he would have heard that adorable squeal of hers. Damn fence...
The best he could do was reach through the bars and try to give her a good poke. the most he would probably get out of it was a giggle and while those were awfully fun, they just weren't as good as the squeals.
"But yeah, he's going to put me on bigger assignments," he continued. "I mean, I'm still not going out into the field or anything... at least not on anything remotely big, but I'll be doing more than just running errands and getting tea and coffee." And maybe it would keep him farther away from the handsy secretary...

Laughing, she stuck her tongue out at him, glad he knew it was a tease. And though that was what it was, in a way, she wished his employer didn't see potential, so he wouldn't be placed on anything more than deliveries and taking orders for drinks and food. The information that he wouldn't be taken to the field was relieving, but still, it wasn't a guarantee.
"Are you enjoying it?" she asked. It wasn't a question she'd posed yet, though she could tell by his letters he thoroughly did. In a way, she was ashamed but would admit that she wished he didn't. There was nothing she really liked about it, the thought that he would likely one day deliberately place himself in danger wasn't appealing, but she knew she had to deal with it if she wanted to be with him.

"Yeah," he answered with an easy grin. He knew he gripped about the nonsense errands and the pranks the older Aurors pulled on him, but he was still enjoying every minute of it. He was paying his dues, working his way up, and in the process, gaining a little respect. Or at least that's what he hoped was happening. This latest turn of events was a sign that maybe it was all going the way he thought it was.
"So how are classes going?" he asked, wanting to hear about her. You and Davenport set any crazy beasts loose onto the school yet?" Next year she'd be in Africa, a thousand times harder to get to, and while he wasn't thrilled about the idea of her being so far away, he was proud of her for following her dream... proud of both of them to make it all work.

"They're fine," she answered, much more interested in what he had to say than in speaking about things he'd all ready experienced himself. After all, he knew what classes were like, long, drawn out, and boring. And without him in a number of her classes, they were even worse than usual. But she laughed at the thought of Davenport and she setting a creature loose, besides, they were all harmless as far as she could tell, the ones the classes worked with. They might touch on the subject of less gentle creatures, but they were never in the classroom.
"Not yet, but I've been thinking of placing an order for a Manticore, but no one seems willing to sell me one for a few coins." Shaking her head disgustedly, she winked at Drew knowing exactly how dangerous they very well could be. While she thought there was likely a good one in the bunch, she wasn't willing to find out by mail-order.

"A manticore, huh?" Drew answered and while he was pretty sure he could figure out a way to fund that as well as actually get one to the school, he wasn't going to suggest it outloud. Those things were crazy dangerous and he didn't want Felicity anywhere near one.
Of course, she had an affinity for the more dangerous creatures, convinced that they had a good side. As many times as he told her about the squid eating that Huffle, she still insisted the creature in the lake was really kind and misunderstood. Of course, Drew had never had a problem with the squid, so he didn't argue it too much. Cris had totally deserved to be eaten.
"I think I'd prefer you stick to puffskiens or something like that," he told her, knowing there was no way she'd go for something so tame. Felicity had a soft spot for all creatures, but he knew she really liked the big, dangerous ones the best.

"That's correct," she answered with a satisfied smile. A Manitcore set loose in the school would be much too dangerous, not to mention reckless. Just thinking about all the trouble she'd be in shook her to the core, knowing if she ever did such a thing she wouldn't ever be permitted to work with creatures in the future. But at his suggestion, she quickly wrinkled her freckled nose and had to bite back her own preference for what she'd rather he stuck to. Delivering doughnuts wasn't an ideal situation for her boyfriend, and she knew it wasn't what he wanted to do. And while she'd all ready told him her thoughts on what he wanted to be, she tried to support him as much as she could, without giving too much impression of what she still thought of his dream job.
"What about Erumpents?" she asked with a soft smile. That's where she would be heading off if she was accepted to work at the facility, to work with creatures much larger than she was, slightly dangerous, and perfect to begin with. But they were far from puffskiens.

"Yeah, don't they have horns that blow up or something?" he asked, knowing exactly what they had and how dangerous they were. Still, he had a broad smile and though he would have liked her to work with something less explosive, he was excited for her at the same time.
He paused slightly, hoping she didn't think he was trying to discourage her from going to Africa. He worried about her, wanted to keep her close, but he was still so proud she was following that dream. "I think you're going to be awesome with them," he told her. "After taming Sammy and the squid, I think... I know you can do anything."

Sticking her tongue out, she rolled her light brown eyes and shook her head. The manticore was an awfully dangerous creature, one she knew she wasn't ready to handle, yet, but the Erumpent was so much more interesting, and something she really wanted to work with. Maybe someday, but not anytime soon, she'd study manticores, but for now, she was willing to occupy herself with the creatures that filled her with a slight desire. And while she much preferred larger creatures over the smaller, more tame ones, she wouldn't pass up the opportunity to work with them if they were the only chance she had. Of course, given her preference, she would rather something larger and more interesting; which was nearly her sole reason for wanting to work in the Kenyan facility.
Glowing under the pride that ushered from Drew's voice, she couldn't help but smile sweetly at him. He at least encouraged her, even though he knew her job could be dangerous, and while she encouraged him to follow his dream she couldn't help but feel bad about her hope that he wouldn't like it and would find something else to be.
"They're nothing," she told him honestly. "I think you've given me more trouble than either of them..."

He did worry about her with the Erumpents, but knew she was a heck of a whole lot safer in Kenya than if she had chosen to chase Lethifolds. If she had decided to do that, he'd have some major sleepless nights wondering if she was okay. Sure, he'd worry less if she was into small, fluffy, harmless creatures, but then she wouldn't be the same girl he fell in love with.
He made a face back at her, but had to agree. Sammy was fiesty for a squirrel, but way more gentle than the creatures she was considering for after Hogwarts... and the squid was really quite harmless except for eating that one kid.

Giggling at the funny face he made, Felicity scrunched her nose up and wished there wasn't a huge fence between them. How she would love nothing more than to curl up in his lap, rest against his chest, and just be with him. True, she was with him right then, but it didn't feel as right as she would if she were able to more than just touch his hand through a fence, making it look like one of them was a prisoner while the other was free to roam, but were bound to keep dates that were supposed to be important.
"Drew, I've missed you," she told him seriously, not sure how to fill any void, not particularly wanting silence. What she truly wanted she couldn't have at that moment, but at least his voice could be comforting.
